Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

I was out of town most of the week, so I didn’t get to stop by the new build until Thursday. At some point during the week, we’d received an email that we were very much over our tile budget. So, once I got back in town, I had to schedule a last minute appointment to make some quick swaps.

We had a few tiles in our initial picks that were in the $70-80 sq/ft range which is very much NOT in budget. Unfortunately, at all of our initial meetings, they don’t give any sort of indication on pricing. So, I headed back to make a few changes.

Of course I saw this gem that was actually MORE expensive than any of my other prior picks. It felt very “if Hermes were a tile” to me and I loved it. Needless to say, it didn’t make the redline cuts.

A few marble choices were putting us over the budget limit, so I quickly found a few more cost-effective marbles that would work within the parameters we needed. One of these made the cut in a slightly different colorway.

I also reached out to the cabinet company, the appliance company and lighting contact to wrap up a few things there. Things seem to be moving very quickly in terms of decisions but not necessarily in terms of actual progress. There is so much sanding/filling/priming/prepping going on on the exterior. So while we know a lot is happening, the days seem to be moving a bit more slowly lately. Thankfully, the exterior is feeling much less yellow as they continue to complete more and more on the exterior checklist!

They fixed two exterior windows on the back of our house that make such a difference on the interior. One of which is in our bathroom. We have a similar window in the eaves of our guest bedroom on the other side of our house and these additions add so much great light and really do a great job of featuring the vaulted ceilings!

We spent a few hours Saturday at the new build cleaning up some of the scrub landscaping out back. Our lot continues about 10′ behind the silt fence they have built (which controls any runoff during the building process). Right now there are the most beautiful yellow wildflowers growing in the space. It was attracting so many butterflies and bees and made me so happy! It also smelled so strongly of dill so maybe wild dill is a thing this time of year? I’d love to know if any of you know what it might be! The pic below was taken through the silt fence slats on my phone.

Around Town & For Fun

I spent the first half of the week in Palm Springs, CA! Rachel and I flew out Sunday afternoon for the Amazon Creator’s Summit and were there thru Wednesday. I absolutely love the desert and the weather was so beautiful! I definitely didn’t need to pack the tights I wore with my dress and boots 😉 Here Rachel and I are with our other 30A friend, Josepha, who was also invited!

There were a handful of celebrities they brought in including Demi Lovato, Bethenny Frankel, Tyra Banks, Charlotte Tilbury and more. I made my friends wait in line for a picture with Demi Lovato. My sister-in-law and I surprised our nieces with tickets to her concert many years ago. So, despite the fact they’re in their mid-20’s now, I was excited to share it with them. They basically paired us in groups of 10 and then she would run into the frame, but we got the pic! And the girls were impressed!

They had a lot of photo opps as well as photographers walking around who would ask us to randomly do things. Like throwing packages in the air. Ha!

One night we had a Halloween party and it was so much fun! The costumes were so unique and the vibe was so beautiful around the pool!

They had food stations, dance stations, and entertainers set up all around.

Our favorite was the magician!

During the day, I literally kept looking at the pool thinking how nice it would be to have time to spend there! Such a beautiful setup! Instead, throughout the day, we had different presentations, classes and events we attended. They did a really nice job with the conference.

Rachel and I had a coordinating outfit moment (unintentionally) on the second day! I was in the Tuckernuck version because I already had it on hand but she was in the Amazon version, which is a great look for less!

The final evening was a formal event and I wore this dress.

Rachel and I headed home early Wednesday morning (but didn’t get home until later in the evening with the time change) and Kurtis headed to Omaha early that morning so we crossed paths.

Kurtis got home Friday afternoon and we made it to our friends dinner at Amigos Friday night. The moon was looking really cool! A few of us agreed that this is what we thought of as October moon on 30A.

We laid pretty low all weekend. We had plans to go to the beach, but with our guests over the coming weeks, and the fact we were both exhausted from travels, we decided to stay home. Honestly, it was the perfect decision.

Sunday morning we took a quick golf cart ride for some coffee and then had bocce league in the evening. But, we had rain most of the afternoon/evening, so we had a fun Farkle night with our friends! Louise said one of her daughters prayed for that because it’s her favorite game 😉 I wore this top, knowing we likely weren’t playing any sports and having more of a game night.

After bocce, we killed a few hours before we had to pick my brother and sister-in-law up from the airport after 11. He’s never been to 30A, and it’s been quite a while since she has, so we’re excited to show them around this week! The weather doesn’t look super promising, but I’m sure we’ll find some fun regardless!
