Selecting Bathroom Mirrors
In the new build, our builder offers a built-in framed out mirror standard in the contract. It’s a nice clean look, and an upgrade from the typical builder-basic mirrors that usually get glued to the walls. However, I feel like our bathrooms in the new house don’t have much opportunity for a ton of personality, so I have asked for all the built-in mirrors other than one to be left out. I plan to select a mirror for each space based upon how I want to “decorate” it. Bathroom mirrors are a great way to inject a little personality and design flair into a space.
In our powder bathroom, I’ve shared that we’ll have to go with a tiny vanity so I’ll want to select a mirror that works well with the vanity we choose. In our upstairs bathrooms, I’ve chosen a light blue and a navy blue cabinet from the cabinet company, and I’m excited for the color those will add. I want each bedroom and bathroom to have a personality, so I’m also searching for some cute wallpapers simultaneously while I look for fun mirrors.
The bathroom in what will be my office (originally designed to be the primary suite) is the only place I’m leaving the built-in mirror. In my Photoshop mock-up I shared a few weeks ago to show the woven light fixtures we’re using (which are gorgeous by the way) you can see the build out. This is from a home that was recently completed and has many of the same features as ours. If you look closely, there isn’t much space with the window and walls to fit a standard mirror. And if you look extra closely, you can see an outlet on the right side that also needs to be factored in. So, in this space, we’re going to have it built just like they did below,
With that, I’ve been searching for several mirrors over the past weeks to use in the other bathrooms.
If you’re on a similar hunt for a bathroom mirror, keep in mind that choosing the right bathroom mirror can have a big impact on the overall look and functionality of your bathroom. When selecting a bathroom mirror, there are a few things to consider.
First, you will want to decide on the size and shape of the mirror. It should be large enough to provide adequate reflection but not too large that it overwhelms the space. Next, consider the style and design of the mirror. Do you want a modern, minimalist look or something more ornate? The frame and finish should complement the style of your bathroom. Finally, think about the lighting in the bathroom and how the mirror will reflect it. A well-lit mirror can make a small bathroom feel brighter and more spacious.
Overall, selecting a bathroom mirror is a personal choice, but taking these factors into consideration will help you find the perfect mirror for your space.
Coastal Bathroom Mirrors We’ve Used In The Past
We did a number of bathroom renovations shortly before our move to Florida. In each of them, I used fairly different types of mirrors, but based upon other elements in each space, they all still worked well with the coastal vibe I was looking to achieve.
The most “coastal” of the mirrors I’ve used in the past is this coral style mirror that we’ve owned for years. At one point, it was in our entryway, but once the pool house bathroom was complete, we moved it out there. It’s still one of my very favorite mirrors and we’ll likely use it again in the new build.

It’s the same mirror we recently hung in our bedroom in the full-length size. It’s not super tall, so if you had a powder bath with really high ceilings, this may be a fun one to use there as well!

Since the louvered wood vanity in our smaller guest bathroom was the star of the space, I used this simple mirror with brass corners. It’s still one of my favorite mirrors to date!

In our Omaha Jack & Jill bathroom, we did a more traditional style pivot mirror. These are another favorite, and I love that they could be rotated if needed. Works great in a guest bathroom like this if you have different heights of people using the space. I also love the dimension they add since the pop from the wall a bit!

In our current entryway in Florida, we are using this gorgeous coral style mirror. It is heavy and such great quality! I’m still trying to decide if I’ll use it in a bathroom or keep it styled above a console table like I have it here. Leaning towards the latter, because I don’t love the idea of hair spray and other hair products or bathroom moisture possibly ruining it.
