I’m finally in the home stretch for ordering the bulk of the items we’ll need upon move-in at our new house. This is the first time we’ve sold a home 100% furnished and decorated, so it’s been quite the project to get things re-ordered and timing everything so that the bulk of the deliveries can occur once the new house is ready (rather than having to move them from our current home to the new one).
But with that, I’ve also wanted to capitalize on sales as much as I could in order to make our budget stretch as far as possible! While there are a bunch of spaces that won’t be 100% furnished when we move (or even for months to come), I wanted to ensure we had all the essentials like beds, sofas, counter stools, etc. as quickly as possible in the process. The accessories, textiles, and final touches can all come later. Although I already published a guide to all the best weekend sales, today I’m sharing what I ordered over the past week during all the sales. This is obviously not a standard “weekend order” with the move coming up and the volume of items we need to replace, but I thought it would be interesting to share what caught my eye. Thankfully we closed on our current home last month, so we already had the cash handy to make the purchases!

I recently shared a post with all the items we’re repurchasing for our new home (some for the second, third, fourth, or even fifth time)! So, some of those items are included in what I purchased, but there are also quite a few more items that I finally made decisions on, and purchased while on sale!
Thomas Square Coffee Table
I came across this coffee table when I was shopping locally and immediately fell in love with the size, shape and tone. After a few months of thinking on it (and finalizing other items in our living room plans), I decided to order it while it was on sale! Turns out they also sell it here (also on sale for the same price), but you’ll pay freight shipping charges with it vs. free shipping at Wayfair.
The Serena & Lily Sale
I’m glad I held out for this one! Despite some of the shipping times getting tight (mostly on the upholstered custom pieces), the sale was worth waiting for because everything is 25-40% off plus clearance items are an extra 10% off! I’ll actually have less Serena & Lily in our new home than in our current home, but the pieces I wanted were worth waiting for a big sale! Here’s a highlight reel of some of the items I finally ordered:
- I finally committed to these swivel counter stools for our kitchen. Thankfully I only need four because they’re an investment, but the fabric is one of the most indestructible out there! You can see our kitchen design plans here. Since the bulk of our kitchen is white, I knew I wanted a little personality thrown in with the counter stools.
- Large-scale outdoor lighting can be crazy expensive (and we need two fixtures for our back porch). So we talked it over and ultimately decided to order these rope chandeliers we currently have on our back deck because we love them so much! The markdown is great, plus they qualify for the additional 10% off!
- I ended up ordering the banquette for our carriage house! This was one of the items I’m most excited for in the new house. I can’t wait to use our future carriage house (that’s connected) more than we use our current one (which you have to go outside to get to). I’ve already decided this will be our puzzle & game table seating! Which also brings me to these chairs (not Serena & Lily) that I ordered this weekend, too. You can see them both in action in these carriage house design plans.
- Our outdoor swivel chairs. We also own these (and actually got them back in Omaha years ago). They’ve held up remarkably well outdoors, are large and very comfy, and the fabric options performed at the top when I did this fabric test. They’re an investmentment, but I know they’ll last us for years and years to come.
- I decided to order this wood & marble buffet table for our dining room (see the plans here). I also got a few other pieces from this collection because I saw them in person a few months back and they’re stunning!
You can see a review of all of the other Serena & Lily items we own in this post. Below you can see our rope chandelier and outdoor swivel chair (in Coastal Blue) in action on our back porch.

Woven Counter Stools
For the carriage house, I hadn’t really thought through counter stools when I shared these design plans. But when I came across these woven counter stools, I knew they’d be the perfect option to pair with the other elements in the space. They arrived within two days so we already have them and think they’re perfect! Not super fun to store until we move, but I wanted to make sure I got them while they’re on sale!
Here’s a look at how they compare to our swivel counter stools (in our very rainy holiday weekend weather). We liked that they have a back but still tuck below the counter since that space in the carriage house will have a lot going on!

The Rugs
I purchased a few rugs for our new home a month or two back on another sale. But, I wanted to snag the bulk of the remainder this weekend. Laying down rugs (particularly when you already have furniture) is basically a nightmare for us and a source of fights. So, I knew I wanted as many on hand as possible so we can get them set before any of the furniture arrives. Thankfully there is a major sale at my favorite rug brand right now. They have 30% off sitewide with code MEMORIAL . Wayfair is also price-matching most of them here if you prefer to order there. We love their indoor/outdoor line – specifically Dash & Albert – (that you can literally bleach, hose-off, machine wash, etc.) but I also got a few wool and jute ones.
- Not the softest under foot, but this rug (also here) is very durable and the exact look I was going for.
- I had already purchased this rug (also here) in the runner size for our kitchen, but I’m ordering the larger size now for the guest bedroom. It’s so soft and I love the colors!
- I ordered this honeycomb rug (also here) for one room already, but they also have this indoor/outdoor version (also here) that looks similar so I may try one of those too since it’s a bit more cost-effective.
- We’re also considering this rug for Kurtis’ office.
- Their rug pads are also included in the sale! Highly recommended, especially with more of the mat-style rugs.
A Nightstand
I’m fairly certain I want these nightstands in a few rooms, so I ordered one of the Antique Taupe to see what the color is like in person. I have an out-of-state friend that owns them a loves them so I need to test the color against other items we’ll be using. Otherwise, I’ll likely go with the white or light oak options! They remind me of these popular nightstands, but for several hundred dollars less (and free shipping)! They also have a smaller version here, but for some reason, it’s currently more expensive than the larger ones!
Cute Home Decor Accessories
While I wasn’t specifically planning to buy any decor outside of furniture, I came across these clearance finds and scooped them up for the new house so we at least have a few items on hand:
- This shell jewelry box
- This silver shell object
- These marble shell bookends
Other Sale Items Worth Noting
As a reminder, you can see all of my top weekend sale picks in this post. Following are some items we already own or will likely purchase while on sale:
- In non-home related finds, this dress was a huge hit when I wore it in Italy, and you can now get it 30% off (I wore a 12 Long) with code 3PPA! This comfy striped dress was another favorite (I wore a 14 Regular since it doesn’t come in long sizes).
- The media cabinets I bought for our carriage house (you can see them in the plans here) just got marked down with an even deeper discount than when I bought them! The nightstands we have at Hola Beaches from that same collection are also on major markdown!
- Our cold-brew coffee machine is 20-25% off right now! It’s the first machine built exclusively for cold coffee (and even has a nitro option!) and brews in under 60 seconds. It also comes with a 30-day guarantee to try it!
- Outside of flip flops, these raffia style wedge sandals are by far my most worn pair of shoes this year! They’re comfy too!
- Kurtis is placing an order for protein bars and more air-dried steak (jerky) from Lineage Provisions while they’re on sale. Their products are pricey but super clean, and rarely go on sale! Use code MD2026 for 20% off (or 30% off first-time subscriptions).
- I’m strongly considering these outdoor dining chairs because I can’t get the style out of my mind. The contrast piping on the blue cushions is so good! This one will likely come down to the buzzer as the end of the sale approaches.
- I need to focus my efforts on finding some table lamps today, as well. The Visual Comfort sale is a good one, but I’m also scoping out Wayfair options too!
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend! I’ll be back this week with some new design plans for our house as well as a few other fun posts!
