Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here’s what we’ve been up to the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
I spent much of the weekend planning and executing many of my carriage house bedroom refresh plans. I also made a little video about it here if you’re interested in watching it. I’ve amassed quite the collection of these paint samples over the years, and they’re always so handy!
CARRIAGE HOUSE BEDROOM SOURCES: Rattan Bed (similar here) | Nightstands | Herringbone Rug | Beach Art | Lamps | Cableknit Pillow Covers | Waffle Knit Duvet Cover | Lightweight Duvet | Sheet Set
Sunday when I was ready to start painting, we had to move out as much as we could (including the mattress and box springs. The room is fairly little so my ladder wouldn’t fit around the edges if most of it stayed. It always has to get worse before it gets better 😉
CARRIAGE HOUSE SOURCES: Indoor/Outdoor Sofa | Leather Chairs | Coffee Table | Block Print Rug | Bamboo Side Tables | Rattan Lamps | Palm Art | Wood Links | Striped Throw Pillow Cover | Palm Throw Pillow Cover | Rope Coasters | Scalloped Tray | Dining Table | Dining Chairs
It was rainy and stormy out most of the weekend, so painting seemed like a good indoor activity. This is the view from the carriage house entrance.
I ultimately decided to go with Farrow & Ball Borrowed Light (color matched with Benjamin Moore paint). Unfortunately it was so dark outside it was really hard to tell if I was liking the color or not. At first it seemed very baby blue to me, but as it dried I really started to like it (especially as more of the room was painted).
Is a gallon of Benjamin Moore Aura paint really $89 now?!?! I was in shock. But maybe that’s the Ace Hardware/30A marked up price? Wow. Thankfully I was able to get the whole room painted with only one gallon (down to the last drop).
Once I allow the walls to dry a bit more, we’ll get the furniture back in place (hopefully tonight) and then I’ll work on the gallery wall (maybe tomorrow)? Unfortunately I don’t think all of my art will arrive before our first round of guests do, so the reveal likely won’t be until late next week. But maybe I’ll be surprised!
When I was up in the carriage house, I realized I never shared where I placed this Facebook Marketplace find from last fall! It fits perfectly in the carriage house entryway, and we thought it would be a great spot for guests to set their keys, purses, etc. I plan to style it up a bit and add a trinket dish or two. We may also leave a few beach/pool towels in the lower section since currently we have all of them stored in our house.
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Kurtis was supposed to spend much of the week in Omaha, but unfortunately had to stay home due to a bad cold or something he picked up in the Bahamas. Thankfully I was able to stay healthy and not catch it from him!
I had already planned a girls night in thinking he’d be away. He spent the night upstairs and Henley spent the night hanging out with my friends. It’s always so great to catch up with these wonderful ladies and we always have so many laughs.
We did a better job of not going completely overboard with the food like we usually do.
Pretty skies on a really hazy night!
Pollen season has returned. It was pretty mangeable early on, and then we had a big windstorm and now our entire front and back porches, and really everything, is covered in yellow. I see some pressure-washing in Kurtis’ future 😉
Saturday night, one of our neighbors had a fun get together at their new house. I wore this top (runs big and long – I’m in a Large) and this necklace trio I ordered a few months back but just received last week. I love it! It was such an enjoyable evening and fun to meet some new neighbors!
Our niece Kate is coming back to town later this week with a friend to spend their spring break here. They’re in vet school at Iowa State, and this will technically be their last spring break since they’ll be doing rotations during their senior year next year. A few days after they leave, her parents arrive from Iowa to spend a week with us too, so the carriage house updates will be here just in time! Or mostly – Kate and her friend may miss a few of the updates if my art doesn’t arrive in time. It should be a fun few weeks!
