Good morning! I hope you all had a nice weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
I finally got to work on my seashell project yesterday! I was needing Kurtis to help me hang some nails and get my frames ready before starting.

I’ll share a full post once I’m finished but I found these large shadow box frames and plan to create some seashell art within them for my office. I also ordered these shadow box frames for my much larger shells (they came in white at the time I ordered them a few weeks ago).

It turns out 20×30 is massive and/or my seashell collection wasn’t as large as I thought it was! I’ll be using nearly all of my shells on just one frame. I need to get back down to the water!
So glad I had picked up this cordless hot glue gun a month or two back! It made this project so much easier (and quicker). It also made me realize I hate my old school glue gun with the cord and little metal rest that made glue squirt out when you weren’t using it. Ha! The tip on this is much more focused, too, so it’s great for craft projects.
By the time I got everything laid out, and as I was losing daylight, I’d say I got about 1/3 of the art board glued down. I’m hoping to wrap up the rest today or tomorrow so I can get it off the kitchen counter and onto the wall!
In sad home decor news, my new umbrella that I shared in this post was carried away and broken in a crazy wind storm we had last week. Admittedly, we get so little wind here, I typically leave my umbrellas up and open at all times. I should have known better, but I truly didn’t realize just how crazy the winds were. More on that later in the post. But RIP cute striped umbrella.
But, I was happy to see a lot of trees around town starting to bud this week. I was worried the kumquat topiary above died in our cold weather this winter, but it looks to be making a comeback!
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
As I mentioned above, it was such an odd week weather wise. It was super humid, cloudy, foggy and we had high winds for several days in a row.
I was invited to a lobster bake with Avara on Wednesday night and went with a few girlfriends. We felt so badly for them that the weather was so awful. The event was to celebrate the launch of their summer clothing collection (coming up in a few weeks). You can see some of the other bonfires on the beach that night. They all need to be done by permit, and we were actually surprised the county didn’t cancel them with the winds.
The wind was just insane. I had curled and styled my hair for the event but within about three minutes of arriving, I had to throw it in a bun.
The setup was so beautiful! Everything basically had to have weights on it though so it didn’t blow away.
My hair on salt air and wind. Basically a sticky, curly rat’s nest! When I got home, Kurtis was like “what happened to you!?!?” Ha!
When we were in the Bahamas for Kurtis’ company trip, they gifted us custom Nikes as a souvenir. In the past we’ve been able to choose items like sunglasses or flip flops, etc. Although I’m not a sneaker person, it was so much fun to design our sneakers. You can find my exact pair here and also modify if you have interest (most of my colors are the Light Bone and University Blue with the Light Gum Brown soles and midsoles). Mine are Air Force Ones but there are a number of other sneaker options too. It’s wild how many combos you can make, but I kept mine fairly simple (I know you’re all shocked they’re essentially blue and white). I was excited to see them in person once they arrived this week! Even the box is customized so they’d make a really fun gift, for kids and adults alike! Here is a screenshot from a video I shared on Instagram since I forgot to take a picture!

Varley gifted me this darling knit top, and it has quickly become a new favorite! Especially since I already owned the matching shorts! I take a large in most of their tops and prefer the XL in their shorts and pants. I wore it over the weekend when Kurtis and I headed to Destin and Sandestin for his one-time a year shopping trip. He hates buying clothes and refuses to order them online or go shopping alone. We hit up the outlet malls and then the shops at Sandestin. He claims he’s good for another year now!

We stopped in Pottery Barn quickly, as it’s always fun to see new items in person. They had really beautiful coral pieces throughout the store. I can’t find this particular one online (it was rather large). But these scalloped planters that come in three colors and sizes, and these wood lanterns were also really beautiful!
We had lunch at Tommy Bahama, which is always a favorite when we’re in Sandestin.
We also had a dinner at Amigos with the crew!
I also tried a handful of new recipes. We’re really trying to get out of our usual ruts. This shaved fennel salad was a good one! Very lemony and fresh! It was also my first time slicing fennel – and my first time getting a finger cut from a mandoline. I even knew going into it that it happens, but I didn’t have the blade attached correctly. Thankfully no major damage, just a bandaged finger all weekend!
We fly to Amsterdam next week and then depart from there on a cruise down the Rhine with my side of the family for my mom’s 70th birthday trip! We’re really looking forward to it, and can’t believe it’s already here after planning it for nearly a year and a half!
