Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend and your week is off to a great start! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to this past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

All the plumbing lines that need to be under the slab before it’s poured were all installed last week.

By the end of the week, they had all of the rebar and wire mesh in place to move forward with the concrete! In talking with the builder’s team, they hope to have the concrete trucks on site either today or tomorrow to get everything poured. They said they can then usually start framing within a few days (and the supplies for that should all be delivered this week)! After six+ months of waiting, it finally feels like we’re making some progress!

Tuesday morning I had an appointment for flooring and tile at 8 Five 0 Tile. And wow, this was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Ha! This store had so so so many tile options and each one was more gorgeous than the last. I worked with Christina and she had so many creative ideas and honed in on my style pretty quickly. We’d pull items over to this long table to play with. I’m still in the very early stages of making any plans, but it was so helpful to see what they’re options were.

In person, I really liked this flooring sample and it sounds like it is one of their bestsellers. It is D&M Flooring’s Silver Oak French oak floors in the whisper stain. If anyone has used this and has any feedback (good/bad), I’d love to hear! It’s been so long since I’ve had to shop for flooring and I love that this one wouldn’t be an upgrade (meaning the full cost would be covered in the amount we’re already under contract for). You can see it in different lighting above (which I feel looks a bit more accurate). My next step is to bring the sample home so we can take it into better lighting. I actually really love the floors we currently have in our home in terms of grain and tone, so if it looks similar it may be a pretty easy decision!

The tile selections kind of blew my mind. But here were some really fun ones I was considering.

Lots of fun to come with the new build!

I ordered this hose and winder set and we got it installed over the weekend. Now that I have so many planters on our front porch, I needed an easy solution for watering. Thankfully we have a spigot on the side of our house that was fairly near to the porch. I specifically looked for a rotating hose winder that would be able to turn and flatten along the side of the house (since this is where our driveway is and I didn’t want to clip it with a car). It has worked out great so far! This hose is smaller than a traditional one (but still 100′ long) so the winder/storage isn’t as bulky as some of the others. It works great (and has more than enough water pressure) for watering our plants and spraying off the deck boards!

Around Town & For Fun

You know it’s going to be a good week when it starts off with this double rainbow that ended in our pond!

Kurtis had a quick trip to Omaha last week from Tuesday to Thursday. He left for the airport while I left for my tile appointment.

After my tile and flooring appointment Tuesday morning, I decided to take 30A back home rather than the highway. It probably takes 3x longer, but it was such a beautiful day, and I quite honestly hadn’t seen the west side of 30A for some time. It’s really only 20-25 minutes from us, but I rarely get over there. I loved this approach at the stop sign to turn onto 30A. There’s not a lot of spots like this where the water is just right there.

While I was on my little adventure from the tile store I popped into Resort Resale, a really great consignment shop with tons of furniture and lighting. I also popped into Lola’s in Santa Rosa Beach and Summer Story in Alys Beach.

By this point I was so hungry, and decided to dine solo at the beach. I need to do this more often and just get out of the house!

I can’t remember the last time I went into Rosemary Beach, and it’s literally only five minutes from our house. It was looking so cute with the planters and street-side tables all set up! I popped into Ex Voto (another favorite store) quickly to see their new arrivals. I then drove over to 30Avenue and visited BeCasa and Bohlert-Massey. So many great stops in one day!

Hawkeye is my little sidekick, but Henley tends to be Kurtis’, especially in the evenings. So when he’s out of town she definitely wants a lot more attention from me. We had fire nights (despite it being in the mid-80’s outside) and watched Love Is Blind. Another evening, I found her sleeping on the grill cover on the back deck. Ha! I had been taking photos out there during the day so had tossed the grill cover, and she thought it was a new bed.

Once Kurtis got back in town, we spent an afternoon at Camp Creek grabbing lunch and hanging out at the pool for a few hours. It was nice to decompress a bit heading into the weekend!

Yesterday afternoon, we headed to the beach for a few hours. The morning started off with red flags, but had been switched to yellow by the time we arrived. We’re dealing with a bit of washed up seaweed this week, but otherwise a very beautiful day on the water! It’s going to be much busier by the time next week rolls around.

We ended the weekend with a golf cart ride around our neighborhood after dinner. The weather is just so beautiful right now!

I’m anticipating an action-packed week over at the new build, so I’m also crossing my fingers that I’m not disappointed 😉 We’re both looking forward to some slower weeks at home with no travel for Kurtis for a few weeks. We’re really hoping to soak up some summer fun and kick the season off right!
