It’s one of my favorite days of the year – summer home tour day! I know it’s a bit late into the summer for providing much inspiration for summer decorating for you guys. But, with this being our last summer in our home before our big move, I wanted to photograph how everything looks today during my favorite season! I’m listing all sources along the way, and if you have a question on paint color, be sure to check out my Life On Virginia Street paint colors page for every color we’ve used in our home!

For the most part, I kept a lot of elements from our spring home tour throughout our house. With packing and the move planned, I didn’t want to add any more additional items than was necessary. But, I did swap out the older rug for this indoor/outdoor striped rug and add some faux palm branches. The palms are gigantic but I really love them and all the summer vibes they bring to the space! It definitely feels like summer in here!
Here’s the view I have of the entryway when I’m sitting at my desk in the office!
ENTRYWAY SOURCES: Faux Palm Branches | Tall Dipped Vase | White Raffia Chest | Mirror | Woven Tray | Indoor/Outdoor Striped Rug | Lantern Light Fixture | ‘It Is Well’ Art
Walking down the entryway hallway, I’ve been absolutely loving this water art from Lindsay Letters! It’s my new favorite and I can’t wait to bring it to Florida with us. I can envision it working well in so many rooms! Mine is the largest size in the white gallery frame.
ENTRYWAY HALLWAY SOURCES: Water Art | Swing Arm Sconces | Raffia Console Table | Similar Round Mirror | Dipped Vase | Faux Fan Palms | Glass Lamp | Striped Ottoman Stools | Set of Rope Balls
Per usual, I kept our kitchen decor super simple. But I finally swapped out our old runner for this striped jute rug and couldn’t believe how well it coordinates with the island cabinet color (Benjamin Moore Providence Blue)!
The faux palms can seriously work in any room. If they go on sale again, I’m definitely snagging a few more! These are the same three, just jumping into a new room for the picture because I love them so much!
KITCHEN SOURCES: Striped Runner Rug | Basket Pendant Lights | Bistro Counter Stools | Faux Palm Branches | Vase
Moving in to the living room, I actually kept everything from spring and then added even more pillows. But after I sewed these patterned pillows (same fabric on Etsy here), I couldn’t decided if I liked the striped pillows or the linen pillows better with them. So I kept both – which Kurtis especially loves 😉 I’ve wanted this fabric for years and years and finally decided to buy it direct and then make my own pillows to save on costs. Still definitely an investment, but I’m so happy I finally decided to order it. I absolutely love the color combo on the fabric!
This might be the first time our new console table has made an appearance in photos! You may remember we ordered it back in January before we knew we were moving and it’s so perfect for this spot! They also make a shorter version if you don’t need one quite this long, but we really love the update from the massive black cabinet that used to be behind the sofa!
Here you can see a bit how the living room overlooks the pool house space.
LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Sofas (read my review here) |Leather Chairs | Coffee Table | Similar Wooden Links | Large Footed Bowl | Similar Moss Balls | White Tray | “The Color Teil” | Marble Initial Coasters | Gallery Frames(look for less here) | Console Table | Faux Palm Branches | Vase | Faux Olive Tree (7′) | Terra Cotta Pot | Linen Pillows | Striped Pillows | Patterned Pillow | Faux Topiary Balls | Frame TV
I kept our dining room fairly simple also, with a simple swap of greenery! I used these faux fan palms that are the best alternative to my old Pottery Barn ones that I’ve found. They’re a little bit smaller and a bit darker green, but they actually work better for most vase sizes.
I’ll likely be selling our dining chairs and hutch before we move (possibly in August or September) so if you’re local and interested, shoot me an email with your contact info and I can reach out once we decide to list them!

Moving out to the pool house, it was also a matter of swapping out a bit more greenery and bringing in some seasonal throw pillows. I love that the outdoors add so much color to the space in the summer months, too!
We’ve found ourselves spending so much time out here in the summer months! We rarely even use our main living room any longer!
Essentially everything in the pool house is made to handle wet bathing suits and spilled drinks and food. It’s definitely more of an investment to go this route, but I’m guessing they’ll last us for many years to come despite the wear and tear they’re exposed to!
POOL HOUSE LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Sofa | Swivel Chairs | Ceiling Fan | Tripod Floor Lamp | Rug | Bamboo Side Table | Bamboo Coffee Table | Striped Pillow Covers | Palm Pillow Covers | Woven Lumbar Pillow Covers | Woven Stools | Faux Greenery Stems | Vase | LVP Floors
The dining room side is also super simple, with the star being the view out the window! This area gets blasted with sunlight most of the day (which I love!), so it makes it a bit challenging to photograph!
They’re hard to see in the photo above with the chairs tucked in, but I used these shibori style pillows on each of the head chairs!

Moving into the kitchen, we just love the view out these two sets of windows so much! Especially when the gas strut window is fully open to reveal the indoor/outdoor bar!
Below are the old Pottery Barn fan palms I’ve had for years. PB really needs to bring them back because I get asked about them all the time, and they really are the best ones I’ve found. I love how large they are! Below I also have the gas strut window open so you can see how it looks from this angle opened!
POOL HOUSE KITCHEN SOURCES: Basket Pendant Lights | Aged Brass Star Sconces | Striped Runner Rug | Backless Counter Stools | Cabinet Ball Knobs | Drawer Bin Pulls | Faucet | Counter Depth Fridge | Beverage Fridges | LVP Floors | Blue Serving Board | Similar Faux Fan Palms | Blue Vase | Cabinet Colors: BM Simply White (perimeter) & BM Santorini Blue (island) | Countertops: White Macaubas Quartzite
Everything upstairs is the exact same as it was in the spring home tour so that concludes our 2022 Summer Home Tour! I hope you enjoyed it! We’re sure going to miss this home we’ve created when we move to Florida!

I just love what you have done with this house over the years! Everything is so pretty in your summer tour. The pool house is my favorite feature. I am sure it’s bittersweet to leave this home, and yet exciting to be starting with a blank slate. I am looking forward to seeing what you do in the new house!

Looks beautiful! Can I ask what the length of the wall is in the kitchen that has for ovens and fridge? We are getting ready to remodel and would like a similar layout. Thanks in advance!

I love your design style. We moved to S.C. 2 years ago and redid the entire inside of our home. My taste reflects yours a lot. I painted all my kitchen cabinets simply white (my favorite white) and the island is night train. I always use Benjamin Moore paint. I also have a pillow room. I swear I must stop but I can’t. I love my pillow covers. Primary bedroom is Blue Heather, my office is Imperial Gray. I’m now trying to incorporate more of a coastal vibe and I love it. I’ll stop with all the room colors here. I’m also changing to more jute area rugs. We have hardwood floors through out. My question for you is; how are you keeping them clean and not getting them wet if they can’t be shampooed?
Good luck going forward in your new home. Can’t wait to see what you will do. You are definitely inspirational.
