Home Projects & Updates
It was an uneventful week in the pool house. Unless you count the fact that we were told the awning window didn’t ship :/ So, it’s another week of wait and see! We’re just hoping it arrives soon because the overnight temps are starting to fall pretty dramatically, and we can’t get the HVAC running until the window is in!
But, in exciting news, our carpet is now finished! I’m not going to lie – I hope I never have to live through that process again while living in a house. Between Henley’s emergency surgery and then having to spend most of the remainder of the week moving furniture from room to room, it wasn’t the most fun of times. But, it’s done, and we’re so glad we finally did it! For those looking for carpet info, it’s the Shaw Natural Boucle in the Beach color. We’re really happy with it so far!
Here’s a quick iPhone snap of our living room the night things wrapped up. We also had the inset carpet in our living room replaced to match the upstairs, since this is the only carpet on our main level.

It’s so odd, but we feel the carpet makes all of our rooms feel larger! It gives the look of a sisal rug, and I love the dimension the pattern adds.

After moving so much furniture and crap around all week, we were quickly reminded as to why we don’t move frequently. It’s a process we absolutely hate! Thankfully I had some cute helpers following my every move all last week 😉
I didn’t get much time to work on my fall decor over the past week with the carpet shenanigans, but I did add a bowl of these faux artichokes to our kitchen and I love the pop of green they add! I also frequently get asked about our wood recipe stand. Mine is about five or six years old and unfortunately no longer available. But I did find this one that comes in three finishes that is very similar! They work great with recipe books or even phones or iPads when you need to reference a recipe. Plus, they double-up as decor!
I’m hoping to share a full den reveal with the new Hale Navy paint soon. But I took this photo right before we had to tear the room down last week. I’m playing around with pillow combos and love this particular one! My exact grid pillow is no longer available (it was on clearance when I bought it), but they do have the reverse colorway still available! I’m still so happy I decided to take this wall darker in here!

Around Town & For Fun
Our little bug, Henley, had surgery last Sunday for a mass that quickly appear on her neck about the size of a marble. I’ll spare you the image of the incision. She was doing fairly well all week, despite kicking at her stitches non-stop. But yesterday, we noticed another mass directly above the incision that essentially appeared out of nowhere again. They said previously it was cellulitis which I don’t know much about. But, I almost have to believe it is forming from her kicking the area so hard, but I’m not sure. We don’t believe it’s a hematoma, because it’s rather hard. But it doesn’t seem to hurt her. In talking with the hospital again last night, they said we could wait until our regular vet opens today. So, as I write this, she’s on her way back to the vet for the day. Poor thing! We’re hoping since our vet is focused on cats, they may have a better idea of what’s going on and can help get a resolution for her quickly! It was a stressful week for her between the surgery and having men in our house doing the carpet. So she’s ready for a spa week or something!
It was our friend Nick’s birthday on Saturday so we had a fancy dinner with him and his brother and wife. It was a such a fun night!
Sunday we went to their house in the afternoon to enjoy some meat he had smoked. They’re still getting settled into their new house, but it’s so fun having them just down the street from us! Elle’s birthday gifts were a little late in arriving, but I think she loved the little gold moccasins we gave her.
We also got her this pink dino slide, and I think Zoe may have enjoyed it even more than Elle. We got a text from Jill and Nick last night saying that Zoe was still using it non-stop.
It was such a beautiful fall afternoon so we spent most of the time enjoying their new backyard! The prior owners had built a pretty incredible outdoor kitchen, firepit area and play space for the kids so it was fun to enjoy it all before the season ends!
In the process of moving so many items during the carpet install, I got a bit crazy and sold a ton of things. My friend Stacy, who I met through FB Marketplace, is always looking for furniture and accessories for her business. So, I called her up and three giant truck fulls later, we’re both happy girls! There were two massive pieces of furniture I had wanted to get rid of. The buffet table from our last house that sat at the top of our stairs and has been on my to-do list to get rid of for years. The other was the huge black cabinet in our living room. We bought both for our last house and they didn’t fit the scale or style of this house. But they were both so heavy we just left them for the past almost nine years. Thankfully she wanted both and now I have two big holes I need to find furniture for. But I’m excited the hard part of that task is over with! For now our wi-fi components will just sit out on the railing, and our lamps and blankets will sit on the floor in the living room 🙂
If all goes well, my goal is to photograph our fall home tour this week so I can share it with you next week! I know I’m running out of time, since most bloggers will be decorating for Christmas already 😉
Our pool officially is getting closed this week. We had moved the date once already in hopes that the pool house would be done, but it isn’t going to work out. It’s always a sad day when the pool gets partially drained and the cover goes back on. But, it should be even more exciting to open it up next spring! And we feel pretty dang good about using it six full months this year!
