Under Contract!

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’m thrilled to share that our home is officially under contract! Here’s the scoop.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Before we jump into it, if you’re newer around here, you can read more about why we’re moving in this post. I have a lot of new build items to share as well, but you can read the most recent version here.

As I shared last week, we got home from Hawaii for Kurtis’ company trip on Tuesday morning. I had previously scheduled our photos for the day after we got home, so we had a lot to prep once we got back in town! Our good friend Guillame took all the photos and did an incredible job. He is the owner of Family Photography 30A, and is also the one that took pics for us when Jill and Nick and the girls were here last fall. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a 30A photographer! He is much better than I am at capturing our indoor/outdoor spaces so it was fun to look through all the photos, particularly spaces I haven’t been able to share very well in this capacity!

He also took some really cool drone photos. Some of our stealthy friends and family even spotted our new house in the aerial shots! I think I’m going to miss our peaceful little pond (on the right) the most when we move. You can see the golf course pond (which Kurtis’ new office will overlook) on the left.

Here you can see our home’s proximity to 30A and the beach! And Kurtis’ favorite – Starbucks in the little town shopping center 😉 The town you’re seeing on the left on the water is Alys Beach. Most people are shocked to see just how wooded this area is when you’re not along the sand.

Our listing officially went live on Friday afternoon! We were allowing showings starting Saturday morning and knew pretty quickly it would be a busy morning.

With that, we packed up the cats and took advantage of Rachel and Chris’ offer to use their carriage house with the cats. Henley and Hawkeye lead very sheltered lives, so any little changes seem very big to them. But they were total troopers and seemed pretty unaffected for the most part! This carriage house has the exact same layout as our new one so it was fun to give them a preview of what’s to come, even though they have no idea what’s happening 😉

The first two sets of showings made us verbal offers rather quickly, and we were in shock! By early afternoon we were officially under contract. It all felt a bit surreal!

The best news of all is that the buyers are allowing us to stay in our home until our new one is ready! There is a deadline of 7/31, but we feel like that should be more than achievable and still allow us time to move out our personal belongings and get the space deep cleaned. But ask me again when I deliver the news to our builder this morning 😉

We ultimately decided to sell our home fully furnished, so now that we’re under contract, I need to get a move on ordering essentials like beds and sofas and pieces we’d need right away. I’ve already found that one of the beds I wanted isn’t available to ship until late August or early September. Yikes! But there is also another sense of relief at only having to pack up our personal belongings since all furniture and decor will stay with the house. I said the only decor I was really attached to was my seashells, coral, some books, and that’s it!

Thankfully I have loads of fabric samples on hand from various retailers. As I mentioned, now that we officially know we aren’t taking any furniture with us, I can make a much bigger dent in my design boards. I had tentative ones made as I was doing some initial orders, but it was difficult to commit without knowing for sure. We’ve both agreed with 100% certainty we’ll be ordering our same sofas again (I have the full specs of what we currently have in this post). The only change-up is that we might go with a blue color. But other than that, I have a lot of decisions to make fairly quickly! Thankfully I have a short-list for most rooms already compiled and just need to narrow down from there.

Thank you to everyone who is following along with us on this journey! It’s been exciting to share with all of you, and I have a lot more to catch up on soon!

Congratulations on selling your house, I must say the new buyers are sooo lucky to be moving to, what I consider, my dream home.
And I can hardly wait to see the unveiling of your new, absolutely fabulous home. Just seeing the photos you’ve shared so far, I know it will be a design showcase!

Well while I am excited to see the new furnishings- because I love everything you do with decor, you had sourced so many amazing pieces for your home. Loved all of it over the years! I guess sometimes a fresh start is best! Looking forward to this summer when you start that journey! Cheers!
