Monthly Recap – June 2026

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! While June isn’t entirely wrapped up, I expect the next few weeks to be a bit crazy with our move so thought I’d share our monthly recap a bit early. We hope to be closing on our new house this week if all goes according to plan so it should be a really exciting week! Here’s what we’ve been up to over the past month or so.

Home Projects & Updates

I shared a big new build update recently, but a lot has already changed in 10 days – thankfully!

This past week, they uncovered most of our floors and countertops so that they could start some light cleaning and look for items that need touch ups. It completely changed the overall vibe and really helped us see a light at the end of the tunnel with this build!

The walls still need to be painted and you can see the doors and trim are in the process of touch-ups. But it’s starting to look like a real home!

The yard was fully landscaped last week which really started to feel like we were turning a corner! The pine straw has since been added to all the beds.

One of the most exciting parts of the week was when they plastered the pool, and they ultimately started filling it Saturday afternoon!

By Sunday morning it was about halfway full, and when we drove by on our Starbucks run this morning, it was completely full!

There was already a full house bright and early this morning, so we’re hoping a lot gets wrapped up between today and tomorrow when we’re supposed to get our Certificate of Occupancy!

Around Town & For Fun

Wow, what a month! Lots of rain around here, but also a lot of pretty rainbows, and landscaping that is back to thriving!

Kurtis spent the first week of the month in Omaha for work, so I naturally hosted a girls night. It was our last one in this house! Everyone’s schedules are always so busy so it’s nice when we can all find a night to get together and catch up.

Kurtis and I only hit Amigo’s once or twice this month, but it’s always fun when we do go!

We also only made it to the beach one day in June (and zero times to the pool) which is out of character for us. But, between trying to pack and some rainy days mixed in, we didn’t get down there as often as we would have liked to. We’re hoping that changes for late July thru the rest of the season into November once we get moved and settled!

We had a small dinner and fun night in at Marissa’s to celebrate her birthday! Our little friend Alma was the photographer for the night 😉

Our beach club recently opened a golf-cart-only path between our neighborhood and two golf courses that are part of the club. We’ve always enjoyed the food there, but by car, the drive was probably 20ish minutes (you go over the bridge towards Panama City Beach and enter a different county). But, our golf cart ride takes about 12 minutes and it’s a much more fun experience! So we’ve headed over there for dinner a few times and really enjoyed the change of scenery. We see a lot of wildlife each time as the path is rather rustic and runs along the woods but it’s fun to be in the open air for the drive! They always have such beautiful landscaping and planters and the clubhouse is where Kurtis found the vibe he wanted for his future office.

I’m still very much in my sourdough era, even though Kurtis is the only one that usually eats it. But, I still make my weekly loaf per his request. After making it now for two years or so, I still feel like I still don’t have much consistency from loaf to loaf. Ha!

The younger brother of our Omaha besties and his wife were in town for vacation so we met them one night at Scout for happy hour! We hadn’t seen them in a few years (they live near Orlando so only came to Omaha once or twice a year) so it was fun to catch up with them!

The cats can definitely sense something is up, as we’ve essentially boxed up most of the house. We’re hoping to get everything in place over at the new house before we bring them over. Still waiting on those delivery calls 😉 Henley definitely is more sensitive to changes but she’s been outside a lot more on the screened-in porch, which I think helps quite a bit!

Rachel recently hosted a girls’ night dinner and we had made vision boards. Some of the ladies had more long-term goals and dreams, where I focused on the immediate near future and our new home, etc. Our junior photographer Alma took some fun snaps per usual!

Our vision boards were all digital since none of us had a bunch of magazines to use. Here is how my vision board turned out. I won’t go into the little presentation we each gave after we all wrapped ours up. But it was a fun “craft” night! We’re all commited to doing more activities like this over the coming year.

On the polar opposite side of my pretty vision board – In case you’re wondering how beautiful our house currently looks, this is the state of our dining room (with the entire first floor in a similar state). And this was after we had removed nine large boxes with mirrors!

It’s basically a non-stop revolving pile of chaos around here, as items arrive for the new house, but we’re also trying to pack up the stuff we’re taking with us. But Henley has been obsessed with these dining chairs that are for the new carriage. I haven’t broken the news to her yet that the foam isn’t permanently going to be there 😉

We ended the weekend with Rachel making us dinner and then going on a golf cart ride around the neighborhood! Always a fun tradition to get back to.

Based upon how the last two weeks have gone, I’m not sure what my posting schedule will look like this week or next week. I’ve also come to the conclusion that I don’t know how anyone builds a semi-custom or custom new home without being a few minutes away. It’s wild how much of our time this has taken up, especially recently! But today our first piece of furniture is getting delivered at the new house (this coffee table), so it’s getting real!

I have a lot of content to share, but I’m trying to give myself grace until we get this house wrapped up. I’ll try and continue to share more live updates on my Instagram if you want to follow along!

We’re beyond ready to get moved, settled and back to even a semi-routine! We’re almost there!
