It’s hard to believe, but today marks the two year anniversary of us moving into our current home! And almost three years since we moved to Florida. Today I’m sharing a recap of all the updates we’ve made over the past year.

If you’re new here, I shared a lot about the new build process and progress along the way in the following posts if you’re interested and looking for a bit more background info on this house:

  • A Peek At Our Florida New Build: Part I
  • Florida New Build Progress: Part II
  • Florida New Build Progress: Part III
  • Florida Design Plan Ideas
  • Additional Coastal Design Boards for the New Build
  • Carriage House Apartment Tour
  • One Year: Our Florida Home Tour

And if you love a seasonal home tour, feel free to check out any of these other posts I’ve shared over the past two years.

  • 2024 Christmas Home Tour
  • 2024 Fall Home Tour
  • 2024 Spring Home Tour
  • 2023 Coastal Christmas Home Tour

Now, let’s jump into how our home looks now, two years later! It seems like most of our house is on sale for the holiday weekend, too!

This last year of owning our home was a bit of an odd one in terms of projects and updates. Three months after last year’s one-year tour, we went under contract on our new build, although I didn’t announce it until May of this year once they finally broke ground and we had some progress to share. Then we traveled out of the country three times between January and April. By that time, our new build was starting to require some attention in terms of high-level selections. So, to be honest, it feels like I really didn’t get a lot done in our current home. Some of that was also intentional, knowing we’d likely be moved into our new home by this time next year. Some was just a lack of hours in the day to do it all!

But, looking back, there were actually a few changes that are worth revisiting! I still also have a few updates planned before we move. But one thing is certain – after living in this neighborhood nearly three years now, we know it’s where we want to be. Our upcoming move is only a street away. We love this community so much!

This past year, we gave our front porch a little makeover and spruced up this seating area. Hawkeye loves to come out here every morning and will sit and beg at the front door until one of us goes out with him. So it’s nice to have comfy chairs we can enjoy!

FRONT PORCH SEATING AREA SOURCES: Outdoor Armchair Set | Side Table | Outdoor Rug | Plastic Stemmed Wine Glasses | Snack Bowls | Striped Outdoor Pillow | Knit Throw Blanket | Large Planters | Smaller planters were rosemary from the herb section and came pre-potted

Do I tell you now or next week that I basically gave up watering all my planters in the last few weeks? A sure sign that fall is approaching. I’ll spare you those pics for now 😉

FRONT DOOR SOURCES: Wreath | Woven Doormat | Striped Rug | Gas Lantern | Fluted Planter | Door Color | House Color

One of our favorite features of this house is the lighthouse style entryway! It reminded us so much of our prior Omaha home when we first saw it!

SOURCES: Console Table | Lamp (look for less here) | “Saints of Old Florida” | “Surf Like A Girl” | Rattan Box Set | Vase | Wall & Trim Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

We really love our kitchen! But we’re definitely excited for a mudroom in our next home. We rarely use our front door, and are always coming and going from this side door!

One of the hardest things to leave behind will be the pendant lights that I’m still so obsessed with! But it will be fun to go in a new direction in the new house.

KITCHEN SOURCES: Woven Shade (color: Bonaire Flaxen) | Vase | Faux Palm Stems | Striped Runner Rug | Cabinet Knobs | Woven Chandeliers (look for less options here) | Faucet | Pot Filler | Marble Tray | Swivel Counter Stools | Wall & Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

We’ve had this living room layout for as long as I can remember (even living in Omaha). We both love having our own sofa to watch TV. Which lately is literally only Jeopardy!

I’ll never not have a Frame TV (or equivalent) if we must have a TV. I’m that person that probably could go 100% without one. But I’m married to someone who could 100% not 😉

This 8′ tree was a fun addition to the space this year! We had owned it in other sizes previously but this one helps fill the 12′ wall height a bit!

LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Sofas (read my full review here) | Chairs | Coffee Table | Indoor/Outdoor Striped Rug | Linen Pillows (color: Mineral Blue) | Patterned Pillows | Oversized Baskets | Frame TV | Vase | Similar Grapewood Branch | “Surf Tribe” Coffee Table Book | “Joie” Coffee Table Book | “Summer to Summer” Coffee Table Book | Ceramic Urchin Catchall | Console Table | Lamps | 8′ Tree | Basket | Woven Shades (color: Bonaire Flaxen) | Wall & Trim Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

Fun fact: this house was supposed to have a large front porch, a large screened-in back porch, plus a side porch. Since they were all covered, we asked if we could build-out the covered side porch and turn it into an office for Kurtis and a dining room. It made so much more sense for how we live (and honestly the only way we were willing to buy this house). So, his office is fairly small (maybe 11’x11′) but he gets a view of the pool which he loves. He’s excited to have a space that will be twice as wide in the next house!

KURTIS’ OFFICE SOURCES: Desk | Entertainment Center Cabinets | Leather Desk Chair | Rug | Chandelier | Monitor | Art: old from Pottery Barn

I painted the dining room last summer and I just love having this pop of colors when all of the other spaces around it are white!

DINING ROOM SOURCES: Dining Chairs | Dining Table | Rug | Chandelier | Abstract Art | Vase | Marble Lazy Susan | Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Smoke

Next to that space (and off our kitchen) is our laundry and pantry combo. This year, we also carved a little mudroom out of that space in the back where the HVAC closet is.

PANTRY & LAUNDRY ROOM SOURCES: Rattan Sconce | Faux Viburnum Stems | Vase (small) | Woven Tray | Cabinet Hardware | Paint Color: Aero Blue stock cabinet color – similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue

Next to that is our powder bath, which we had wallpapered this year! It totally changed the space for the better and we love it!

SOURCES: Oceana Wallpaper | Rattan Vanity Light | Cane Mirror (similar here) | Vanity | Faucet | Faux Floral Arrangement | Hand Soap | Seagrass Waste Basket | Scalloped Hand Towel | Hand Towel Ring | Tank Basket

At the front of the house is my office. The builder intended it to be the primary suite, but unlike a lot of people, we both prefer to sleep upstairs. So it made more sense to make it my office. But we still get ready in the adjoining bathroom and use the closet in the space for our clothes. One of the reasons our new house will work better for the way we live!

OFFICE SOURCES: Chandelier | L-Shaped Desk | Leather Desk Chair | Old Rug | Vase | Water Art

I realized just how bad I’ve been at taking photos of my office. This was the closest I got this year when I shared my packing video for our trip to Amsterdam and the river cruise! But I did replace the rug in here this year and you can kind of see it below. I love it!

SOURCES: Lamp | Faux Baby’s Breath | Similar Vase | Water Art | Scalloped Tray | Match Cloche | Candle | Raffia Cabinet | Coral | Jute, Wool & Cotton Rug | Laundry Basket | Carry-On Suitcase | Large Suitcase | Polo Ball Cap | Linen Pants | Embroidered Top | Nike Sneakers | Striped Sweater | Floral Top

I also made and hung this DIY seashell artwork. The shell hunting hasn’t been great lately so I’m hoping this fall I can collect enough again to make a coordinating piece for the other spot on my office wall!

OFFICE SOURCES: Shadowbox Frame | Writing Desk | L-Shaped Desk | Hurricane Glass | Lamp (look for less here) | “The Seaside House” | “Island Whimsy” | “Summer to Summer”

I still don’t have a non-Christmas picture of our bathroom, so here it is dressed up for Christmas nearly two years ago. The one and only day I’ve ever taken pictures of it!

BATHROOM SOURCES: Woven Cone Pendants (small size) | Blue Velvet Ribbon (similar here) | Vase | Pre-Lit Birch Stems | Faux Orange Stems | Faux Pine Stems | Cabinet Knobs | Cabinet Bin Pulls | Reversible Pine Tree Towel | Citrus & Sage Hand Soap | Bath Mats | Faucets

Moving upstairs is our loft living room area.

Over the past year, we added these picture ledge shelves to hold frames that used to be in a gallery wall in our Omaha house! They’re so fun to decorate and change up seasonally!

Because of the lighthouse style staircase, this room gets light from all four directions and I love it! You can see in the pic below a doorway which leads to the “cat bedroom”. They don’t actually sleep in there but we keep their boxes in the bathroom and all their toys, carriers, and other random things in there.

LOFT SOURCES: Woven Shades (Bonaire Flaxen, blackout liner, automated) | Rattan Cabinet | Frame TV | Sectional | Similar Rug | Striped Ottoman | Star Chandelier | Reversible Linen Pillow Covers | Reversible Floral Pillow Covers | Lamps | Console Table | Baskets | Faux Oversized Curly Willow Branch | Vase | Woven Tray | Picture Ledge Shelves | Gallery Wall Frames (look for less here) | Similar Starfish Decor | White Spike Coral Object

The biggest change in our bedroom this year was the addition of the drapes. I feel like it added some much-needed softness to the space!

I had originally had plans to do something fun on the walls in here to take advantage of the vault, but at this stage, I think I’ll leave it a blank canvas for the next owners!

BEDROOM SOURCES: Pinch Pleat Curtains (Beige White) | Curtain Rods (1.25″ diameter) – look for less here | Curtain Rings | Blue Linen Bed (look for less here) | Nightstands (look for less here) | Striped Sheets | Pick-Stitch Quilt | Euro Shams | Block Print Pillow Covers | Long Linen Lumbar Pillow | Lamps | Vase | Faux Snowball Viburnum | Rug | Bench | Coral Style Mirror | Artwork | Wall and Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

We also had the adjoining bathroom wallpapered!

It gives this space so much more personality now!

BATHROOM SOURCES: Ceramic Hobnail Vase | Scalloped Tray | Scalloped Bath Jar | Scalloped Soap Dish | Sea Salt Lemon Bar Soap | Striped Wallpaper | Faux Viburnum Stems | Mirror | Sconces | Similar Bath Mat | Cabinet Hardware

This past year we also finally made our guest bedroom more acceptable. It had never really been a priority in the past because we have the carriage house where our guests sleep 99% of the time. But it was fun to warm this space up a bit too and make it feel less like a scary dorm room 😉

GUEST BEDROOM SOURCES: Seashell Mirror | Oak Leaves | Vase | Similar Conch Shell | “Made for Living” | “Travel Home” | “Surf Shack” | Upholstered Bed Frame (similar here) | Sateen Hotel Stripe Duvet Cover | All-Season Down-Alternative Insert | Waffle Knit Blanket | Brushed Organic Cotton Percale Sheets | Block Print Throw Pillow Covers | Scalloped Wicker Chandelier | 4-Drawer Dresser | Palm Wallpaper

This palm wallpaper was also added over the past year and it may be one of my favorites ever!

SOURCES: Fan Palm Wallpaper | Coral Style Mirror | Wicker Sconce | Seagrass Waste Basket | Cabinet Hardware | Hand Soap | Faucet | Hand Towel Ring | Vanity Color: Stock cabinet color called Aero Blue – Similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue

Moving back downstairs and out the sliders from our living room is our outdoor living space! We did add curtains to the side that faces the garage but I never took a proper photo to document it. It really helps with late afternoon sun streaming in!

We had these outdoor chairs in our Omaha pool house. And quite honestly, I didn’t think they’d survive long outside in the Florida humidity. But they still look good as new with a semi-annual pressure washing!

OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Rope Chandeliers | Outdoor Sofa | Outdoor Striped Pillows | Outdoor Coffee Table | Striped Rug | Similar White Melamine Tray (same collection) | Vase | Outdoor Swivel Chairs (Perennials Performance Basketweave in Coastal Blue)

We get a lot of use out of our outdoor dining area and outdoor kitchen. I’m not sure I’d ever live in Florida and not have a screened-in porch of some kind. It’s so wonderful to enjoy meals outside completely bug-free!

OUTDOOR DINING SPACE SOURCES: Outdoor Dining Table | Outdoor Dining Chairs | Rope Pendant Light | Cordless Table Lamps | Table Cloth | Place Mats | Faux Bamboo Flatware | Vase

I have a very detailed post dedicated to our pool & paver details if you’re interested in specifics. Despite being a fairly small backyard, it feels more grand with the large pine trees behind us!

SOURCES: Pool/Pool Deck Details | Scalloped Umbrellas | Umbrella Bases | Chaise Lounge Chairs | Reversible Paisley Pillows | Side Tables | Swivel Glider Chairs | Round Coffee Table | Reversible Pillows

I still receive regular messages from people on Instagram asking if these are still our original outdoor Walmart chairs we bought when we lived in Omaha. They are, and they are still in such great shape (original cushions and all)! We only covered them in the winter months when we lived in Omaha, but have never covered them here. It’s wild how durable they are for the price!

SOURCES: Side Tables | Swivel Glider Chairs | Outdoor Ottomans | Round Coffee Table | Reversible Pillows

To the left of the pool is the garage and staircase up to our carriage house (you can see it three pics up in the image of our outdoor living space). It’s essentially a mini apartment (minus laundry or dishwasher) that is the space above our garage.

CARRIAGE HOUSE LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Indoor/Outdoor Sofa (fabric is Perennials in Chalk) | Leather Chairs | Coffee Table | Block Print Rug | Bamboo Side Tables | Rattan Lamps | Palm Art | Coral Mirror | Rattan Desk | Striped Chair | Wood Links | Striped Throw Pillow Cover | Palm Throw Pillow Cover | Rope Coasters | White Teak Bowl: sources locally at Maison 30A

We have this little desk space to the left of the sofa, since so many of our friends and family that visit still have to work a portion of their time here.

DESK AREA SOURCES: Rattan Desk | Striped Chair | Coral Mirror | Vase

I added this fun hat wall to the dining space earlier this year to add to the vacation vibes out here!

CARRIAGE HOUSE DINING ROOM SOURCES: Dining Table | Dining Chairs | Round Jute Rug | Faux Palm Stems | Vase

We went with the same blue cabinets out here that we have in our laundry/pantry area.

I also added this scalloped console table this year to the end of that hallway that turns to go to the bedroom.

CARRIAGE HOUSE KITCHEN SOURCES: Striped Runner Rug | Cabinet Knobs | Cabinet Bin Pulls | Scalloped Console Table | Abstract Beach Art | Glass Vase | White Teak Bowl: sourced locally at Maison 30A | Cabinet Color: Aero Blue (stock color from cabinet company but similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue)

The biggest change we made to the carriage house this year was when I got a wild hair and decided to paint the bedroom about a week before we had guests arriving. But it has made the space feel so much more finished and cozy!

I loved this bedding so much, I recently ordered some for our bedroom!

CARRIAGE HOUSE BEDROOM SOURCES: Rattan Bed (similar here) | Nightstands | Herringbone Rug | Lamps | Gallery Frame Kit | Florida Pennant | Gulf Coast Pennant | 30A Pennant | Sand Pennant | FL Pennant (many states available) | Shells Botanical Print | Tulip Shell Print | Striped Wallpaper | Oceana Wallpaper | Downloadable Art Prints | 30A Matchbox Printable | Striped Linen Duvet Cover | Organic Bamboo Sheets | Gauze Throw Blanket | Paint Color: Farrow & Ball Borrowed Light

And here’s the little adjoining bathroom! The only real change in here was moving the art to the wall since it was previously where the gallery wall was in the bedroom. Each fills their new space so much better now!

CARRIAGE HOUSE BATHROOM SOURCES: Abstract Beach Art | Towel Bar | Organic Bath Mats | Hand Soap | Mirror: Discontinued from Serena & Lily | Cabinet Paint Color: Stock cabinet color called Aero Blue but similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue

And that wraps up our tour! I anticipate we won’t list this house until springtime at the earliest. So before we move next year, I still plan to have seasonal tours of this home along the way, so this definitely won’t be the last you’ll see of it!
