Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful past few weeks celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
As of Saturday, our holiday decor is 100% packed away! And it feels so great! We have a small storage unit for our Christmas decor, and Kurtis had already taken a small load the prior weekend. But here’s what was left and still needed to go.
If you’re still looking for storage pieces for your holiday decor, these wreath bags were my favorite find this year. I was able to fit four wreaths in the center and then 6-8 garlands around the edges in just one bag! Kurtis thought they’d be way too heavy to lift (I’m the queen of overfilling things) but they were a breeze, and the handles make them super mobile.
Once the decor came down, things started to look really empty around here, as they tend to do after the holidays. I got all of the Christmas bedding washed and then pulled a few random items from our linen shelves and gave our bedroom a little refresh. In the past, I’ve left things pretty bare until I figure out a whole plan for spring decor. But this year I’m determined to stop overthinking everything and just do it. Long story short, here is how our bedroom now looks until I figure out a plan for spring. Much better than all white bedding for months! I also made a quick video here if you want to see more.

These faux peonies are a great option if you’re not ready to pull out all your bright green, leafy stems! They look very realistic and come in multiple colors (I have the White option, not Pure White, which is more of a warm white). Also, I swear this vase is still the best value out there! I have gotten so much use out of it!
In our entryway, it felt especially bare once the garland came down. It was super dark and dreary yesterday too, so I added some faux gingko stems to add a bit of color back in. Nothing is permanent here, but it feels better to breathe a little life back into the space!

We also finally hung our shower curtain (Water Blue edge, but it looks darker in this pic) I’d purchased a year or so ago in our guest bathroom. I love that it came in multiple colors and lengths. We have 10′ ceilings upstairs, so standard lengths just look odd. In my mind we were going to have to hang the rod on the wallpaper, which made me a little nervous. But, it turns out our tile extends far enough we were able to hang it there thankfully! This is a terrible picture (thanks to the dark skies) and the curtain flipped in an area without me realizing it, but what can you do. At least it’s all ready to go for our house/cat sitter that will be staying here later this week!

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past few weeks, in case you missed some days over the holidays!
Around Town & For Fun
Overall this was just a really great holiday season for us. We got to see both sides of our families early on, and then it was so nice to be home for the past two weeks. We had the perfect mix of work and fun, celebrating and relaxing.
I’ve mentioned this before, but Kurtis and I are big believers in goal setting and writing down our intentions for the year. We do a joint “meeting” together each year to set both personal goals and goals for our four businesses. The main takeaway from our business goals this year – no new properties or ventures! Ha! But seriously. We need a break from that and have a lot of other goals to focus on. It’s always great to have clarity on our intentions for the year, starting with a blank slate!
This year, like we have the past two, we did our meeting on the beach. We headed down New Year’s Eve day, along with apparently everyone else that was visiting 30A 😉 The weather was absolutely gorgeous (mid-70’s), despite the wind.
Kurtis was coming from an appointment, so I had some time to walk the shore and look for shells. Definitely one of my new favorite hobbies coming out of 2024!
I hit 400 straight days of Duolingo over the weekend! One of my 2024 goals was to practice Spanish a minimum of 300 days in 2024. I was so proud of myself for making it all 365. I’m not sure I’ve consistently ever stuck with anything that long! Realistically I know this perfect streak will come to an end at some point this year, especially during travel periods, so I’m shooting for 355 days of practice this year to give myself a little grace! But it’s a great app if you’re looking to learn a new language (or get a refresher on one) in the new year!
For New Year’s Eve, our friends Rachel and Chris hosted again – mostly because nobody else wanted to and I think we would have all stayed home otherwise. Ha! But it was such a fun night!
So glad we were able to get this crew addicted to Farkle. It’s such a fun game for any age!
Chris also had a bunch more minute to win it games, similar to Christmas. But this was a whole new set. And how great that we could play outside on New Years Eve!? It was all so much fun. And the best part? We had our ball drop around 9:30 pm. We’re all early risers with early bedtimes, so it was perfect!
I ordered these disco ball cups and they were a huge hit with both the kids and adults! The lids screw on and off so it’s nice they were fairly spill proof, and they looked so festive!
New Year’s Day, Rachel and I went to lunch to discuss our 2025 goals. We’re going to be accountability partners so we chatted through our plans and just life in general. Over an espresso martini of course. It might be the first time we’ve drank anything other than margaritas together! Fonville Press is such a great local breakfast or lunch spot if you ever visit. They also have an adjoining little market too for food supplies. The exterior pic is an older one because I forgot to take one on our visit!
We ran to Hola Beaches afterwards so I could grab some video and do a quick site inspection. One of my godmothers is renting the house for a few weeks to escape the cold in Minnesota. We popped down on Thursday morning to welcome them and get caught up. So sad I forgot to take a picture, but I’ll grab one when I see them next.
Friday we started the Prolon 5-Day Nutrition Program (which is a fast-mimicking program, but with limited food they provide) so we spent most of the rest of the weekend at home. It’s such a great reset (we have today and tomorrow left) and very doable! I miss my Diet Coke the most, so that should be pretty telling what’s the most addictive part of my day 😉
Kurtis and I rented Wicked on Prime and we both loved it! Admittedly, it took us two nights to finish it (mostly because there’s zero chance I’m sitting through a nearly three hour movie). We’ve seen the Broadway version and also saw it in London about ten years ago, and we loved this version every bit as much!
With the colder temps and little humidity, the stars have been incredible lately! I took this image from our backyard after a group text from our friend Chris to run outside. It’s hard to hold still that long on night mode, but you can get a pretty good idea of just how clear it was. So beautiful! One of the joys of very little light pollution in our area.
With the colder temps, these two have been begging to go in our guest bedroom (which we usually keep closed). They love this blanket so much, I didn’t have the heart to put it away with the rest of the Christmas items. You know they’re cold when Henley allows her brother this close to her 😉
Kurtis ended the weekend watching the Chiefs play from the hot tub. It’s quite the setup, and rather enjoyable this time of year!
We are headed to the Bahamas later this week for the catamaran trip with our friends Chris and Rachel and their boys! We are really looking forward to it (despite the plunging temps hitting that area as well). We’ll be packing a lot of sweats in addition to swimsuits, but I know we’ll still have so much fun! We should have internet access most of the week, so I’m planning to share our trip along the way if you want to check it out on my Instagram. I’ll also plan to do a more thorough blog post once we’re back.
Enjoy your first full week of 2025!
