Home Projects & Updates
Our countertop saga continues. I haven’t shared a lot about this, because I do think the countertop company is working to make it right. But basically, we’ve had water spots all over our quartzite countertops since before we moved in (from the mitering process). With that, they never sealed the counters. They were hoping to let them dry out, but after seven months, that clearly wasn’t happening. We had a meeting with them a few weeks ago, and they wanted to try a few tests.
So last week, they arrived with a heat lamp and let it sit for four hours.

After four hours, it literally did nothing, as you can see below. They’re supposed to reach out this week, but they’re at the point they may just pull them and let us pick something entirely different. And honestly, we’re at the point, we’re ready for that. So, I’ll keep you posted!
I took a bunch more photos to share in a home tour later this week! Here’s a sneak peek at how our loft came together. So much better than the photos you’ll see below where the space was still semi- being used as a storage space!

Around Town & For Fun
Kurtis was out of town for work most of the week, so I was able to get much more caught up on my work and fun things like taxes, etc. But, I also used a day later in the week to finally list some items for sale! As mentioned above, our loft had become the dumping ground and essentially a storage spot for home decor we hadn’t ended up using after the move. It was all items I loved, but came to realize we just didn’t have a spot for them. The good news is, with the exception of very few items, it has all been sold or donated and the space looks so much better now!
I’m also trying to sell all the hardware that was included in the price we paid for our cabinets throughout our house and carriage house. As in, a total of 92 pulls! So if you’re local and looking for hardware, I can give you all the details. I’ll sell them well below retail if they go to a good home 🙂
We rarely use our front door, so when I walked out front last week to help someone load their car with purchases, I couldn’t believe the volume of weeds in our yard. Eek! We have so many already, so my goal is to get some serious yard work going this week! At least we have pretty weeds here 🙂
With that, I swung into Maison 30A to look at planters again. I really need Kurtis to go with me since I expect these won’t ever be moved once they’re delivered. But they have so many gorgeous options to choose from! I’m ready to get some gorgeous and colorful plants around our yard!
Thursday night, I had a girl’s night and business dinner with Rachel. We had dinner at Amigos and it was such a beautiful night! We sat at the outside bar counter and there is nothing better than dinner al fresco in my mind! I wore the outfit below. The top was a splurge for our trip, but I can already tell I’ll get a ton of use out of it here! Definitely a high/low mix with my Walmart jeans added in 🙂

The two littles were pretty clingy all week after our week away for vacation. Henley also made friends with the box that held all the cabinet hardware. She was much too large for it but didn’t seem to care that she had blown out the sides 😉 And Hawkeye just being Hawkeye!
I hit a fun personal milestone this morning! 100 straight days of practicing Spanish in the Duolingo app! One of my New Year’s resolutions was to get started back learning. I ended up starting in December to get a head start and am so excited about my progress so far! Kurtis ended up joining me about 35 days in, and it’s been fun to “compete” with one another. We’re loving the Duolingo app if you’re looking to try a new language (I started Italian last year)!
Our niece arrived from Iowa last night and we’re looking forward to spending most of the week with her! I also have a fun sourdough bread class/night at a friend’s tomorrow that I’m looking forward to. I’ve been wanting to jump on the sourdough bandwagon for some time, so I’m excited to finally give it a try! This weekend, our beach club is hosting a free Thomas Rhett concert which we’re really looking forward to, as well. Hoping for good weather and clear skies!
