Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
We’re starting to get down to the wire on a lot of our selections for the new build. I’m working on a big post with all the sources for everything we’ve chosen so far. But, I’ve still been struggling a bit with lighting and just the overall interior aesthetic. We had a final tile/flooring meeting on Friday, so in preparation, I pulled out all of my favorite design books to try and get a little more clarity on the overall direction. I shared this image on Instagram and it sums it up perfectly!

DESIGN BOOK SOURCES: Beautiful | More Beautiful | Forever Beautiful | Island Dreaming | Island Hopping | The Waterfront House | Ralph Lauren A Way of Living | Artful Home | The Well Loved House
As mentioned above, we had our final tile meeting Friday. We need to get the order placed ASAP so it all arrives in time for install. I was wavering on a few of my choices after our last meeting, so it was great to go back and adjust a few spaces. I’m feeling much more confident about everything now! If you’re local 8FIVE0 Tile has so so many beautiful products. I could literally spend hours in there digging through all their samples!

There was a lot more progress over at the house! How cute is Kurtis’ little workout gym/garage now that more of the trimwork has gone up?! We obviously don’t have garage doors yet in the front of the garages. So here you get to see all the way through. It’s not a super big space but he’s already got plans for a great layout that maximizes the layout.

We didn’t get to stop by much during the week because we were busy playing catch-up on work, but over the weekend, they started laying our covered porch flooring which was really exciting! We could finally stand out there and check out all the site lines at the proper height!

I’m not sure we’ve ever stood on the back corner of Chris and Rachel’s porch (which is essentially the same as ours will be). With the fall weather, we were both getting even more excited for all the time we can spend out here! We also already figured out where each cat will spend the most time 😉 That area to the right will have windows installed (we’re not sure where they are!) and then the outdoor kitchen will sit just below that. It will contain a grill, small beverage fridge and sink, hence all the lines running in the walls there.

Early in the week, I had asked Kurtis if we could book a meeting Saturday morning to discuss a few new build items. He’s known for not having an opinion until he does, and then usually it’s too late to change things without a big expense. So, I asked for two hours to go through every cabinet in our current kitchen and pantry to make sure every space was accounted for in the new house. We’re at the stage where it’s easy to change drawers to cabinet doors and vice versa so I wanted to address all our needs before everything gets built. I highly recommend this exercise if you’re building because we both expressed our ideal needs for the kitchen and pantry specifically and now we’re both on the same page (and have a few changes to submit to the cabinet company). By labeling every drawer and cabinet ahead of time, it also makes moving day and unpacking day(s) a breeze!

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Fall has officially arrived on 30A! I had to wear a sweatshirt several times this week in the evenings or mornings and the temp was only 61 degrees when I woke up today! Kurtis shared these images from an early walk he took last week. One direction he could see the sun rising and the other direction was the moon setting.

This little now-five-year-old finally had her birthday back in Omaha and finally had a real birthday cake. She forbade it in Florida when they were here since it wasn’t her real birthday yet. We love you Elle Belle!

And this guy turned 13 yesterday! We had a girls night get together earlier in the week so we celebrated him multiple times throughout the week.

After our tile appointment early Friday morning, we popped into Summer House Lifestyle. They’re doing a big sale for locals and they always have so many beautiful items. I love this weave wallpaper they have in their design room. I still need to find the exact source because they had ordered a sample for me but I think it was from a different spot in their shop because it doesn’t look anything like this. Ha! But we’re pretty sure the brand is Thibault.

I also loved this dining setup. I’d probably swap the table for a wood one to add some warmth. But I also don’t have $30k to drop on dining room furniture, so there’s also that 😉 I did find the dining chair here (it’s super customizable) and the dining table here if any of you non-locals are interested in the source. I wasn’t successful locating the upholstered armchairs.

Friday night we had our usual dinner at Amigos followed by hanging out in the green space. I was actually cold in a sweatshirt and shorts, so it legit finally felt like fall!

I think we were all soaking up the fall weather and loving the beautiful night!

We hung out at home most of the weekend. We opened the windows, Kurtis watched football, we burned this fall candle, and I spent a lot of time working on our new house. It was wonderful having a weekend with no plans and being able to do what we wanted and needed to get done.
Sunday we cranked out a few more items on our to-do list (including holiday travel dates) and then ended the weekend with bocce league! We always have so much fun getting together and it’s always a great way to end the week. I volunteered to help hold the baby and watch the toddler so we could sub in some other players!

Now that the humidity is dying down, the stars are looking so beautiful at night!

I leave Sunday for an event in Palm Springs so I’m looking forward to that! Rachel and I will be traveling together. I’ve wanted to go to Palm Springs for years now and never made it, so I’m excited to check it out! Kurtis then travels for work the day I get home. Once he’s back we have back to back weeks of more visitors (my brother and sister-in-law and then Kurtis’ sister and brother-in-law) so lots of fun in store!

I love your tile choices! When it comes to the summer kitchen, give a look at the Thor refrigerator drawers. We have one in our summer kitchen and it can manage the Florida heat better than most. We had a Jenn-aire fridge drawer system in our beach house and we loved it, but not sure the insulation was enough for our summer heat. Drawers are so much easier to manage! We don’t have any lower traditional style cabinets anymore, only drawers for pots, pans, etc. Thanks for including us in your style choices for the new build!
I appreciate the recommendation! We’ll definitely look into that! And we’re definitely much more drawer people too. We’re trying to limit the lower cabinets as much as possible other than for small appliances and other bulky items. Drawers seem to work so much better for us!
