A Peek At Our Blue & Green Christmas Decor

Christmas, Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends

My parents flew in last Thursday to help me with Christmas decor, and I’m happy to say my mom and I have it almost 100% wrapped up for the year! While I realize most people are several weeks out yet from decorating, I thought I’d share a preview of some of our favorites finds so far this season.

Blue & Green Christmas Decor

After doing traditional reds and plaids the last two years (links to those tours are at the end of this post), this year I opted to go with with a blue and green color scheme. Shades of dusty blues, olive greens, and chartreuse, with a few brown touches here and there. I’m really happy with how it has all come together so far! Below is a little mood board I had texted to my mom a few weeks back so she could also be on the lookout for items that may fit the vibe. All sources are listed below the graphic.

Blue and green Christmas decor, with coastal accents. Includes a 10' Christmas tree with micro lights, wicker Christmas tree decor, chartreuse Christmas ornaments, dusty blue Christmas ornaments, boxwood wreath wrapping paper, and velvet ribbon in shades of French blue and olive green.

SOURCES: 10′ Christmas Tree (also comes in shorter heights) | Tassel Christmas Tree Collar | Plaid Ribbon | 4″ Velvet Blue Ornaments | Grove Green Velvet Ribbon | Light Blue Velvet Ribbon | French Blue Velvet Ribbon | 6″ Chartreuse Orb Ornaments (smaller size here) | Grass Green Velvet Ornaments | Sparkle Green Ornaments | Coastal Christmas Candle | 12″ Mini Wreaths | Boxwood Wreath Gift Wrap | Artichoke Pillow Cover | Velvet Panel Pillow Cover | Pleated Silk Pillow Cover | Stocking Holder | Dusty Blue Stockings | Wicker Tree Set | Taper Candles | String Lights | 18′ Real Touch Garland | Silver Ornament Garland | Plaid Outdoor Pillow | 4′ Pre-Lit Potted Spruce Tree

A few highlights from this year’s decor:

  • Perhaps one of my favorite finds of the season are these 12″ mini wreaths. If you’ve searched for mini wreaths in the past, you know the good ones go quickly! These ones are a bit more substantial than most (they’re on a small grapevine-like wreath in the back) but they look fantastic on our counter stools and hanging from some of our bathroom sconces (see below). But I also ordered these 7.9″ wreaths and these 9″ wreaths and they’re also great options depending on what you’re looking for. I didn’t use the red ribbons that were included (they’re not attached).
  • I bought these 18′ real-touch garlands to use outside, but ended up needing them for our mantel. For whatever reason, some of my older Afloral garlands have started to dye my hands every time I touch them (humidity?) so I was hesitant to use those on our Venetian plaster fireplace, and saved them for more durable surfaces. This one is more plasticized (not as rubbery) so I’m not seeing any color transfer with it.
  • I got these sheets (in the Olivine color) for our guest bedroom that has a blue bed, and the color combo is so pretty together! They’re also super soft and breathable. If you use code TURNDOWN (until 10/27), you can save $50 off $299, $100 off $499 or $150 off $500 most items sitewide, so I wanted to mention that while they’re on sale!
  • I’m using these string lights on our mantel and garland since we don’t have outlets nearby where the cord won’t show. We strung the ones on the mantel last night and they look great!
  • I added these 4′ pre-lit pine trees to our back deck and they’re perfect there! I love that there are two different sizes of light bulbs. The included pot is rather heavy too, so I don’t need to worry about them blowing over. You could easily add a larger pot around the base, but I plan to leave as is, since it’s outdoors. The code AHTRH should still work for 15% off your purchase! They have some cute Christmas stuff right now.
  • These orb ornaments ended up being my favorite shades of all the ones I ordered (I returned quite a bit)!
  • I’ve used this Norfolk pine wreath for years and love it so much. We used so many this year, I had to order two more to finish up the rest of the spaces.
  • I bought a new Christmas tree this year, and even the guys were impressed with the 3,000 micro lights. The lights are warmer than the Home Depot viral version, which I appreciate. The tree comes in three sizes (we got the 10′ for our 12′ ceilings) and I love it so much!

And here are a few iPhone peeks at how it looks so far! My office bathroom was the staging ground for everything before my parents arrived. So in other words, it was pure chaos 😉

My mom is most proud of her work on the counter stools. They did turn out really cute!

We used the same 12″ mini wreaths on the sconces in our bathroom and my office bathroom and love how they look. Such an easy way to make your bathrooms feel more elevated! You could also use a suction cup if you’d rather they hang from the top of the mirror.

On the staircase, rather than tying a large bow (which uses a lot of ribbon) we opted to do some ornament clusters (with ornaments we also used on the tree) and then just a ribbon tail hanging down. It might be one of my favorite looks yet for the staircase! We just used floral wire to string the ornaments together and to then tie to the garlands. My cedar garland is old from Studio McGee, and I layered it with this Norfolk pine garland.

I couldn’t be more pleased with these blue velvet stockings I ordered. They are the perfect shade of blue and are much larger than many I’ve seen. The piping makes them much more elevated!

SOURCES: Blue Velvet Stockings | Stocking Holders | Velvet Ribbon | Garland (I layered two strands to fill the depth) | String Lights

Lastly, here is how the 4′ pre-lit pine trees look on the back deck. I should have taken a pic last night but forgot, so the lights are hard to see, but they have two different size bulbs and are really cute! The pot is rather heavy too. Again, the code AHTRH should still work for 15% off your purchase!

I had to order a few more items to wrap everything up, so I anticipate I’ll be photographing the entire tour within the next two weeks or so, and will then likely share our full home tour in mid-November or so. But hopefully this post gives you a little inspiration and some insight into where the look is headed!

What an exciting preview. Because your photos read green and sand on my phone, which is my color scheme, I plan to use your mom’s counter stool wreath design on the back of my sand printed stools using the green color wave as it appeared in the pics on my end. Thank u for so many great and inspirational ideas.
