Good morning! As I mentioned in Saturday’s post, I apologize for disappearing for a week last week. Our friends were here for a week and then I got hit with a bad stomach bug and was in bed several days most of the week last week after that. So, today’s Weekend Recap will cover the last two weeks of what we’ve been up to around here!

Home Projects & Updates
We have a second story at the new build! It’s all framed up (no stairs yet) and it looks like the rafters were delivered late in the week, so they might start framing the roof this week. Here you can really see just how long and narrow our house is. The structure in the back is the garage and carriage house above it.
It’s been a lot of fun to show our friends and family these past two weeks where our new home will be. The carriage house was also framed out (we climbed in the one next door to get a picture of ours). It’s going to be such a great feature to have when people want to visit, because it’s essentially a mini apartment over the garage!
One of the features we’re most excited about is the 16’x10′ slider we added to the back of our house. Essentially our back living room wall will be all glass because of that, and will look out onto the screened-in porch, pool and woods behind that. I think we’re the only ones that chose to do that, so it will be a really cool and unique feature!
I’m still planning to do a Christmas home tour to share with you all if I can ever get a moment when our house is clean to take some photos! After the first of the year, I’ll also be digging in to some of the new build details much more deeply. I have lots to share already on paint colors (interior and exterior), room designs, selections and more. It’s going to be an exciting year ahead!

Around Town & For Fun
Three days after we arrived home from my brother and sister-in-law’s house in Idaho for Thanksgiving, our BFFs from Omaha flew in with their girls (our goddaughters)! They stayed for a week and we were able to show them around all of our favorite spots.
Thankfully the weather was absolutely beautiful, in the low 70’s and sunny most days. Which meant the girls were totally content swimming in the heated pools!
They were also big fans of the beach! Elle loved the sand, and Zoe loved dipping her toes in the gulf with Kurtis.
Jill and I went to the Rosemary Beach Foundation holiday home tours. We toured five of the six homes and had lunch at The Pearl. It was a really fun few hours! The house below was my favorite. I had already cyberstalked it on Zillow months back when we were looking to move here. It was way out of our price range, but the features were stunning. The Christmas decor was very simple but elegant and I was just excited to get inside and look around!
I loved the details on this pretty vanity!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking Seaside has the only cute post office along 30A! The Rosemary Beach post office is another favorite! This is actually our voting station too, so it may very well be one of the cutest voting spots in the country.
We took the girls to a park, a DJ dance party at The Hub/Big Chill, had ice cream multiple times, made a play room out of the bunk room at Hola Beaches and lots more.
We also went to our neighborhood’s tree lighting ceremony. We really didn’t know what to expect, but they did such a cute job with all of it! There was face painting, s’mores, a station for letters to Santa, games, and a visit from Santa. It was a lot of fun and the girls had a blast.
Our last night together, we had dinner at Old Florida Fish House and finally got a group photo!
Needless to say, Zoe was not happy when she found out it was time to leave (she thought Hola Beaches was their new house) and told her parents she wanted to move in with us. I had to explain to her this was just vacation for everyone, and in Florida you still have to go to school and work and do chores. It’s not fun every day. I don’t think she cared 😉
The day they left is then when I got hit with the stomach bug in the early morning hours and was basically out all week. It was no fun! But thankfully I’m feeling much better. This was the scene much of the week (Bailey was literally laying on my legs). I think the cats actually prefer it when I’m sick. Ha!
Saturday morning we drove in the car to Raw & Juicy, rather than taking the bikes. But it was good to finally get out of the house, since I’d been home since Monday! Everything is so quiet around here this time of year. In fact, several of our favorite restaurants actually close between Thanksgiving and Christmas to do repairs/updates/cleaning/etc. or to give their staff some time off after the choas of the busy season.
Kurtis’ parents and sister and brother-in-law arrived Saturday night and will now be here for a week, as well! The weather has been warm and humid, but quite a bit more foggy. We’re hoping we can still treat them to a 30A sunset sometime this week while they’re here. Last night we had dinner at The Perfect Pig for the first time and really enjoyed it! There’s quite a bit of rain in the forecast this week, so we’ll be getting creative with some rainy day activities.
We’re really looking forward to our week together this week! Then I think I might need a nap until 2023 rolls around 😉
