Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
After more time than I expected, my seashell artwork is finally finished and hanging in my office! I’ll share more details soon, including all the inspiration I found if you’re looking to try a seashell project at some point too. This cordless glue gun came in clutch for this project.
I was cleaning my closet and that led to me randomly hanging all of my hat collection (other than the two I use most) in the carriage house. I know that sequence of events doesn’t make tons of sense, but that’s typical for me 😉 I think I need another hat or two, so I’ll share an update soon. But I loosely hung all of them on a nail in case any guests need a hat to borrow (it happens frequently).

If you have one winter throw pillow out and one summer pillow out, does it mix to make spring decor? Asking for a friend 😉 I actually ordered some spring pillow covers that arrive this week so I’m hoping they arrive before we leave on our upcoming trip with enough time for me to photograph it all! I ordered these stems from Pottery Barn (they are massive) and shockingly they arrived overnight which never happens where we live with any retailer. But I think they’re going to be so beautiful in this space with the vaulted ceiling and all the white.

You guys may get a kick out of this. I had pulled our planters late last fall when I assumed most of the annual like the petunias wouldn’t make it. I was in the backyard last week and found these lone petunias, sweet potato vine and asparagus grass (the three items I had at the base of the oleander topiary last year) coming to life! It was wild! One of my oleander is clearly dead from the harsh winter (it’s basically black) but the other two have buds and are about to bloom again!
I typically would have all my planters started by this time of year, but I figured I’d save our house sitters sanity so she didn’t have to water everything while we’re away. So, I plan to start on them as soon as we return from our upcoming trip!
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days! It might be the busiest posting week I’ve had in several years!
Around Town & For Fun
The weather was gorgeous last week with cool mornings and warm days. And the crazy humidity finally left! So we had several days with the windows open, airing out the house. I love fresh spring air!
Kurtis and I went to Cuvee one evening for dinner and their jasmine was starting to bloom!
I had 5″ chopped off my hair and it feels great! It feels short, but I also know it really needed it. And somehow it feels thicker with less length and some fresh layers. Isn’t it weird how that happens?
The trees continue to get greener by the day around here and I have new friends at the pond across the street every day. I still get so happy when I see different animals out my office window. The deer have started appearing again, as well, now that the grass is getting greener. I love when the blue herons and egrets look for fish from the top of this drainage tube.
At this point you’re all probably tired of me showing the 30Avenue green space we go to after dinner at Amigos on Friday nights. But it always feels like a new experience each time we go! Someone had a bubble gun this week, and although it was hard to photograph, the bubbles added that much more charm to the space.
Kurtis flew to Augusta for the Masters early Saturday morning, so I walked with Rachel and Chris to check progress on their new house. They opted to have natural wood planks installed on the ceiling in between their white beams, so there was a crew there installing plywood to affix them to. I’m excited to see how it turns out! The plywood alone already shows how much warmth it will add to the space!
We also peeked into another new build that we frequent (and actually met the new owners who were also visiting)! I really love this vanity color and marble floor tile combo in their powder bath/pool bath. If the color isn’t SW Sea Salt (I know they used that in a few places) it is something very similar.
With Kurtis out of town, I spent most of the weekend at my computer trying to prep for our time away. After working for a few more hours after our walk, Rachel and I headed down to the beach for the afternoon. Well, we lasted about 45 minutes at the beach because the wind picked up rather dramatically. She had a towel around her legs most of the time and I had mine on my head to protect my ears! But it was still so beautiful.
So we then moved up to the pool where it was much more protected (but also much busier)! It was nice to just veg out in the sun and chat for a few hours.
Typically it’s Henley that demands to be let out on the back porch each morning. But yesterday I caught Hawkeye in her usual spot. He was just laying in the bed with his head up, sniffing the air. So cute!
Sunday I logged quite a few more hours at the computer and wrapped up my seashell art as mentioned above. It was such a beautiful day that I realized I needed to get out of my office and at least sit on the back patio to work! The cats joined me and the sun felt wonderful! Now that the humidity cleared out this past week, the weather is absolutely gorgeous.

While I was outside, I could hear houses around me cheering from inside (guessing windows were open with the weather) so I knew I probably needed to at least attempt a peek at the Masters. I thought I might see Kurtis, not realizing there was likely zero chance until I turned the match on. Ha! But I watched the last hole and then the sudden death. And then I started crying. I don’t even follow golf let alone watch it, but it was pretty emotional!
Kurtis flies home today and then we head to Amsterdam later this week for our Rhine river cruise! I was able to wrap up several posts for the days we’re away. I’ll plan to share all the details on our trip once we return, but you can also follow along real-time with our trip on my Instagram page if you don’t already follow me there! It should be a great time celebrating my mom’s 70th birthday with my side of the family!

Hi, Have a great trip! If you get a chance, try Louf bakery in Amsterdam. They have 3 locations and serve really great iced coffees, sandwiches, and assorted pastries. The staff all speak English and are all very kind.
