Good morning! Long time no talk! It’s been a busy few weeks around here so I apologize for my lack of posting. I’m hoping to get back on track this week, but here’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to recently. I’ll be switching around two of my sections in this post to get you all up to speed this week.

Around Town & For Fun
The biggest update of the past few weeks? We drove down to Florida – with the cats! We plan to be gone for a few weeks, and with Bailey being insulin dependent and requiring a shot every 12 hours, we felt badly leaving them with a sitter for that long. Plus, we’d miss them too much!
So, we made the trek down on the 19th, arriving the 20th. We had an overnight stay in Clarksville, TN the first night. The cats did much better than we expected them to on the drive. It was honestly our biggest stressor about the trip, but they were little rockstars! I’ll plan to put together some tips and things we did ahead of time to help prep them. Hawkeye really enjoyed our first night on the road in our pet-friendly hotel. For those that have followed me since our last house, you may remember he did this all the time in our kitchen.
We’ve closed off part of the house from them, but they settled in super quickly. I think they were mostly grateful to be out of the car, as were we! That 18 hour drive is no joke!
We ordered new cushions for the porch swing at the house and we’re letting the cats use the old one until we leave. They’re definitely a fan of Florida air and more outdoor time! Hawkeye gets a really bad limp on his front leg in the wintertime (we’re assuming it’s arthritis related?) but it immediately went away after the first full day we were here! Turns out winter disagrees with him as much as it does us 😉
The first few days were filled with a lot of errands for the house. The closest Lowe’s and Home Depot are 30+ minutes away, so there’s been a lot of driving. Now that we have our supplies and things ready, this week will be filled with a lot of touch up paint, assembling garage organizers, assembling furniture and waiting for deliveries! I’ll share more about all that further down in the post.
We also managed to squeeze in quite a bit of fun so far, too. Our friends Rachel (Pinteresting Plans) and Chris, who we bought the house from, live here full time. Our mutual friend Ashley from House of Fancy and her family were also in town for part of the week last week so we had dinner together a few nights. I’m wearing this top in the super flattering pic below 😉
Rachel and Chris have one of the most beautiful backyards I’ve ever seen. So beautiful at night too!
We’ve made it down to the beach twice, and the water continues to amaze us every time. It’s absolutely stunning down here! And it’s literally the most sugary soft sand we’ve ever felt. The water temp is still freezing, but it sure is pretty to look at!
Kurtis and I rented bikes for the rest of our stay, just around the corner at Salt Air 30A. It was fun to cruise around on them yesterday morning and enjoy some fresh air!
We also went to our first ever Mardi Gras party yesterday afternoon! We were invited to another one later this week and already looking forward to that! I wore this cardigan last night, and already love it so much!
Did you know golf cart parades are a thing down here? So cute to see them all decorated!
Kurtis still has to work during the days while we’re down here, so I anticipate I’ll be in more of a work versus vacation mindset this week. I need to get a lot of things done! But the weather is so beautiful, I need to start doing all my computer work outside!

Home Projects & Updates
Lots of fun updates have been in progress over the past week at Hola Beaches! I’ve been sharing a lot of the behind the scenes activity on our dedicated Hola Beaches 30A Instagram account if you want to follow along!
The new counter stools arrived quickly in Florida and I am already excited about this little change. The old ones had seen better days and were rather oversized for the space.
But even more exciting was swapping out the old pendant lights. They felt too small for the space and we both love how new drum pendants look in the space! I need to get our design plans published and then I’ll share how things are turning out. Rentals are super competitive down here, so while lighting swaps aren’t a necessity, I think simple touches like this are going to help us compete with some of the even more luxurious properties.
The desk we ordered for Kurtis also arrived last week! These two immediately claimed it as theirs when we got it upstairs and were trying to put it in place.
I absolutely love the details on the drawers! It’s the perfect piece to double as a nightstand and desk! Once we have more of this room put together, I’ll plan to share how it all came together!
I had a friend message me on Instagram Thursday morning that her favorite store down here, Be Casa, was doing a sidewalk sale that day. I ran into my friend Marissa there, and we both found some really cute items at great prices! I know most of you aren’t local to 30A, so I’ve linked some similar options to a few of the items below. Just click any of the graphics to go to each of the items.
I finally assembled one of these nightstands over the weekend and I hated every minute of it. Ha! It seriously felt worse than assembling IKEA furniture. SO MANY PARTS!! But, I do think they’re really cute, and the quality is solid. I need to make an adjustment to one of the drawers, but other than that, we’re happy with them. They are also slightly shorter than many of our other nightstands. I still have to assemble the other one and am already dreading it!
The new living room chairs are set to arrive today, and we have two beds coming over the next week. Then, we’ll have to wait to make more updates until the next time we’re down here. Not sure when that may be, so we’re trying to crank out as much as we can in our remaining time on this trip!
We’ve been counting our blessings daily while we’ve been here. There is so much to be grateful for, even more so when there is so much pain and destruction in our world today. We don’t take it lightly and take time each day to really appreciate all we have and to pray for peace and comfort in our world.

Hi, Sarah –
I’m so glad I saw your post today! We were going to try and find a time to come rent your place this fall, but seeing that the cats are there, we cannot. My husband is crazy allergic to cats, even when they aren’t in the home but have shed there. It might be helpful for others to notate that on the listing so allergic guests don’t rent the space and then wonder why they are congested and scratchy the whole time!! Your place is BEAUTIFUL, though! I hope your schedule fills up quickly!!
Sarah says
Thanks for the feedback, Sarah! This is likely a one-time deal with them here. The house doesn’t have any carpet and we’re actually replacing most of the rugs and furniture that they have come in contact with before we leave. The house is also thoroughly cleaned in between every stay. But I totally understand if your husband is super allergic!
Christine says
Such a beautiful house! I agree with Sarah K. My husband is also super allergic, even if the chair has been cleaned. We have friends who’s cat passed away ten years before my husband sat in one of their chairs and he was miserable. We couldn’t believe it. Definitely something to consider for your guests, and it’s good to hear you’re replacing the furniture. Your house is so wonderful and deserves everyone being able to enjoy it.
