Happy New Year! Last year about this time, I shared my 2014 Home Goals. I thought it would be fun to see just how many items I checked off the list and then share my home goals for 2015. If you’re looking for a full list of all the home projects I completed in 2014 {regardless if it was a “goal” or not}, be sure to also check out this post.
In 2014, my main update categories could be summarized as kitchen, bathrooms, doors/trim, and mudroom. Now here is the progress I made with each of the categories:
- Kitchen – Early in the year, I thought
- Bathrooms – I feel as though I made some good progress in this area over the past year, although much of the changes were just cosmetic with paint/lighting/mirrors. We’d still like to tackle a tile project soon, but that is something we have to fully commit to starting and finishing in a shorter window than some of the other projects we’ve worked on. The king guest bathroom {shown in the middle photo below} has really only be organized and very lightly styled, but would be the perfect place to tackle that tile project.
- Doors/Trim – I was able to paint trim in a few of the rooms I completed this year {laundry room, craft room, etc.}, but the doors and door trim throughout our home still need to be completed. We now have a paint sprayer though, so once the weather warms up in the springtime, this is something I definitely plan to tackle!
- Mudroom – We have made some really good progress in the mudroom this year. Unfortunately, the weather turned cold earlier than expected, so the project quickly came to a halt once I was no longer able to paint the cabinet doors outside with the sprayer. Another project I should be able to quickly wrap up come spring time.
In 2015, I would like to wrap up all the projects above as well as work on a few additional areas.

- General Goals – In November, I shared some info about my day-to-day life and some additional responsibilities I’ve taken on at work {which also equates to one less day a week for me to work on projects}. With that, I am trying to find a balance between my day job and my blog, which has quickly become a second job {a job which I thoroughly enjoy}. If I had my choice, I’d focus all my efforts on my blog, but obviously, for monetary reasons, the blog has to remain a hobby and doesn’t always take the priority level I would like for it to. Although my blogging may become slightly less frequent in the new year, I plan to blog in real time as I complete projects. Translated: at an attainable and realistic speed. I don’t ever want this blog to become a chore, where I feel I need to post just to post, so hopefully that continues to come through in the content. I would anticipate this would mean a project update after each weekend, the Wednesday Watch List and then here and there another blog post thrown in each week. I’ll make adjustments as needed, but this will help to maintain my sanity and also help me to enjoy the actual changes that are occurring in our home, versus always looking on to the next project I need to complete.
- Dining Room – I shared some dining room plan ideas in the summer, but never moved forward because I couldn’t decide on a look I loved. I’m at the point that I’m finally ready to move forward, and the great part is that most of the changes can be accomplished in the winter months since it shouldn’t require outside painting. I’ll be sharing the full plans {as they currently stand} later this week!

- Staircase – It’s time to finally add some personality to the staircase walls between our main and upper levels. The image below is the one that is currently fueling my inspiration dreams.

- Kitchen – see above recap from 2014.
- Living Room – It’s time to finally finish this space. I love it how it currently stands, but we have a few minor updates to finish. Find art, remove the ceiling fan and possibly replace the window coverings. I also may or may not try to paint or refinish the coffee table to brighten the space up further.

- Outdoor Spaces – 2015 is going to be the year of adding trees. We need to get some trees started around the perimeters so that once we finally get to our overall dream yard, we have some added privacy and pretty trees to look at in lieu of surrounding houses. We tried to start this portion in the fall but the local nurseries actually sold out of the main tree we wanted {Vanderwolf Pines} so hopefully this means they work well in Nebraska. I am all about privacy and want our backyard to mimic the feel of a resort – a haven where we can escape the “real” world.

I’m sure we’ll have a handful of other unplanned projects in the mix, but I would be ecstatic to get these completed this year. Thank you all again for reading along and I wish you the happiest of years in 2015!
