How to Make AI-Generated Action Figure Kits

DIY Projects

Today’s post is definitely not a typical blog post around here. But, I wrote this all out for Instagram so I thought I’d share it here, as well. If you’ve been seeing the AI-generated action figure kit and doll kit images like I have all over social media, I figured out how to make my own and thought I’d share. The results are too cute – and quite frankly, kind of addicting to make! They’re fun to share with friends (and I think you could make fun birthday cards or notes out of them). So, I’m sharing the simple step-by-step instructions for making your own AI-generated doll kit and blister pack images.

How to Make AI-Generated Doll Kits & Action Figure Kits

Here’s how to make your own customized AI-generated doll kit or action figure kit image:

  • Login to chatgpt.com (or create an account if you don’t already have one).
  • Upload a photo of yourself (full body is preferred but not required). Then tell the prompt: “Please create an action figure of the person in the image. The figure should be in its original blister pack. Include accessories such as [list items, pets, objects, etc.]. Style the packaging to match a [theme or aesthetic, like coastal, retro, space, comic book, etc.].”
  • Once the image is generated (usually takes a few minutes), you can tweak it by replying with specific changes, such as: “Remove one purse and add a palm frond.”, “Change the title on the box to say ‘Starter Pack.’”, “Make the figure’s pose more dynamic.”
  • You can make several changes, but it does seem to slow down if you make too many. I think the entire world is trying this right now 😉
  • Once you’re happy with the design: Click on the image to enlarge it. Right-click (or tap and hold on mobile) to download or save the image to your device.

💡 PRO TIPS:

  • The more specific your description, the better the result.
  • You can include mood/style (e.g., vintage, realistic, cartoonish).
  • ️Use words like “in original blister packaging” or “full-body figure with accessories” for toy-style output.
  • Use an image of yourself in clothes you love!
  • Sometimes it’s actually easier to start over than to keep trying to modify an existing image. I’ve found it starts to get a little wonky.

My Coastal Sarah Doll Kits

Are you ready to see some of my personal results? I literally could not stop laughing. I loaded my profile pic you see on the blog and my social media sites for reference. It’s wild because you can use nearly the same prompts and get totally different results!

But also, can we talk about how cute Hawkeye and Henley are?!

Somehow my thighs started growing a lot wider and I gained an extra cat. I must not have been saying please and thank you enough 😉

Some started to get a little paper-doll or storybook-like.

I think this one was the best actual action figure/doll vibe but somehow I added a drink and it was a margarita/Diet Coke hybrid. Ha!

I made one for my friend Rachel over at Pinteresting Plans too, and it is spot on!

Kurtis loves expensive things and thinks he needs a private jet someday and then the next day he wants to talk about budgets and scaling back spending. And the cycle repeats. He also loves spreadsheets so I made sure to throw a stack of those in there 😉 His action figure was pretty great!

People often assume he and Chris (Rachel’s husband) are brothers, and these action figures make me see why. Thought I’d share his too, so you can see more examples of items you can include in the kits! He saw this and said he might need to start working out a little more 😉

I hope you enjoyed this random but fun post!
