Selecting Bathroom Mirrors
In our current home, our builder offered built-in framed out mirrors standard in the contract. It’s a nice clean look, and an upgrade from the typical builder-basic mirrors that usually get glued to the walls. However, we felt like our bathrooms didn’t have much opportunity for a ton of personality, so we asked for all the built-in mirrors other than one to be left out. In our new build, we’re doing the exact same thing! I plan to select a mirror for each space based upon how I want to “decorate” it. Bathroom mirrors are a great way to inject a little personality and design flair into a space.
The bathroom in my current office is the only place where we’ve left the built-in mirror option, which you can see below. In my Photoshop mock-up I shared prior to moving in, I added in the woven light fixtures (similar here) we have. If you look closely, there isn’t much space with the window and walls to fit a standard mirror. And if you look extra closely, you can see an outlet on the right side that also needs to be factored in. So, in this space, we left the built-in option because it just works better in some spaces!

With all of that, I’ve been searching for several mirrors over the past weeks to use in the other bathrooms in our new house.
If you’re on a similar hunt for a bathroom mirror, keep in mind that choosing the right bathroom mirror can have a big impact on the overall look and functionality of your bathroom. When selecting a bathroom mirror, there are a few things to consider.
First, you will want to decide on the size and shape of the mirror. It should be large enough to provide adequate reflection but not too large that it overwhelms the space.
Next, consider the style and design of the mirror. Do you want a modern, minimalist look or something more ornate? The frame and finish should complement the style of your bathroom.
You also want to ensure the mirror will properly fit. This one can get tricky, especially if you have sconces flanking the mirror. With new builds, they sometimes don’t pull the electrical wires through the wall until the space is nearly finished, so measure (and measure again!) to make sure your mirror will have clearance to the side (or above) for a light fixture!
Finally, think about the lighting in the bathroom and how the mirror will reflect it. A well-lit mirror can make a small bathroom feel brighter and more spacious.
Overall, selecting a bathroom mirror is a personal choice, but taking these factors into consideration will help you find the perfect mirror for your space.
Coastal Bathroom Mirrors We’ve Used In The Past
We did a number of bathroom renovations shortly before our move to Florida. In each of them, I used fairly different types of mirrors, but based upon other elements in each space, they all still worked well with the coastal vibe I was looking to achieve.
The most “coastal” of the mirrors I’ve used in the past is this coral style mirror that we’ve owned for years. At one point, it was in our entryway, but once the pool house bathroom was complete, we moved it out there. It’s still one of my very favorite mirrors and we’ll likely use it again in the new build.

It’s the same mirror we hung when we first moved to Florida in our bedroom in the full-length size. It’s not super tall, so if you had a powder bath with really high ceilings, this may be a fun one to use there as well!

We also ended up using it again in our current home because we loved it so much! It was a fun one to pair with our fan palm wallpaper!

Since the louvered wood vanity in our smaller guest bathroom was the star of the space, I used this simple mirror with brass corners. It’s still one of my favorite mirrors to date!

In our Omaha Jack & Jill bathroom, we did a more traditional style pivot mirror. These are another favorite, and I love that they could be rotated if needed. Works great in a guest bathroom like this if you have different heights of people using the space. I also love the dimension they add since the pop from the wall a bit!

In our first entryway in Florida, we used this gorgeous coral mirror and I’m pretty sure I want to use it again in our new home! It is heavy and such great quality! I’m still trying to decide if I’ll use it in a bathroom or keep it styled above a console table like I have it here.

Another really large and solid option is this scalloped wood mirror in our upstairs bathroom in our current home!

Coastal Bathroom Mirror Ideas
In my search for mirrors for the new build bathrooms, I collected my favorites and am sharing them below. If you’re specifically looking for a round bathroom mirror, be sure to also check out this post on Coastal Inspired Round Mirrors.
Here are a couple I have already ordered or know I’ll be ordering:
- This large woven mirror in the white washed colorway for the bathroom with this vanity
- This scalloped woven mirror for the “cat bath” – the one with the blue and white patterned floor
- I’m really loving this option for our bathroom, because it’s tough to find more narrow mirrors that are quite tall! We have vaulted ceilings in our future bath so I think something taller is essential!
- This coral mirror is still one of my all-time favorites, and I think I’ll use it in our dining room, rather than a bathroom.
- We’ve owned this mirror for ages and I think I may use it in the pool bath so it’s one less item I need to buy!
Tap any of the images below to learn more about each of the coastal mirrors shown. These could be used in a bathroom, but obviously many other rooms in your home as well!

I love the Ojai mirror but it is too large for my space. So you know of a similar one aprox. 12″ wide by 24″ long? I have been searching for one to no avail. Thank you.
I’ll keep my eyes open! Unfortunatly, you may need to go with more of a frameless (or really tight frame) mirror so there is enough glass space for it to be useful. We used this mirror in the past: https://rstyle.me/+txdmso9ImquO03pv94F6xQ and it comes in a ton of dimensions which is helpful. It only goes as low as 14″ but it has several finish options. I hope that helps!
