Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
It was a really productive weekend around here! I spent most of the time outside working on the yard and actually got a lot more done than I had expected to!
On Tuesday, our pots and citrus trees that we bought at Clay 30A were delivered. With Kurtis’ help, we got them all planted on Saturday. The plants at the base are a bit puny right now, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be massive in only a few short weeks. I just love the color this will add to our pool deck! The tree is a kumquat tree, which is a citrus that should do well here (and produces fruit November thru May). Around the base I added a mandevilla, sweet potato vine, and creeping Jenny. I can’t wait until they start spilling over!
Sunday morning we made an early morning Lowe’s trip for some more soil and plants. And it turns out two more massive planters. Kurtis loves to doubt my car packing abilities and likes to think there’s zero chance my purchases will fit. But, where there’s a will there’s a way 😉 Four planters, four topiaries, multiple shrubs, annuals, two bags of soil, and more… all fit!
I wasn’t actually planning to plant everything yesterday, but our weekend weather was so gorgeous and I cranked it all out! I may be struggling to walk today, but it feels great to have it all done. Not to mention, our backyard looks so much better!
The oleander topiaries were a total steal. I used to pay $100+ for these in Omaha, and found them at Lowe’s for $22. We bought four of them and they’re all about to explode with blooms! They’re one of my favorite plants ever! However, please do your research to see if these are the right plants for your yard. Like several common plants, they are toxic if ingested so if you have a child or pet that loves to eat everything, I would avoid these.

This next one has a climbing jasmine (I need to get a taller trellis) filled with petunias and mixed annuals along the base. I also temporarily planted my rosemary, cilantro, and basil but am hoping to move those to something larger soon.

We also hung this sconce in our laundry room/pantry! If you remember from my post on Battery Operated Wall Sconces, we wanted to add something here even though it was hardwired. I have a post coming soon with more details!
My latest Walmart order arrived, and it’s a good one! I’m hoping to have all of these fun items styled and photographed this week to share with you, but thought I’d share this sneak peek in the meantime!

Lastly, I heard back from our countertop company, and they are offering to replace our kitchen counters. If you missed the issues, I share more here. But essentially, they’ve had water spots in them since the day they were installed. They were hopeful they’d dry out, but unfortunately they haven’t – and arguably, they’ve gotten worse.
So, we’ll likely be heading to their slab yard later this week to see if any catch our eye! We’re not in a rush at this point to have them replaced (we’ve lived with them over 7 months at this point) so want to make sure we get something we love.
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Monday, my friend Rachel and I were invited to a new pop-up shop in Peddler’s Village. Rustler is a popular customizable hat store in Nashville, and they now have a spot here along 30A that focuses more on beach hats! She and I each customized a raffia hat, but they also had really cute trucker hat options as well. It’s a really fun way to get a unique souvenir from the area!
Our friends Sara and Anthony and their friend Jason were in town for the week for their kids’ spring break! We met them for breakfast Friday morning, and per usual, I think we laughed the whole time! We’re so glad they’re making this an annual tradition. We always have so much fun together! Also, based on the state of my hair, I can confirm the humidity rolled in for much of the week 😉
Friday night I had an impromptu dinner with two of my girlfriends. The weather was so beautiful we wanted to take advantage of a dinner outside. Such a pretty night with lots of great conversation and laughs!
While we spent so much time working outside over the weekend, Hawkeye thought he needed to join us. He pretty much thinks he owns the backyard now. Also, please note: these umbrellas are NOT baby blue like they claim to be. We will not be using them. Definitely more of a mid-tone blue that’s rather saturated.
Henley’s newest thing? Stare at the fireplace an inch away until somebody notices and turns the fire on for her. Ha! Little does she know, we’re edging out of fireplace season here!
Saturday night after a long day in the yard we decided to grab a quick dinner at Amigo’s. We ran into our friends and it was fun to hang out with them for an hour or so and catch up on the week! The sunset as we were leaving and then pulling into our neighborhood was so beautiful!
Target is hosting their Circle Week, and have some pretty great deals right now. Particularly worth pointing out, they have 30% off most sandals for the family, so that includes most of the sandals I packed for Anguilla. You can see all the Circle Week deals here.

We ended the weekend with a FaceTime call with our Omaha besties and goddaughters. We were treated to a reenactment of a school song/dance performance and were also offered a piece of bacon. Ha! It was great catching up and to “hang out” with all of them! Our oldest goddaughter turns six this week, which is so hard to believe!
This is our last full week we’re in town in April. Late next week we head to…. MONACO! We’ll be flying out a few days early for Kurtis’ company trip. His event is in Monaco but we’ve booked a room in Cannes for three nights prior. We haven’t been to the area since we were on a Mediterranean cruise for our 5th anniversary – nearly 14 years ago – so we’re excited to return! If you have any favorite spots, we’d love to hear!

You’ve been very patient about those counters, I think I’d have asked for a replacement sooner.
Is Tetris a girl thing? My partner will ask me to apply my Tetris skills to the car, fridge, freezer, luggage..😀 I can fit so much in my car even though it’s quite small compared to the SUVs and trucks you drive more in the US.
Sarah says
I think my patience had more to do with not wanting to deal with the issue while we had visitors here 😉 And yes – I think it may be! Even when I had a little Volkswagen sedan, we called it our urban SUV because we could fit so much insisde of it if I set my mind to it. Ha!

Beautiful weekend. Where was the photo taken (upstairs w ocean view)?
Sarah says
Thank you! That was at Watersound Beach Club.
Linda Grubbs says
Oh my! What a difference plants make. Yours are always so beautiful- love your new ones!!
And your new pots are great. It’s still a little cool here to start my pots…but I’m so anxious.
Did you have oleanders in NE? I didn’t think they did well here in Midwest. I d love to try one. ( side note… a few years ago I took your advice about Osmocote , so glad I did, I love that stuff!)
Sarah says
Thank you Linda! And yes – I used to have oleander in Omaha in our backyard pots when I could find it! Unfortunately it was only an annual there, but I’m hoping I can get it to survive our winters here in the pots. And I’m so happy to hear that about Osmocote! I love it too!
