Home Projects & Updates
The first half of February was all about prepping our home to sell. Our listing will likely go live tomorrow, which is hard to believe the day as nearly arrived!
In our bedroom, we finally hung this round seashell mirror I’ve had for months. It was a clearance find at Pottery Barn several months back that I shared in a Weekend Sale post, and I love it so much! I need to get some better shots of it in place so you can see the details more.

BEDROOM SOURCES: Slipcovered Bed | Nightstands | Chandelier | Drapes | Curtain Rods | Hydrangeas | Vase | Lamps
Our little helper knows she always gets the most attention when she falls asleep on the tools we need. Ha!

If you missed it, we recently gave a remaining room in our home a little refresh as we prepare to list our home this weekend. You can read about this little coastal guest bedroom, along with how I painted our old raffia nightstands!

SOURCES: Cane Bed | Similar Nightstands | Lamps | Blue Heron Art | Rope Chandelier | Quilted Coverlet Set | Bamboo Sheets | Linen Lumbar Pillow | Wool Rug | Ottoman Cubes
Moving on to progress at our new house!
Last month, I shared that the tile in my office bath turned out much different than the samples and original preview sheets we were provided. You can see that initial image below followed how it looked a week later (before they covered it). I do think it dried lighter, and the grout definitely brightened it up. It’s still a long way from what we expected, but it is improving. Because the pieces are tumbled, the installers said that they could probably replace the really offensive pieces, as well. We’re hoping with even more drying time (the tile store said it could take 6-8 weeks to fully dry). I’m going to pull the cover in another week or two to see if there’s been progress!

Our installer has done such a great job. He’s on the slower side but he’s incredibly detail-oriented. In our bathroom, we chose a 2×9 honed Calacatta Prima marble laid in a double herringbone pattern. I imagine it was rather tedious to lay (he did each tile individually) but it looks incredible!

I’ll save a few more peeks for my next update post, but I couldn’t wait to share our mudroom floor. Here we did two tumbled marble 12×12 tiles laid in a diamond pattern. In the image below they were all still really wet, so overall it will be lighter with less contrast. In the bottom left of the photo you can see two mostly dry pieces (and how the water splash darkens them). While we were in Hawaii, he also finished our laundry room which is the same flooring, but they already covered it so we haven’t been able to see it yet!

We also had another countertop appointment, as well as two different appointments to find the perfect pool tile. Things are coming together!

Our hardwood floors are supposed to be delivered today and then need to acclimate a bit, but it will be fun to watch those get installed. I need to share another big update post because there has been a lot more exciting progress!

Around Town & For Fun
We had lots of celebrations early in the month, with the SuperBowl. I didn’t take any pictures but borrowed this one Rachel grabbed with our friends and her mom and mother-in-law that also live nearby!

Later that week we also had a birthday party for Rachel!

We celebrated Valentine’s Day a night early, with sushi at Aja. The weather was gorgeous and so fun to sit with the windows open! Their patio was fully packed too.

A little Valentine’s Day visit from our resident bear. I looked at the clock on my image, and the date had officially switched over to Valentine’s Day at 12:01 am. Not gonna lie – I’m doing a double look every time I come out our side door from our kitchen now on!

The cats always think they want Kurtis’ nightly Greek yogurt, protein powder and berry “dessert” and will hunt him down. They always think it’s something more exciting than it actually is 😉

We still had several fires for “family movie night” as we call our nightly shows. Right now we’re watching The Diplomat and really enjoying it! Hawkeye thinks my bookcase is a jungle gym now that I’ve cleared a few items off his perch.

We finally had a beach day and I was able to find some shells for my collection! It had been awhile!

We also tried to hit the pool at Camp Creek a few times before heading to the extreme Hawaiian sun. Our winter skin was in need of a bit of a boost!

We left for the Big Island of Hawaii on the 23rd of the month and had such a wonderful time! We stayed at the Four Seasons Hualalai and it was an absolute dream! We headed out two days earlier than Kurtis’ work even started so we had a few days to relax before the 200+ attendees flew in. His company always does such an incredible job with these events

After the business meeting the first day, we have the option to sign up for various excursions with the group the rest of the trip. We always like a mix of relaxation (where we don’t actually sign up for anything) and adventure. This time around, since we’d never been to the Big Island, we signed up for more activities than usual so we could explore. We did a whale watching catamaran tour, a snorkeling tour (which also turned into even better whale watching), and then a day with a Jeep so we could explore on our own.

Hawaii has always been one of our favorite places to visit so it was fun to explore one of the last islands we haven’t visited. But, traveling from Florida is no joke! We had 18 hours of travel time going and over 15 hours coming home. I’ll share more about our trip, including everything I wore, soon!
Because I work best under pressure, we scheduled our listing photos (and my final ortho appointment) the day after we got home. Just a few regrets there 😉 But all of that is technically March so I’ll save those details for our next update. March is likely going to be a bit chaotic with listing our home and showings, so I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!

The Double Herribone in the bathroom looks gorgeous!
Thank you Natalie! We’re really excited about it!
I love, love, love your tile choices! How exciting. Your tile expert is a true craftsman! The one tile that doesn’t match what you had in your head and from the samples doesn’t bother me, and in fact looks natural. Compare it to your seashell picture, which has the occasional warmer shells like the tile!
Thank you Lisa! He has done an amazing job! And I agree – I love the variety in natural stone. This was all supposed to be Carrara though and it’s pretty clear there is some other stone/marble mixed in. I think the ones that actually bother me most are the super dark high contrast pieces on something that was supposed to be relatively light. I’m just hoping those darker pieces lighten up a bit over time!
This is all so beautiful! I can’t wait to see the full reveal! Where did you get your 12×12 tumbled marble tile that you’re using in your laundry room? It’s beautiful and exactly what I am looking for.
Thank you! We purchased it locally at 8FIVE0 Tile. I’ll try and find the specifics on type of marble (it just says gray marble and white marble on my order sheet).
