It’s hard to believe, but yesterday marked the one year anniversary of us moving into our new build in northwest Florida in the 30A area! Admittedly we haven’t tackled too many projects yet, as we worked to get unpacked, settled, etc. But now that we’ve had a chance to see how we use the spaces, we have a lot planned over the coming year to further personalize our home!
If you’re new here, I shared a lot about the new build process and progress along the way in the following posts if you’re interested and looking for a bit more background info on this house:

Welcome to our Florida home! This is just an iPhone pic I took a month or two back, but I keep forgetting to take an updated photo! We love our big, southern front porch and the view out to the pond across the street.
FRONT PORCH SOURCES: Planters | Flag Pole | American Flag | Wreath | Gas Lanterns | Fluted Planter | Striped Rug | Jute Rug | House Color: Sherwin Williams Greek Villa | Door Color: Sherwin Williams Niebal Azul
Moving into our entryway, the view below is what you see when you walk in the front door. We have the lighthouse style entryway with the wraparound windows!
Expect to see a lot more seashells in our home over the coming months and years. I’ve become obsessed with them and now really enjoy walking the beaches looking for them.
SOURCES: Console Table | Lamp | “Saints of Old Florida” | “Surf Like A Girl” | Rattan Box Set | Vase
Moving down the hallway is our kitchen. We have a side door that leads out to a covered driveway and our detached garage. It’s pretty convenient for groceries and I’d argue we use this door more than our front door!
We really love the extra counter space the long peninsula provides here. So much more workspace than we’ve been used to in the past! I bought some raffia sheets to try to apply behind the glass on those upper cabinets. I’m hoping to install those next week so I’ll be sure to share if it’s the best idea or the absolute worst 😉
KITCHEN SOURCES: Woven Shade (color: Bonaire Flaxen) | Vase | Faux Palm Stems | Striped Runner Rug | Cabinet Knobs | Woven Chandeliers (look for less options here) | Faucet | Pot Filler | Marble Tray | Swivel Counter Stools | Wall & Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound
I didn’t change up much in our living room from prior seasons but did add these reversible throw pillow covers for the warmer months.
Here’s the view of the living room when you’re standing in the kitchen. One of our favorite features is the large 16′ x 10′ slider that pushes open all the way to that last panel of glass on the left onto our screened-in back porch.
More seashell love!
Here’s a view I’m not sure I’ve shared before! The rooms back there (Kurtis’ office and our dining room) were designed to be covered porch space. But, since we already have a screened-in porch the width of the back of our house, we knew one on the side (that wasn’t screened-in) wouldn’t be of much use to us. Even though our house is not custom, the builder agreed to enclose the spaces for us since it already was in the plans for a roof. Long story short, this helps visualize our floorplan a bit more.
SUMMER LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Sofa (read my review here) | Coffee Table | Coffee Table Tray | Rug | Acrylic Side Table | Linen Pillow | Reversible Floral Pillow | Vase | Similar Grapewood Branch | Lamps | Console Table | Woven Roman Shades (color: Bonaire Flaxen)
I recently painted our dining room Benjamin Moore Smoke and we’re loving this injection of color into the space!
We’re still thinking we’ll do board and batten on the walls around the entire room, and I may still paint the ceilings and trim but we’re holding off for now. It will likely be a winter project!
DINING ROOM SOURCES: Dining Chairs | Dining Table | Rug | Chandelier | Abstract Art | Vase | Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Smoke
Our laundry room, which is right off the kitchen, also doubles as our coffee bar and pantry overflow. The little room back by the window also holds our HVAC closet. I may eventually add wallpaper to this space to give it a little more personality, since there isn’t really wall space for art. But I’m so glad we chose blue cabinets in here!
LAUNDRY ROOM SOURCES: Rattan Sconce | Faux Viburnum Stems | Vase (small) | Woven Tray | Cabinet Hardware | Paint Color: Aero Blue stock cabinet color – similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue
We had our powder bathroom measured for wallpaper Wednesday night, and I’m planning to place the order this weekend during the holiday sales! I’m so excited to see how that project turns out!
POWDER BATH SOURCES: Light Fixture | Mirror | Vanity | Faucet | Floral Arrangement | Scalloped Hand Towel | Seagrass Waste Basket | Tank Basket | Art: old from One Kings Lane
Here is a look at Kurtis’ office. He’s using the old furniture I had bought in Omaha before we knew we were moving, so it better fit in that space. But, it actually is working great for him here. If you ask him his favorite part of the room it’s that it’s not shared with a guest space like he’s had in the past, he loves the view out to the pool, and he’s obsessed with his monitor. Ha!
KURTIS’ OFFICE SOURCES: Desk | Entertainment Center Cabinets | Desk Chair | Rug | Chandelier | Monitor | Art: old from Pottery Barn
My office is still a major work in progress, but I do have this nice view from my desk (when the room is picked up).
MY OFFICE SOURCES: Lamps | Console Table | Sparkling Water Art | Faux Tulips | Scalloped Marble Wine Chiller | Hamper Basket | Colorful Oushak Rug
I never ended up decorating our upstairs loft space for summer, so the spring decor just came down the other day.
Admittedly we don’t use this space a ton, but it is nice to have an additional living space since we don’t have basements here. I’ve never allowed TV’s in the bedrooms so this is our only other TV in the house.
From this view you can see how the space opens to our entryway below, and then off to the right is the door to the cat room. It’s basically a small bedroom and bath where we keep their litter boxes and some cozy spots for them when we need to lock them up.
LOFT SOURCES: Woven Shades (Bonaire Flaxen, blackout liner, automated)| Rattan Cabinet | Frame TV | Sectional | Similar Rug | Striped Ottoman | Star Chandelier | Brushstroke Pillow Covers | Floral Pillow Covers | Lamps | Console Table | Baskets | Faux Lilacs | Vase | Clamshell | Similar Moss Balls
I recently shared our blue summer bedroom decor and I’m planning to try and transition this reversible bedding into fall, as well!
Down the road, we’d really love to tackle a project that helps feature the vaulted ceiling. Not sure what exactly, but all the white paint just seems to make the ceiling height disappear.
I love this perspective of the room from our full-length mirror! It comes in two sizes and we’ve used them both over the years.
BEDROOM SOURCES: Upholstered Bed (look-for-less option here) | Nightstands | Chandelier | Rug | Reversible Quilt | Reversible Euro Shams | Striped Sheets | Waffle Knit Blanket | Lamps | Cane Wrapped Vase | Water Lilies Art | Coral Style Mirror | Camp Stools
I also had this bathroom measured for wallpaper and I’m so excited to see this striped paper hung horizontally in here! It’s going to be a lot of pattern, but I am ready for it!
BATHROOM SOURCES: Scalloped Wood Mirror | Sconces | Scalloped Hand Towel | Scalloped Bath Mat | Cane Wrapped Vase | Cabinet Hardware | Faucet | Towel Bar | Handsoap
I’ve never really shown much of our guest bedroom because up until last week, it didn’t even have a light fixture! When we have guests, they stay in the carriage house so this bedroom hasn’t been a priority. Clearly it’s still not anything too special, but we’re planning to give it a few updates to add some character! This is the view from the doorway when you walk in the room. And, oh look! There’s the one box that still hasn’t been unpacked in the past year. Kurtis insists its stuff we “need” but at this point, I’d argue otherwise 😉
This room is a mirror image of the cat room and it’s so small we can’t fit more than one nightstand, but it’s not much of an issue for us. Just makes furniture placement a little tricky with the doors and windows!
GUEST BEDROOM SOURCES: Bed | Similar Nightstand | Lamp | Rug | Wicker Chandelier | Quilt | Euro Shams | Dresser
Here’s a quick iPhone pic of the adjoining bathroom from shortly before we moved in. This one will also be getting some wallpaper, and it might end up being one of my favorite spaces!
BATHROOM SOURCES: Rattan Sconce | Mirror | Cabinet Hardware | Paint Color: Aero Blue stock cabinet color – similar to Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue
Moving back downstairs and out the sliding door, we have an outdoor living space. As the temps start to drop over the next month or so, I’m excited to spend more time out on our screened-in porch.
The view is beautiful here and I just love this cozy little spot when the weather permits!
OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Rope Chandeliers | Outdoor Sofa | Striped Pillows | Outdoor Coffee Table | Striped Rug | Similar White Melamine Tray | Vase | Outdoor Swivel Chairs
We love eating meals outside, particularly because of the screens so we don’t have to deal with bugs. The past two months have been so hot and humid that we haven’t utilized the space much. But we’re approaching porch season and I can’t wait!
We have a built-in little kitchen which really just consists of the grill and then a beverage fridge. Kurtis loves having the grill in a covered spot, so weather is never really an issue when he needs to use it!
OUTDOOR DINING AREA SOURCES: Outdoor Dining Table | Outdoor Dining Chairs | Rope Pendant Light | Cordless Table Lamps | Table Cloth | Place Mats | Faux Bamboo Flatware | Similar Napkin Rings | Vase
Here’s a look at the pool and cabana area. I recently shared a big post with all the pool details and outdoor tour, so if you’re looking for paver specs, pool specs, etc. that post is worth checking out! They were able to pack quite a bit of living space in the small footprint, and we just love that view of the pines!
SOURCES: Scalloped Umbrellas | Umbrella Bases | Chaise Lounge Chairs | Reversible Paisley Pillows | Side Tables | Swivel Glider Chairs | Round Coffee Table | Reversible Pillows
Since we haven’t done many updates to our carriage house apartment (over our garage) since shortly after we moved in, you can view the original tour here.
And that concludes the tour! Thank you all for following along with our adventures of moving to Florida and slowly making this house our home. We’re really looking forward to seeing the updates we make over the coming year!

Thank you! Not sure if this would be too big but it’s a pretty one! https://rstyle.me/+eWSq9wCkeW8ZKpYF3oFmtA They also have great stems if you already have a vase you love.
Beautiful, just beautiful! 💜
Thank you so much Linda! Have a great holiday weekend!
Thank you for sharing, your home is beautiful! I cannot wait to see the wallpaper reveal!!
Thanks for all you share Sarah! Absolutely love your blog, ideas and most of all your honesty. Every time I speak to a friend about home decor ideas, I always find myself bringing up your name and sharing your profiles.
Did you ever post the actual floor plans of the house? I saw when you shared the realtors plan, and you said you were going to post the floor plan when you got it, but I can’t seem to find it. Would also like a photo of the front of the house (maybe from the street) so I can get the overall idea of it. Loved your Omaha house also! Can’t wait to see the wallpaper!
Love, love, love everything about your beautiful home. Well done!
