Welcome to our Florida home tour! We moved into this home in August 2023 and are slowly making it our own! Our home is not a custom build, and outside of a few selection options here and there, was essentially a spec house. But, we were able to tweak a few things along the way to better fit our needs and we’re really happy with how it’s all turned out! Be sure to also check out our carriage house apartment tour, which is our guest space above our garage. You can also check out our seasonal home tours here and our other homes throughout the years here.
Let’s jump into the tour!

Our Coastal Front Porch
Welcome to our Florida home! This is just an iPhone pic I took a month or two back, but I keep forgetting to take an updated photo! We love our big, southern front porch and the view out to the pond across the street.

Our Coastal Entryway
Moving into our entryway, the view below is what you see when you walk in the front door. We love the lighthouse style entryway with the wraparound windows!
Expect to see a lot more seashells in our home over the coming months and years. I’ve become obsessed with them and now really enjoy walking the beaches looking for them.

Our Coastal Kitchen
Moving down the hallway is our kitchen. We have a side door that leads out to a covered driveway and our detached garage. It’s pretty convenient for groceries and I’d argue we use this door more than our front door!
The space also connects our living room and pantry/laundry room.
We really love the extra counter space the long peninsula provides here. So much more workspace than we’ve been used to in the past! The back of the peninsula also has storage cabinets, so it’s where I store all of my seasonal dishes and tablescape decor.

Our Coastal Living Room
Moving over from the kitchen you’ll find our living room. This is the room where we spend most of our evenings and we’re so happy we decided to add a fireplace. We really missed that in our last home after coming down from Omaha!
Our sofas are still going strong after nearly eight years. They’ve definitely gotten comfier over time too so I don’t see them going anywhere any time soon.

Our Coastal Dining Room
We recently painted our dining room Benjamin Moore Smoke and we’re loving this injection of color into the space!
We’re still thinking we’ll install board and batten on the walls around the entire room, and I may still paint the ceilings and trim but we’re holding off for now. I would also like to add some drapes for more texture and interest.

Our Coastal Laundry Room & Pantry
Our laundry room, which is right off the kitchen, also doubles as our coffee bar and pantry overflow. The little room back by the window also holds our HVAC closet. I may eventually add wallpaper to this space to give it a little more personality, since there isn’t really wall space for art. But I’m so glad we chose blue cabinets here! We also have a wine refrigerator and it’s where we have our coffee bar (off to the right). We weren’t anticipating just how much we’d love this little space right off the kitchen!

Kurtis’ Home Office
Here is a look at Kurtis’ office. He’s using the old furniture I had bought in Omaha before we knew we were moving, so it better fit in that space. But, it actually is working great for him here. If you ask him his favorite part of the room it’s that it’s not shared with a guest space like he’s had in the past, he loves the view out to the pool, and he’s obsessed with his monitor. Ha!

Our Coastal Powder Bath
I am thrilled with the Oceana Wallpaper we selected! It’s hard to capture in photos because this room doesn’t get much natural light, but the pattern looks like it was applied with paint and has a really unique character to it! I also love that this pattern really draws your eye up and emphasizes the 12′ ceiling. It makes the room feel much larger in person! We haven’t decided if we’ll rehang the art or not (it was never purchased for this space and was one I’ve owned for probably a decade). For now we’re loving the space as is!

My Home Office
My home office was intended by the builder to be the primary bedroom. It sits at the front of the house on the main floor. We prefer to sleep upstairs, and this was a better location for my office, so we make it work for us. It is still a major work in progress, but I do have this nice view of the pond from my desk (when the room is picked up).

I only have a photo of the adjoining primary bathroom decorated for Christmas. So here ya go 😉

Our Coastal Loft Living Area
As we move upstairs, we have this open loft living area space.
Admittedly we don’t use this space a ton, but it is nice to have an additional living space since we don’t have basements here. I’ve never allowed TVs in the bedrooms so this is our only other TV in the house.
From this view you can see how the space opens to our entryway below, and then off to the right is the door to the cat room. It’s basically a small bedroom and bath where we keep their litter boxes and some cozy spots for them when we need to lock them up.

Our Coastal Bedroom
The bedroom upstairs we use for our room was initially intended to be a bunk room. Although it’s fairly small, it the vaulted ceilings help it to feel much larger! We recently added pinch pleat drapes to our room and the space feels so much more finished.

In our adjoining bathroom, we recently wallpapered and love the personality the stripes add to the space!
I’ve had a sample of this Striped Wallpaper for as long as I can remember (I got it many years ago when we lived in Omaha). I’m so happy to finally have it installed in one of our spaces! It’s intended to be hung vertically, but I had it installed horizontally. I couldn’t be happier with how it looks now in our bathroom!
Because it has little wall space, I also chose to have the paper hung in the adjoining room with the shower and toilet. Half the walls are wrapped with subway tile due to the shower stall, so it was an easy addition to wrap the remaining drywall in paper!

Coastal Guest Bedroom
Moving down the hallway is our guest bedroom. We’ve only had a few guests actually stay here, since most will stay in the carriage house so they have more privacy and flexibility with coming and going! It also took us about a year after moving in to even decorate this space.
With the bold palm print pattern we used on the adjoining bathroom walls, I wanted to keep the bedding timeless, clean and serene but also not boring. Although it’s still mostly all-white, I used different textures and more layers. I finished the look off with these cute block print throw pillow covers! I always love when I can find covers instead of pillows with sewn in fill or inserts. They’re easier to store and then I can re-use my own inserts.
We’ve had this 4-drawer dresser for three or four years and it was one of the few items that made the trip down to Florida! Our guest bedroom is pretty small, and the layout with three separate doors and three windows makes furniture placement challenging. But this dresser fits perfectly between these windows opposite the bed.

This fan palm wallpaper in the adjoining bathroom may be my very favorite of all! I’ve loved fan palms for as long as I can remember, and it’s even more fun that they’re a native species here where we live in Florida. I’ve loved the blue version for years (and almost used it at Hola Beaches!) but thought the neutral was a safer option here – particularly with the blue vanity!
This bathroom is super tiny so picture me squatting in the bathtub to take this next photo. I had to use my wide-angle lens for these images, hence the extra elongated toilet 😉 But man, this print just makes me so happy!

Our Coastal Outdoor Living Space
Moving back downstairs and past the living room through the sliding doors, we have a large screened in porch. The 10’x16′ slider can be opened to 10’x12′, where basically the last panel on the left houses the other three. It makes for a really great indoor/outdoor living situation when the weather cooperates!
We’ve already spent countless hours out in this space. And the cats have probably spent double that, really bringing their catio dreams to life 😉

To the right of our outdoor living area is our outdoor dining space and outdoor kitchen. This is another spot we have really utilized a lot ever since all the furniture was in place. We are big fans of eating outside as often as possible!
As part of the kitchen, we have a grill, mini fridge and some drawers for storage. We’ve never had a built-in grill before and we’re really enjoying it!

Past the screened-in porch is our backyard. If you’re interested in all of the details about our pool, be sure to check out our Florida pool details post. The stairs leading up to the carriage house are to the immediate left of this photo.

In the cabana, we’re still using our Walmart swivel chairs that are currently on their fifth season! These are still the original cushions and they’ve held up like a dream. We still need to purchase an insert for the fireplace, so that’s on the agenda to handle this year.
