Classic Coastal Living Room Tour

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent several days last week photographing various rooms on our first floor in our new home. I had intentions of sharing the living room, dining room and kitchen all in one post, but realized it would get rather long if I combined them all. So today I thought I’d share our classic coastal living room tour!

Here’s a view of the space standing in the dining room (the entryway is off to my right). We loved our old sofas so much, we ordered them again, but in this fun blue linen, after we sold our prior home fully furnished! I’ve had a lot of questions about this particular fabric. We ordered the Performance Rustic Linen in the Seaglass color. I was a little nervous about the color from the little swatch I ordered, but once I saw a larger sample in the PB showroom, I was sold. Compared to our old sofas in the Performance EveryDay Linen in Oatmeal, this rustic linen is definitely softer and has a more lived-in feel. It definitely has a bit more give so I do find myself having to fluff the cushions more frequently (especially now that the cats love to sit on the back cushions and look outside). But it’s a quick 30 second process, so nothing too time intensive. I did go with the EveryDay Linen in Oatmeal again for my office and it stays much more taut, but the fabric is definitely a bit scratchier when you first get it before you break it in. I do think by switching from the three pillows on the back (which was the only thing offered at the time) and going to only two now, it also makes the pillow covers less taut, as well.

Now that we’re moving into fall, we really need to pick out a fireplace insert so it’s installed for the cooler months!

I kept the decor to a minimum, but had to bring back Henley’s favorite tray. She sleeps in this thing all the time and is quite obsessed. And this vase is such a great value! It looks just like some much more expensive versions I own!

One of my favorite recent additions to the space is this oversized abstract art from Lindsay Letters. The colors are stunning in person. They’re named Morning Mist and Waters Edge (the name of the paint color on our Omaha front door!) in the largest size with the white gallery frame. They are both massive, but with our 12′ ceilings, that’s what we needed to fill this large blank wall. We love them so much!

On each of the buffet tables, we have these ceramic lamps set on timers to come on around sunset. Then they each have a piece of coral from this collection. There’s another piece on the side table that doesn’t have a lamp.

While it’s nearly impossible for me to photograph the two spaces together, the large sliders in the living room look directly down onto the pool and out into the backyard. So, the white coral is visually less distracting from the view out from all of the windows! You can actually see one of the pool umbrellas out the window above the coral in the first picture above.

I clearly have a serious obsession with fan palms – especially when I can clip them so easily!

Here is the view from the corner by the fireplace looking into the dining room and kitchen. I have both of those spaces photographed, as well, so I’ll be sharing those with you shortly! We’re really loving these swivel chairs. They’re upholstered in one of the top-performing fabrics in my recent fabric tests!

Here’s a better view of the art and look at how the living room connects to the entryway. The rug just arrived for the entryway (and there is furniture on the wall you can’t see), so I’ll be able to share more on that space soon, as well!
