Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’m coming to you a bit late from Palm Springs. I had a long day of travel yesterday and haven’t adjusted to the time change yet. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

We had some major progress over at the new build this week!

We wavered back and forth on paint color (after having made a final decision) but ultimately decided to stick with our initial selection which was Benjamin Moore French Canvas.

What a difference a coat of primer makes on all that trim details on the front of the house! So much prettier on the eyes now!

They then also got a large portion of the roof shingles installed (it’s more brown in person than this image suggests) and painted some of the paint house color. In some lights, we feel like it is reading a bit yellow (which is odd since the undertones are green and gray). I’m trying to reserve judgment until more of the house is done because there is just so much going on right now and so many different colors still all over the house. They’ve only painted the real color (BM French Canvas) in this little nook that connects the garage/carriage house to the house so it’s a hard spot to get a really good look at it.

I really like how it looks in this view from the front porch, so hoping that’s the vibe it gives once more is done! But here the trim still needs to be painted white.

They also installed our two sets of windows in the eaves in the upstairs (our guest bedroom and our bathroom). It makes such a difference with the extra light and helps really feature the vaults! The windows are currently taped with plastic for painting so I can’t wait to see the view after that!

We’re hoping to approve our tile and hardwood selects so they can get the order placed!

Around Town & For Fun

It was a busy week with lots happening at the house and with work, prepping for a week of travel for both of us.

The wildlife continues to be out in full force. Here are Kurtis’ latest walk spottings.

Rachel and I met another influencer friend, Stefana, and her friend one evening to tour her new rental and then to go out to dinner. I’m bummed I didn’t get a photo of us, but we had dinner at Gallion’s and it was lovely. Here’s a picture of my grouper instead 😉

The mornings have been chilly by our standard the past week, so I’m in full-blown comfort food mode. I made my first batch of soup of the season (this tomato soup recipe) and Kurtis made grilled cheese with my fresh sourdough loaf. So yummy!

Kurtis and I had a Thursday night date night at Amigos, since our Friday night one with the crew had been cancelled for the week. When we arrived, the power was out (apparently it went out in our neighborhood at the same time) and it was so odd, but made it so fun! They could obviously still make margaritas and serve chips and salsa, so we waited a bit in the dark and silence for it to get back up and running! It was so odd not hearing all their music and seeing their hundreds of Edison bulbs glowing!

Kurtis suggested we head to the beach for sunset afterwards, and I’m so glad it was one we didn’t miss! I always love this barefoot walk in Inlet Beach.

Such a stunning sunset! It’s always so beautiful in October!

Friday afternoon we hit the beach for a few hours followed by dinner at Bruno’s. We just love these early fall months down here so much!

We saw a cute little turtle in the dunes on our walk back up the boardwalk. According to my Google image search, it’s a gopher turtle!

Saturday morning, Kurtis and I biked to Raw & Juicy in Alys Beach, something we hadn’t done in far too long! It was such a gorgeous morning!

Yesterday, Rachel and I flew to Palm Springs for the Amazon Creator Summit! It was a late afternoon departure so we didn’t make it to our hotel until close to midnight PST. I sent our taxi driver to the wrong hotel, not realizing there were two with the same name. So, for all those that asked, we’re actually staying in Indian Wells. I wore this cozy jacket for our long day of travel.

It’s a short week here in Palm Springs (we already leave Wednesday morning), and Kurtis actually leaves for Omaha for a one-day trip the day I get back so we won’t see each other until Friday. I’m really excited for this conference and to see what it’s all about! Once I’m back, my brother and sister-in-law arrive to visit us for five days so we’re really looking forward to that!

Haha! It wouldn’t have been so bad if we weren’t exhausted and it was super late. But it has been SO beautiful and loving it all so far!
