Home Projects & Updates
I’m hoping to snap a few pics around the house with my “real” camera later this week to share a mini spring home tour.
But here’s what I’ve updated and taken pics of with my phone. I got a pretty new front door wreath for spring that I’m really loving! It fluffs up nicely and feels very substantial.
I also ordered this gorgeous driftwood floor lamp and it arrived the morning we left so I quickly put it together and stuck it in the corner of our entryway. I have two spots in mind for it, so now that we’re back, I need to play around with it and see where I like it best! Despite the airy look, this one is heavy which is nice knowing it can’t easily tip over!
This week, I really need to focus on getting my planters planted (I feel like I’m a month behind already). I didn’t want to leave and have to ask someone else to water them while we were away, so I’m a few weeks late in getting them started! Can you believe this is what they already looked like this time last year (only five days off)?! I was a bit shocked myself when I just looked back at the photos. I need to get it in gear!

The Peggy Martin roses are blooming all around our neighborhood and they always make me so happy each spring!
We spent much of the week two weeks ago prepping to our trip to Europe! In case you missed it, I shared what I packed right before we left!

We left for Amsterdam Wednesday, the 16th! Since it was an overnight trip, I kept my outfit comfy. It may actually have been the first time I haven’t worn jeans for a flight. These shoes (in the blue and the tan) were basically the only ones I wore the whole trip! They were so comfy for walking around (just be sure to wear them a few times to break in the back if you don’t wear socks).

I’ll plan to share all the details of our trip soon. I’m not exaggerating when I say I took over 1,200 photos and videos in the ten days we were gone! So the hardest part about summarizing the trip is keeping it concise 😉 We spent Easter morning at Keukenhof Gardens and it was one of the most absolutely stunning places I’ve ever been. I made a video here with a closer look at it all if you’re interested!
As exepected, the tulips were absolutely stunning this time of year. We so many tulip fields, both on our descent into Amsterdam and while out and about touring.
To the surprise of nobody, the Delft blue tiles everywhere also captured my heart! These particular ones were in the Zaanse Schans village when we went to visit the windmills there.
The river cruise was wonderful, and we got to visit so many beautiful ports in Amsterdam, Germany, and France before ending in Basal, Switzerland (and utlimately flying out of Zurich). I’ll gather all of my thoughts, tips and recommendations once I have a chance to sort through all of them. But we had such a great time! The trip was for my mom’s 70th birthday (which was on Thanksgiving Day last year), but Kurtis also turned 48 our last day on the ship and my brother turns 42 tomorrow so we had a lot to celebrate! This hybrid cardigan/jacket was one of his favorite purchases this year.
We arrived home close to midnight on Saturday night. Now it’s back to getting into a routine (which we both thrive on). For the most part I was able to fight off jet lag yesterday despite being awake 26+ hours traveling and then only being able to sleep about four hours Saturday night. But, after a good night’s sleep last night, I’m hoping the sleep habits quickly return to normal too!
Yesterday we kept it pretty low-key. It seems like summer temps have now arrived to 30A, with the 10-day forecast in the low 80’s most days. We took a walk with our friends and enjoyed the warm temps and got caught up on life from the prior ten days. Texting is hard when you’re seven hours apart! The cats have a wonderful sitter that stayed with them most of the time we were away. But they’ve still been super clingy since we got home, so we’ve been sure to pile on the extra love!
One of my egret friends seemed to have delivered an entire flock of babies while we were gone. It was so fun watching their training sessions out my office window yesterday!
