Good morning! I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend, hopefully a long weekend for some of you. We’re both back to work today and have a busy week ahead since we’ll be out of town next week. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so!

Home Projects & Updates
As I mentioned last week, we haven’t been able to dry a load of laundry in under 4-6 hours the past few months and we finally got that resolved. See that little square in the wall behind the flowers (I desperately tried to always hide it because I hated it).

It’s intention is to be a back-up lint trap before the pipe runs up and out of the house. During our one-year walk through, we mentioned how the door always blew off and we’d have lint everywhere in our laundry room. So, the builder came back and inset it into the wall (but it was still removable to clean). Great! But ever since then, it is literally taking 4-6 hours to dry a load of clothes. We let it continue way longer than we should have. It was also causing a bunch of moisture to build up and the drywall was starting to bow/warp in this area.
I reached out to the builder and they were quick to make the change. It sounds like they also stopped adding this feature in our homes shortly after ours was built. In order to make the change, they had to cut out a rather large chunk of drywall and an HVAC company came to replace the venting tube. After that was complete, the builder sent his crew over to repair the drywall, which was a two day process to mud/dry/sand/paint. But we’re so happy it’s done!
Thankfully it looks good as new – but even better because that screen door isn’t there! And more importantly – we’re back to normal drying times!!
My office is still a disaster (when isn’t it?!?). It was dark and dreary outside the other morning so I went to light this candle (still an all-time favorite) and appreciated the semi-organized look of this tiny little corner. Granted, the bracelets aren’t supposed to be there, but somehow it all just works. I’ve really got to get this office in shape!

I’m still in my sourdough bread era! I make one loaf a week for us and we either enjoy a slice with our breakfast or sometimes at lunch or dinner if we make grilled cheese to go with our soups. It’s a fun little hobby for me!

Last night, I remembered my additional curtain rings had arrived to wrap up the drapes (beige white) in our bedroom! It was dark out when we finished so I’ll get an updated photo today so I can share the full look for you later this week. We’re really happy with them!

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared on the blog over the past week, in case you missed some days!
- Weekend Recap
- My Favorite Rugs Over the Years
- Wednesday Watch List
- Amazon Spring Finds: Part II
- The Best Presidents’ Day Weekend Sales
I’ve also been making a focused effort to post more frequently on Instagram this year. Specifically, more videos. So I thought I’d share links to some of those posts here on a regular basis if there are ones that didn’t have a coordinating blog post to go with them! Sometimes seeing the video of a product can be more helpful than the still life photos. Here are a few from this week you may enjoy seeing:
- My Favorite Coastal Rugs Over the Years
- A Mirror so Nice We Bought it Thrice – a look at this mirror that’s currently on sale (and now comes in a pretty cornflower blue color) and everywhere we’ve used it over the years!
Around Town & For Fun
Our friend Rachel celebrated another birthday on Tuesday! She had a lot of activities going on throughout the week so requested a quiet dinner at our house on her actual birthday. She cooked the steaks (hers are the best) and we had margaritas, the Jennifer Aniston salad, roasted sweet potatoes, and red wine mushrooms. She isn’t a sweets person so rather than a cake, we made fresh chimichurri sauce for her – her absolute favorite! We followed dinner with a few games of Farkle – bringing back memories of our catamaran trip. It was such a beautiful evening so we sat out on our back porch for dinner!

Chris was here. Ha!
Wednesday she and I went slab shopping for her new kitchen. I of course fell in love (or should say have been in long time love) with Calacatta Gold Marble. I could seriously look at stone all day! Rachel had to take a pic to show Kurtis I somehow managed to find the second most expensive slab there 😉
Hawkeye has been sitting at the front door again “asking” to go out on the front porch. They’re both so dang cute when they go out there, usually smelling around like crazy! Can you see Hawkeye’s little head popping through the railing in the first pic below? Ha! Side note: we’ve really been loving these glass bottles. They come in a set of six so we keep them stocked in the fridge at all times as an alternative to plastic water bottles. I might be the only influencer on the planet that doesn’t use a Stanley 😉 Last year we installed this easy-install undercounter water filter in our kitchen and laundry room (where our coffee pot is) so we just fill them with filtered water.
Friday night, Rachel and I were invited to the Taste of the Race charity event in Seaside. It was their race weekend and they had a party to kick it off. We had to stop for a pose in front of the post office, all decorated for the holiday.
The weather was beautiful and we all had so much fun tasting the food and drinks from the various vendors that participated. We did not leave hungry and it was a fun way to spend Valentine’s Day!
Up next, a little of Kurtis’ naturewalk finds over the past week. There’s a rather large gator near the entrance of our neighborhood now and you’ve gotta love all the herons.
BUT…the cutest of all was this little tiny baby turtle he saw across the street by our pond. I actually don’t know how he saw it, but I think the grass is so dormant and matted right now, he was able to see it. He moved it closer to the pond because it was about to cross the street. It wasn’t much bigger than his thumb! His little baby head and feet peeking out are so cute!
We had a pretty quiet weekend at home for the most part, which was a nice change! I love a good lazy weekend where I can also tackle things that have been on my to-do list without feeling rushed.
Saturday night, Kurtis and I celebrated a belated Valentine’s Day. And just as a couple that’s been married nearly 20 years should do, we ran into my favorite store Becasa and then restocked on olive oil at 30A Olive Oil. 😉 We followed that with dinner at Cuvee. We watched Back In Action on Netflix with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx and we both enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would! It’s an action that has some funny parts and a cute story, even if it’s a bit cheesy in parts. But we’d recommend it if you’re looking for something new!
We’re doing round two of Prolon this week, which works out perfectly with Kurtis’ company trip next week in the Bahamas. We’re headed to Baha Mar in Nassau which we’ve never been to before so we’re excited to see. We’ve only ever stayed at The Cove/Atlantis for prior trips. If you’ve ever been to Baha Mar and have any tips or recommendations, we’d love to hear!
