Good morning! I hope you all have had a great week so far! I left on Sunday to Scottsdale, AZ to attend the Amazon Creator Summit and didn’t return until late Wednesday night. It threw off my regular routines but it was a fun trip. Today I’m sharing the design plans for our classic coastal powder bath – a space I haven’t shared much about in the past!

When we first started building this house, I knew immediately that I planned to wallpaper the powder bathroom. That was the easy part of the decision! Unfortunately there are so many wallpapers I love that it made it difficult to narrow one down. Let’s jump into some of my plans I created.
Initial Powder Bath Design Plans
Admittedly, my plans have changed quite a bit from what I had initially envisioned. But overall, it’s still a very similar vibe. I just had to roll with a few unexpected changes I’ll get to in a minute.
Here was the very first design plan I came up with.

SOURCES: Vanity | Mirror | Sconces | Wallpaper | Fabric
I still really love that design (and really want to use that wallpaper somewhere in our home), but as I started finalizing elements in all the other spaces in our home, I knew it wasn’t quite the right fit.
I literally have 20+ mockups with different wallpaper patterns but here was the version I finally settled on:

SOURCES: Vanity | Sconces | Wallpaper | Coral Mirror | Vase | Faux Fan Palm Stem | Faucet | Cafe Curtains | Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Silver Gray
I ordered the vanity on a Black Friday deal last year. It arrived several months later but we had to leave it boxed since it was still very much an active construction site and we didn’t want to get it damaged.
Fast forward a few more months, and I hated the tone of the vanity once they unboxed it. It was so orange and not at all what I expected. It looked awful against our floors. BUT I loved the shape and every other detail (I was also well past the return window by the time they opened it and installed it). So, I asked our builder if they could have it painted to match the doors in our house (in Benjamin Moore Silver Gray) and I am so glad I did! Here is how it looked once it was installed:

And here it was after the paint. Much better!

Finalized Classic Coastal Powder Bath Design Plans
So, once I had to pivot with the vanity, things moved pretty quickly because I already knew the overall vibe I wanted in the space. Once the vanity was painted the blue gray color (Benjamin Moore Silver Gray), I was able to quickly eliminate any of the blue wallpapers I had been considering. The room doesn’t get much natural light with its one small window and the fact it’s under our front porch overhang.
I quickly realized I needed a warm tone for the walls since all of the other elements in place were so cool. I landed pretty quickly on this wallpaper in the Fog and Chalk colorway. They also make this version that isn’t sisal but I wanted to add the texture to the space.
Here is the updated design board once I knew the direction I was going after seeing the painted vanity. Very similar to the vibe above, but with the colors flipped. From a purely design board perspective, I much prefer the look of the one above. And that’s probably because I can’t change the color of the vanity on this design boards. So the paint drop is indicative of the correct vanity color.

Once I received a sample of the wallpaper, I knew it was the one! I placed the order last week before I left on my trip, and when I returned the paper was already here! Here is a quick iPhone snap of how the sample looked pinned behind the mirror. Not sure why everything had a purple cast on it that day, but it gives you an idea of how it will all work together!

I’m on the installer’s bump list, meaning if they have a cancellation or a delay on another project, they’ll come install mine. She said it would likely be in the next ten days! So stay tuned. I should have the reveal of the space in the next few weeks!
