Good morning! I hope you all had a nice long weekend. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
We were originally told that the foundation at our new house would be poured Monday or Tuesday, and they’d start framing a few days later. Monday a lot of the lumber was delivered so I got really excited!

And then nothing happened all week. Friday morning Kurtis and I were in each of our offices working and we could both hear beeping really loudly through the back sliding door. We both had the same thought. Were those our concrete trucks??
We decided to walk over, and as we rounded the corner to our new street, we were greeted with this beautiful sight!
We wanted to keep out of their way, so we came back later and we were both pretty excited considering this is just concrete. Ha! But it finally feels like we’re making some progress! The concrete was also able to cure a bit longer with the holiday weekend, but I’m really hoping they start framing today. In the pic below, the lower part in the front is the garage area with laundry/mudroom/kitchen behind that. The middle is the entryway and then my office will be off to the right at the front of the house.
I ordered some new fabric and wallpaper samples, some for the new house and some for summer decor yet this year. It was fun to mix up my inspo board I have hanging in my office. I just love a good mix of patterns!

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Last week flew by!
Our friends Anthony and Maddie were in town from Dallas for the week with their family on vacation. We met them for lunch one day and it was fun to catch up with them one-on-one. We typically only see them on Kurtis’ work trip each year (and Kurtis will occasionally see Anthony at various meetings throughout the year). I’m sad I didn’t snag a pic of the four of us!
Kurtis and I headed to Camp Creek for lunch one day. I took a picture of the bathroom doors I’ve always loved because I’m considering a similar tone for the interior doors in our new house. Now I just need to remember to call them and ask what the paint color is!
We had a few golf cart nights with some house-stalking thrown. We were excited this house was open to tour. My friend Ashley helped the builder select the finishes and it was so beautiful!
I invited my friends Ashley and Rachel over one night when Kurtis went to see Mission Impossible with some friends. Her hair kept blowing in my face so I was trying to hold it down, not give her a head massage 😉 Despite living on the same street and knowing each other for over 10 years, we don’t see each other often so it was fun to catch up!
Friday afternoon, Rachel and I head to the beach with our friend Brittany and her girls who were in town from Atlanta. The holiday weekend crowd was quickly growing but it was a fun day and the weather was gorgeous.
That evening we went to dinner with the usual crew, along with Brittany and her girls, and the girls snapped this picture afterwards. About two seconds before the timer went off, Malo yelled at me to hold her. So we’re mid-jump/catch. Such a flattering look. Ha!
It may have been crazy humid, but it makes for a pretty sunset!
Here’s a better look at what I wore for the evening. I was actually pretty good about remembering to take outfit pics this week!
OUTFIT SOURCES: Knit Top | Layering Tank | Seashell Linen Shorts | Seashell Bracelet | Raffia Style Slide Sandals
Saturday morning was the Acton Academy children’s business fair at The Big Chill. We always love to support the young entrepreneurs in our community. Rachel’s 12-year old son Mac, sold these tumblers he designed (he had made one for her as a gift once, and it kind of went from there). You can also buy them here on Amazon if you want to support him! He even figured out how to do drop ship items like this! He also designed the t-shirt he is wearing and had those available for sale, as well.
After the business fair, Kurtis and I headed to the beach for a few hours. If I thought Friday was busy, Saturday was insane! I’m talking four rows of umbrellas deep on the shore. But it is always fun to see the seasons change down here from sleepy beach towns to full-blown tourist attractions. Holiday weekends always amplify that, as well.
Sunday, I attended a baby shower for my friend Marissa. The shower was farmer’s market and fresh florals inspired, and they had this cute make-and-take flower stand in her backyard.
We were asked to come dressed in a sundress, so I wore this striped dress I hadn’t worn since Kurtis’ company trip back in February. Marissa had borrowed this tablecloth from me, so I figured I’d be “on-brand” if I came in yellow stripes 😉
OUTFIT SOURCES: Striped Dress | Coral Earrings (smaller version here) | Fish Purse | Sandals
Later that afternoon, Rachel hosted a last-minute get together. It turned into quite the group and was such a fun night! So much so, I only took a pic before I left the house. But I was on fire with outfit pics this week! 😉 I made this salsa and the quinoa salad we eat all the time.
OUTFIT SOURCES: Striped Tee | American Flag Sweater | Shorts – old (same brand and similar style here) | Jelly Sandals (these run large so I’d order down, which I next to never say about shoes)
We hit the beach early yesterday morning to avoid the crowds but it was already so hot we didnt’ last long.
I randomly added a cat “toy” to my Walmart cart last week. But instead of the cats playing with it, they’re treating it like it’s a baby. It’s so cute and funny to watch. One or the other is basically watching it at all times. Henley will clean it and carry it around with her too.
I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much, but I’m hoping it’s an exciting week on the building front! I’ll be sure to share on my Instagram once I see more progress!

Great post! What is your quinoa recipe? I looked on site but couldn’t find?
Thanks,

Thank you! And sorry about that – meant to link it. I usually call it the Jennifer Aniston salad. You can get the recipe here: https://www.eatingbirdfood.com/jennifer-aniston-salad/
I cannot tell you how much I want to be in that beautiful water right now! We’ve just discovered asbestos in our attic and I’m waiting for the removal quote $$$$$ so this week is depressing.
Ugh!!! I’m so sorry to hear that. That sounds awful. Hopefully remediation is quick (and not too costly). Hoping your week gets much better!
