Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday weekend! We had a good mix of busy and lazy days – exactly what we needed. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to this past week.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

Over at the new build, we have some serious progress that occurred last week. We’re talking paint, hardwood floors and more! In fact, so much has already changed, I’m planning to do another dedicated new build progress post later this week so all the info is in one spot. I didn’t realize it had been since January that I last made one of those posts!

I’ll share more later this week, but we also had to trek out to a local countertop slab store. We had already picked a surface we loved, but the builder is changing up vendors on us. So we basically had to start from scratch (and had about a day to do it). Definitely not my favorite way to do things, but we found something else we both loved. I’ll share more in the dedicated post this week. Here is a peek at the granite we’ll be using on the outdoor kitchen counter.

I’ve slowly been transitioning things over from spring to summer at our house. I don’t want to go too crazy since we’ll be moving in about two months, but it’s fun to make some simple changes for the season! In our entryway, I swapped the tulips for this small greenery tree and I’m pretty obsessed with it! I placed it inside of this white ceramic vase I already had and love how it all turned out. Especially since it was a quick five minute change up!

I felt like our living room needed a little bit of greenery so I got this small faux fiddle leaf fig to add some life to this little corner. I’m really happy with the quality of both pieces!

Around Town & For Fun

Kurtis spent most of the work week in Chattanooga, so I was able to get caught up on things around here after being in Salt Lake for eight days prior. My dad continues to heal well from his open heart surgery, but I think the hardest part now is not being able to lift more than 8 lbs for the next few months. He’s a do-er like me, so taking it easy doesn’t always come naturally!

Saturday morning, Kurtis and I made the trek to Orange Beach, AL. We were offered tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert there, thanks to his rum company Blue Chair Bay, so we decided to take an overnight trip! The drive is usually about 2.5 hours (excluding holiday traffic) so very manageable! When we arrived Saturday afternoon, we had lunch at Coastal and really enjoyed it! Their property is beautiful and right on the gulf.

That evening, we headed to the concert. We were provided the VIP treatment and had such a great evening!

Both Kelsea Ballerini (who was the opening act) and Kenny Chesney were phenomenal. The concert was full of energy and it was the perfect evening outside at The Wharf amphitheater! We were so glad we decided to go. Side note: if you’re an Outer Banks fan, Chase Stokes is dating Kelsea and he surprised them on stage with a shot of tequila for one of their songs. I haven’t seen the show so I had to look up why the crowd was as excited to see him as the two musicians 😉

We drove home Sunday morning and then spent a few hours at the beach with a bunch of friends. It was by far the busiest we’ve ever seen the beach, but it was also the most beautiful day!

We went straight from the beach to our favorite restaurant, Amigos 30A.

Yesterday we kind of bummed around the house and got caught up on some sleep from the past few weeks! I also made the spicy cucumber salsa we love so much since it feels very summery. It was just as good as we remembered. And now that I’ve been using this vegetable chopper it takes a fraction of the time it used to, and the pieces are smaller so you get a better ratio of ingredients!

I also spent some time out on the catio with the cats. Hawkeye has been extra mischievous these past few days (likely due to one or both of us being gone for nearly three weeks).

These two became buddies again when they were looking for geckos together. It was pretty dang funny to watch. They like to “hunt” through the screen, which really is nothing more than just watching geckos run around. Ha! As a side note, our favorite outdoor swivel chairs are currently $200 off last year’s price for the set. Inventory is already really low, so I expect they’ll be hard to find by the end of the week if you were hoping to get your hands on some. Our fluted resin planters are even more difficult to find, but keeping checking back as they do go in and out of stock frequently.

I always feel a bit off after a long holiday weekend and starting the week on a Tuesday. I think it’s even harder to believe that we’ll already be into June this week! With the move likely happening in mid-August, it’s crazy that we need to start the packing process again. Definitely not ready for that, but we are also definitely ready to officially get more settled!

We’re excited for the summer months ahead!
