Home Projects & Updates
As you could likely tell from yesterday’s post with the tour of Hola Beaches Casita, I spent a lot of my work week down at the new rental. Considering the house still had all the original furniture in it as of Tuesday, things progressed rather quickly to have it all photographed on Friday. We’re so excited to finally have it wrapped up – and that we already have our first booking! You can see even more photos and check availability here.

Now that the rental is wrapped up, it will be nice to focus back on projects around our house!

Around Town & For Fun
Monday night, I celebrated one of my favorite people I’ve met since moving to Florida – Marissa! A few of us went to a piano bar in Rosemary Beach to celebrate with her and it was such a fun night! I had to leave a little early for the arrival of our company, so Ashley graciously photoshopped me into the picture 😉
That night, Kurtis’ sister and niece drove in from Iowa! His sister, Teresa, was here with us Monday thru Saturday and Kate is still here with us until Saturday of this week. Kate is in vet school in Iowa and did some job shadowing with some local vets several days, mixed with a little vacay time. This was Teresa’s first time visiting here, so we made sure to do a bunch of the touristy things.
We spent a few days down at the beach. The water has cleared up a lot and has been really beautiful these past few weeks.
We did a little shell collecting at the beach.
We also spent a few days at the pool, either at Camp Creek or in our backyard.
This gauzy coverup set is a fun one (top here and shorts here)! The white is pretty sheer since it’s intended to be a coverup, but I have the black and yellow shorts and would totally wear them as clothes. They also come in pink. This striped swimsuit is really flattering and I love the adjustable straps and sewn-in cups. I’d size up though if you have a really long torso, otherwise true to size. Also: RESTOCK ALERT on these planters!
I’ve been using this tote quite a bit lately too! It’s one of the few I’ve found in this style that zips shut. And these flip flops are great look-for-less to the TKEES brand. The footbed is really comfy on these!
One day while Kate was at work, we took Teresa into Seaside for lunch at Bud & Alley’s (one of the better restaurant water views), a pic at the post office, and a little shopping. She’s a teacher and librarian so she loved the book store.
We also swung into Rosemary Beach for a little shopping!
We took a handful of golf cart rides to Nigel’s for gelato or Bahama Buck’s for shaved us.
We typically only go to Old Florida Fish House when we have guests in town, but we always enjoy it so much when we go!
Lots of fun over the weekend with a potluck and some dance parties and phone calls with our dads. I love that our friend parties usually wrap up by 9 pm. Ha! We brought two giant fruit platters (the other had pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes), and they were nearly demolished in the first hour. I was shocked how much all the kids filled up their plates!
The cats have been loving the extra attention this week too!
We really enjoyed our time with Teresa visiting and can’t wait until she comes back! Kate is with us the remainder of the week, and then Kurtis’ oldest sister, Janine, flies in Thursday. She’ll also spend a few days with us before she and Kate make the long drive back to Iowa/Nebraska. It should be another fun and eventful week!

Hope all is well. Love the beach flags in the white frames. I am the least crafty person in America, so, excuse the stupid question. Did you just glue them inside the frames over the opening for a photo?

Thank you Pat! Yes, I actually just used double-sided tape to hold them in place over the opening. You’ll notice they sit a bit low and that’s why (if they were totally centered more of the opening showed). I probably could have just bought 12×12 cardstock and removed the mat but for the most part, the opening was completely covered. I hope that helps!
