Earlier this week, I shared tips to answer the question “How Many Stools Fit At My Kitchen Island?“. Today I’ll be sharing some of my top picks for coastal counter stools, that range from a bit traditional to a bit modern. Most of these selections also come in a bar stool height. I’ll be focusing on stools with a back, since I also have a post dedicated to Modern Coastal Backless Counter Stools, as well! Before I share my selections, let’s first discuss what to consider when buying counter stools.
How To Select Coastal Counter Stools
The coastal style is a popular interior design trend that can be seen in many homes today. With its relaxed and calming vibe, it’s no surprise that many homeowners want to incorporate this style into their homes. Coastal counter stools are a great way to achieve this look in your kitchen or dining area. Here are some factors to consider when selecting coastal counter stools for your home.
- Material – Coastal style is all about natural materials that reflect the ocean and beach. When selecting coastal counter stools, consider materials such as wicker, rattan, and bamboo. These materials not only add a natural and organic feel to your space, but they are also durable and easy to clean.
- Color – Coastal colors are typically light, bright, and airy. Think shades of blue, green, white, and sandy beige. When selecting your coastal counter stools, look for colors that match your existing color palette. Alternatively, you can use your counter stools as a pop of color to brighten up your kitchen or dining area.
- Design – The design of your coastal counter stools should complement your overall coastal theme. Look for stools with woven seats, curved backs, and decorative details such as shells or starfish. These details will give your stools a beachy and casual look.
- Size and Height – When selecting your counter stools, consider the size of your kitchen or dining area. You want to ensure that the stools fit comfortably under your counter or bar. Additionally, you want to choose a height that allows for easy seating and comfort while dining or socializing. If you’re needing specific sizing help, be sure to read my article on “How Many Stools Fit At My Kitchen Island?“.
- Comfort – Comfort is key when selecting any type of seating. Look for coastal counter stools that have a comfortable seat and backrest. Additionally, consider adding cushions to your stools to make them even more comfortable.
- Durability – Your coastal counter stools should be durable enough to withstand daily use. Look for stools that are made from high-quality materials that can withstand spills, stains, and general wear and tear. Additionally, consider stools with a warranty or guarantee to ensure that you are making a sound investment.
Selecting the right coastal counter stools can be a fun and exciting process. With these factors in mind, you can find the perfect counter stools to complete your coastal-themed kitchen or dining area. Remember to choose stools that are comfortable, durable, and reflect your personal style. Let’s dig into some of my top finds!
My Top Picks For Coastal Counter Stools
In our new kitchen, we’ll need five or six counter stools based upon the peninsula length. We eat the majority of our meals in our kitchen, rather than our dining room, so our stools get a lot of use! We absolutely loved our Riviera counter stools from a comfort, function, and design standpoint in our last house. So much so, I’m considering using them in another color in our new home. But, I’m also wanting to branch out to try an entire new look. But comfort still needs to be a top feature! Following are a few stools worth pointing out before I jump into all of my top picks.
- I continue to circle back to these wood and seagrass padded counter stools. My only concern is the attached fabric seat (for cleaning purposes) and that the back might be slightly too low.
- These rattan stools are a great option for those on a budget! I’ve had great luck with this brand in the past.
- From the same brand, they also offer these woven rattan stools that are a great designer look for less to these stools. We have the dining chair and armchair version and have been extremely impressed with the quality over the years!
- I almost bought the dining chair version of these stools last summer, and I still love the look. I’m always a fan of being able to select your fabric and wood stain, so these continue to circle back to the list of top picks.
- I’ve seen these stools in a number of designer’s stores, and they’re nearly double the price. You know I love a good stripe!
- If cost were no factor, these gorgeous stools would likely be my pick. Even with my trade discount, they’re more than I’d like to spend (especially for six stools!!) but they are beyond beautiful!
Following are more of my top picks for coastal counter stools. I’ve included selections for a variety of budgets, ranging from $110 to just over $1,000 per stool. Tap any of the images below to learn more about each of the stools shown.
