Weekend Recap

Good morning! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and week of holiday celebrations. I know many are likely still in holiday mode, but here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to this past week!

Around Town & For Fun

It was an action-packed week with a lot of fun, festive activities!

We started the week with dinner at Amigos because we hadn’t been for a bit. It was a good time for us to plan out the coming two weeks to ensure we could fit in everything we wanted. I’m always sad when they take down these giant nutcrackers after the holidays.

We went to Christmas Eve church at The Chapel at Seaside. We took a quick selfie by some red berry trees as we were walking from parking several streets away. I wore this top in size XL (it doesn’t have any stretch).

We knew it would likely be really busy, since it’s a popular tourist spot. Despite getting there 40 minutes early, we weren’t able to sit in the chapel, but I took a quick peek inside. So beautiful!

They had several outdoor areas where you could sit, including some under a tent with heaters, but we chose this spot on the side of the chapel. It was filled with benches and blankets, and they were serving hot chocolate. The service was then projected on several televisions. Thankfully the weather was gorgeous and it didn’t get chilly until the last few minutes when the sun set. It was a beautiful service and we’re so glad we went!

That evening, we had made reservations at ANR, a restaurant in part of our beach club at Camp Creek. The night prior at Amigos, we also randomly decided to book a room there after since dinner wasn’t until 7. So late, I know 😉 But they were running half off specials for members that particular night so we went with it. We don’t buy gifts for each other and prefer experiences. It was a lot of fun!

Here was the view from our room, overlooking the golf course. So beautiful!

When we left Christmas morning, we saw some “reindeer” in the parking lot.

We came home to a delivery of fresh cinnamon rolls from our friend Ashley. They were so delicious, and I’m not even a breakfast pastry person.

Christmas afternoon, our friends Chris and Rachel hosted Christmas dinner. Afterwards, we played some minute-to-win-it type games and had so much fun! My partner Nick and I came in second place, so it felt like a victory 😉 We also got a few of them hooked on Farkle, which we first played with my family in Utah over Thanksgiving!

Friday night, my friend Katie hosted a bonfire and pizza party on Inlet Beach. I’m mad I didn’t take more pictures because it was a lot of fun and so beautiful. It was in the low 60’s and you would think all us locals were in the arctic the way we dressed! It was foggy and misty though with some wind, so that was our excuse to pull out the winter gear 😉

We definitely had some much-needed down time over the week, too. Which is always Henley’s favorite. If she’s not roasting in front of the fire, she’s crashed in this tray.

We started yesterday morning with a 3:40ish am wakeup call with the tornado sirens going off on our phones. We had to sit in our closet for about 20 minutes until it passed, so that was fun 😉 Thankfully no damage to the area and we finally got some much-needed rain.

Kurtis and I plan to set our 2025 resolutions and intentions for the year tomorrow on the beach. We’ve done a joint goal-setting meeting this time each year for as long as I can remember. It’s even more exciting now that we can do it on the beach if weather permits! But one item we already discussed was being better about meal planning and meal prep. So, we got a head start and did a trial run Saturday. I made big batches of chicken noodle soup and tomato soup and he worked on washing and chopping fruits and veggies. We both enjoy healthy food – we just don’t always enjoy the prep work that goes into it. So we’re planning to prep Sundays (and maybe Wednesdays?) with food we can easily grab for lunches or dinners on days that are a little more hectic.

Kurtis hit his goal of logging over 3,000,000 steps in 2024! It averages to just over 8,000 a day, but you have to be very intentional about it (especially if you have a desk job) so most days he walked 3 miles or so in addition to his regular activity. He opted not to sign up for the polar plunge at our beach club on New Year’s day, so he did his own version last night in our pool after working out. The water was 62 degrees which he thought would be a breeze, but I knew he’d freeze. That’s still really cold!

We have fun plans for the first half of the week, and then we plan to start the Prolon 5-Day Nutrition Program on Thursday. It gives us just enough time to wrap the program up, before we prep to leave on our catamaran sailing trip in the Bahamas! I can’t believe that’s less than two weeks away!
