Weekend Recap

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you all had a nice weekend! Here’s what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates

We made a lot of really great progress in our carriage house bedroom refresh project! There’s nothing like the arrivals of guests to get my gears in motion quickly!

The gallery wall has officially been hung. The template in these gallery wall kits made life much easier!

The new bedding all arrived from Quince and I am very impressed with the quality. I also love that the sheets and the duvet cover came with bags made of their same material, labeled with the bedding size. It made it easy for me to store the prior set and remember where it goes when we need a bedding back-up!

This is a pretty hefty sneak peek of our progress so far. I’m still waiting on some of the art, so the pennants are just taped up temporarily until I have a chance to lay everything out properly to see the best flow. The bedding looks so good with the wall color and it all feels so much cozier in here now! Hoping to share the full reveal by the end of the week if the art arrives before our next round of guests!

Out in the living room, I swapped out the throw pillow covers for these cute ones I had already and then added my favorite real-touch hydrangeas to the coffee table.

In the kitchen, I clipped a few palms from the yard to add a little color and life!

I’ll circle back on the bedroom status as soon as I can!

Around Town & For Fun

As mentioned above, we spent most of our free time over the week working on the carriage house bedroom. I also got out for a few solo bike rides! The weather in the early part of the week was so beautiful!

Thursday night, Kurtis and I went into Alys Beach for dinner at O-Ku. It opened several months ago, but we hadn’t made it down yet. It was one of the best meals we’ve had on 30A! They offer sushi, entrees, and so much more. The sea bass was out of this world and all of the sushi and appetizers we tried were excellent. Highly recommended!

The drive home from Alys Beach is always such a pretty one! We then killed a few hours before we had to pick up our niece Kate and her friend at the airport!

We had a fun lunch at Gallion’s in Rosemary Beach. I love that our grass is finally starting to green up and some of the trees that lose their leaves in the winter are starting to green back up, as well!

We then headed over to Inlet Beach (Phillips access point again) so the girls could see the water. Unfortunately, since they’ve arrived, it has been very rough, and closed other than one day.

After my beach walk with Rachel a few weeks ago, I ordered this seashell scooper kit and finally got a chance to use it. Note to self: don’t be so focused on shells, you miss the incoming waves 😉 I’m wearing this sweater.

The scooper worked out really well despite the crazy waves we had. Friday was the only day Kate and her friend have been able to get in the water unfortunately. They closed the water all weekend because of the rip currents. We’re hoping it opens back up today or tomorrow before they leave!

The cats can tell spring is in the air too! Henley spends hours out on our back patio. Hawkeye seems to only want to go out front so we have to supervise him. I found him halfway through the railing over the weekend just frozen like this, letting the sun hit his face. It was the cutest!

I’ve been really bad about taking pics while our guests are here. But we did hit the beach club, Camp Creek, Amigos, Ambrosia, our hot tub, dinner on the back porch, and more! Tonight we’re headed to Old Florida Fish House at Kate’s request once Kurtis and I wrap up work. They’re planning to do some shopping in Rosemary and the other little towns during the day.

Kate and her friend are here until Wednesday. Then Kate’s parents (Kurtis’ sister and her husband) fly into town on Saturday night! I’m hoping all the art is here for the carriage house bedroom before then so I can get it hung, photographed, and shared with you yet this week!

We also realized yesterday that we’re a month out from my mom’s 70th birthday trip. We started planning it a year and a half ago, so it’s pretty wild that by this time next month, we’ll be in Europe! We’re really looking forward to it.
