It’s officially moving week! Or, I should say, we’re likely closing on our new build this week (hoping for the certificate of occupancy today) and then depending on progress, we may start moving a few things over by the end of the week. We won’t really know when we’re officially moving until I get confirmation from both Pottery Barn and Serena & Lily on some of our larger furniture deliveries (like beds and sofas)! But hopefully no later than the following week! Today I’m sharing one of my more simple spaces – our plans for our classic coastal entryway!

Current Look At the Entryway
Our entryway has a fairly little footprint, as it includes the doorway to my office, the hallway to the powder bath, laundry room, HVAC closet, and AV closet, and then also feeds into the living room, dining room, and kitchen! Plus, at the end of the entryway is the staircase to go upstairs. With that, there isn’t a lot of wall space

And here’s the view near where you walk in the front door. I’m angled a bit here for the view outside, but it helps visualize the layout a bit more. You can also see a peek at the dining light and living room light.

Classic Coastal Entryway Design Plan
I don’t anticipate that the entryway will be used much by either Kurtis or me, as we’ll tend to come in through the garage door in the mudroom or the side door in the mudroom. However, it will be the main entrance for our guests, deliveries, etc. With that, and with the little wall space, I just wanted a small cabinet with drawers, a lamp, a mirror, and a catchall of sorts for keys and other odds and ends. Here is the design plan I came up with.

SOURCES: Ralph Lauren Large Smoke Bell Chandelier | Wood & Marble Dresser | Round Mirror | Tall Footed Glass Vase | Faux Fan Palms | Aluminum Fish Platter | Table Lamp (look for less with this base and this shade) | Striped Rug | Roman Shade (color: )Door Color: Benjamin Moore Silver Gray | Wall, Trim & Sidelight Color:Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace
The front door section will be painted the same colors as all of our other interior doors, Benjamin Moore Silver Gray.
I was able to get this light fixture over half off in the open box section, and I was thrilled! Since the entryway also has a glimpse of the big light fixtures in both the living room and dining room, I needed something that would work well with both of those (you can see those design boards here). We also have this large copper gas lantern on the opposite side of the door on the front porch, which you can see through the transom, so I liked that the glass bell lantern didn’t feel visually heavy or compete with all the other lights!
When I found this marble & wood dresser, I knew it was “the one”. I wanted something with a classic, almost vintage vibe. But I really didn’t have the time or energy to search for a vintage piece. I also love that it comes in three wood finishes so you can pick the one that works best for your space. The drawers can store umbrellas, extra shoes if needed, and other items we don’t want sitting out.
I ordered this round mirror for above the dresser, and see it’s on clearance now for an even better price! And this footed glass vase is such a great look for less to so many of the much more expensive options out there.
That wraps up our entryway plans! I can’t wait to bring this space to life in the very near future!
