Sharing my 2021 fall design boards and decorating ideas for the new season! These cozy finds include throw pillow, blankets, faux greenery, & other textures that add warmth to your home in the fall months.
Although I likely won’t be decorating for fall until late September or early October, I find it helpful to make design boards ahead of time to gather my thoughts and make a list of what I want to use. This also helps ensure I don’t overspend on seasonal decor that I’ll only use for a few months! If you’re interested in making your own design boards, you can see my full tutorial here. Today I’m sharing my fall design boards for several rooms in our home, along with all sources along the way! You’ll see pretty quickly that I tend to steer clear of super theme-y seasonal decor. Instead, I like to bring in items that remind me of fall or through the addition of extra layers and textures.

2021 Fall Design Boards
Our living room is typically the easiest for me to update. Since the olive tree has been a year-round staple, I usually just update the throw pillows and swap out the other faux greenery in the space! In the fall and winter months, I love to bring in extra texture to our spaces to add to the cozy vibe. That texture typically comes in the form of velvet pillows, chunky knit throw blankets or woven baskets and trays.
FALL LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Gallery Wall Frames | Lamps | Black Cabinet | Linen Sofas | Velvet Pillow Cover | Paisley Pillow Cover | Leather Buckle Back Chairs | Colorblock Striped Throw Blanket | 7′ Faux Olive Tree | Weathered Terra Cotta Planter | Raffia Coffee Table | Weathered Black Vase | Faux Olive Stems | Light Wood Chain Decor | Striped Ottoman Bench
I like to keep the seasonal decor in our kitchen fairly simple. I usually swap out the faux greenery for something seasonally appropriate, and I’m excited to try one of these Faux Turning Maple Branches once it arrives! One branch has over 100 leaves and spans 30″ w x 72″ l, so it’s rather sizable. I also saw these Wood Lanterns in person last weekend, and they were stunning! I’m thinking I may try them in here for fall. They’ll also transition well for the holidays after that!
FALL KITCHEN SOURCES: Natural Wood Serving Board | Navy Blue Wood Serving Board | White Serving Board | Wood Lanterns | Basket Pendant Light | Faux Artichokes | Pedestal Bowl | Cabinet Knob | Cabinet Bin Pull | Dutch Oven | Recipe Book Stand | “Sunday Suppers” Book | Tuscan Terra Cotta Vase | Faux Turning Maple Branch | Runner Rug | Bistro Counter Stool | Paint Colors: Benjamin Moore Simply White and Benjamin Moore Providence Blue
With all the construction going on for the pool house, I plan to keep the dining room super simple. There’s a lot of traffic going in and out of here (in addition to a little drywall repair), so it’s easiest if I keep the space fairly sparse. It will then be easy to dress up with chargers, napkins, etc. if we host any meals in there over the coming months!
FALL DINING ROOM SOURCES: Faux Olive Tree | Abstract Art | Linear Chandelier (look for less here) | Mirror | Buffet Table | Faux Thyme Topiary | Cane Chairs – CB2 (no longer available) – similar here | Round Dining Table | Striped Rug | Weathered Black Vase |Faux Olive Stems | Buffalo Check Linen Napkins (look for less here) | Gold Flatware
I mentioned in this week’s Weekend Recap post that I’m considering painting the den Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. With that in mind, I did a little mock-up of how I envision the space for fall. These Plaid Pillow Covers might be one of the best deals out there! They are sold as a pair and come in six color options. Such an incredible value and the quality is great!
FALL DEN SOURCES: Linen Sectional | Velvet Pillow Covers | Plaid Pillow Covers | Storage Coffee Table | Scallop Light Fixture | Blue Pumpkin Art | Tripod Lamp | Plaid Rug | Weathered Black Vase | Faux Turning Maple Branch | Bone Beads | Striped Ottoman Cubes | TV Stand – Walmart (no longer available) | Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
I’ve slowly been making some changes to our guest bedroom over the past year or so. Now that the bookcase (which was perpetually messy) is gone, it’s fun to style the dresser for the seasons! I’ve also decided to swap out the arched mirrors we’ve had in here for 5+ years over the nightstands for some gallery wall frames!
FALL GUEST BEDROOM SOURCES: Upholstered Bed | Linen Pillows | White & Brown Dot Block Print Pillow | Bead Chandelier | Striped Rug | Raffia Nightstands | White Ceramic Lamps (come as a set of two) | Gallery Wall Frames | Cane Chair | Velvet Pillow Cover | Faux Olive Tree | Woven Basket | Dresser | Round Mirror | Weathered Black Vase | Faux Olive Stems | Small Wood Chain Decor
If you’re itching to decorate with pumpkins, I love these little faux white pumpkins last year in a paper maché bowl. So simple, but a cute way to add a little bit of pumpkins without going overboard!
Alright! That’s all I have planned out so far, but hopefully it gave you a few ideas here and there! I’ll likely also decorate our entryway and possibly our bedroom so I’ll be sure to share those space on the tour if I do.
