Good morning! I hope you all had a great week! Here’s bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
We never got over to the new house Monday before we left town on Tuesday. but yesterday we grabbed coffee and golf carted over to check out the progress from the week. There was a lot!
They finished installing all of our windows and the Tyvek wrap is all up! It was so crazy to drive down the street and see a white house, rather than an orange wood house! The windows really made it feel updated.

The new view from my office, including mismatched grids on the transom windows 😉 I’ll definitely miss the pond I have with my current view, but the trees are a good backup!

The staircase now includes the wrapped portion so it’s slightly easier to visualize how it will look once it’s all finished.

On both the carriage house deck and one in our upstairs hallway, they weatherproofed the base floors before they add the decking. The carriage house one is slightly sloped for water to run off of, whereas the one off our second story has a drain, as well.

They also framed out the fireplace in our living room and wrapped up a lot more HVAC!

Back at our house, this shell mirror I ordered a few weeks ago from one of my weekend sale posts for my office was delivered. We’ll hang it once we’re both back in town, but I love how it looks! Then I’ll finally style this area appropriately, as now it’s overcrowded and holding a few items I plan to use elsewhere. But I can already tell I love having a mirror in this spot so much! I store all my jewelry in this cabinet (along with swimsuits and samples for fabric/textiles/wallpaper, etc.) so it will be nice to have a mirror right here.

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Early Tuesday morning, we headed to the airport for our trip to Las Vegas. As we got closer to the airport, the sun started to rise and we both commented how it was like we could see literal sunbeams like you see in drawings! It was so pretty!

We arrived in Vegas Tuesday afternoon and stayed at the Encore. I used to travel to Vegas for work 1-3x a year (my last time being in 2020), but Kurtis hadn’t been in over 20 years! Admittedly, it wouldn’t be our first vacation destination choice but the Eagles drew us (me) in and we had a great time! Our room at the Encore faced the north side of the strip so there weren’t necessarily incredible views (mostly of the convention center and construction), but if we stood up to the glass, we could look east to the mountains and the golf course and see the sun rise each morning!

We were hungry once we got settled into our room, so we wandered the property and had a quick bite at Aft at the Wynn (which is where Encore is located). The image below was part video when I shared it on Instagram, but was so on-brand for this coastal loving girl!

That night, after receiving several recommendations, we went to The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. We started with dinner at a Mexican restaurant at Venetian in the Grand Canal area. We don’t typically love dealing with reservations so Vegas was a bit tricky for us when it came to meals! But Canonita was so delicious, had great service, and was the perfect casual spot before the show. It was also fun to watch the gondolas and gondoliers go by, singing the whole time.

We pretty much walked everywhere so we racked up a lot of steps this trip! While we were waiting to enter The Sphere, this was a fun look through a window at the feature outside promoting the show!

We honestly had no idea what to expect with the Wizard of Oz. They take the original film and clip it down to 75 minutes with a few modifications. But otherwise, it is fairly similar to the original film. But holy cow! The special effects were out of this world. I took the below pics with my iPhone but it’s nearly impossible to show just how crazy and lifelike the Sphere is. During the tornado scene, they had high-speed fans blowing, cloth leaves blowing around, smoke machines going, our seats rattled and the room got super cold. I literally screamed when the house crashed. And according to Kurtis, a few other times, as well. Ha! Not only that, they had sponge apples falling on our heads, soap (I think) falling to simulate snow, monkeys flying around by drones, pyrotechnics, you name it. It’s truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen before! Tickets are pricey for what is essentially a movie, but it really is so much more than that. I think it’s something I personally would consider once-and-done, but we both enjoyed it so much and are glad we ended up going! It’s truly an immersive experience.

We tried to sneak in an hour or two at the pool each day. The first day was a bit rainy and overcast but otherwise great pool weather the remainder of the week!

Our one and only reservation we were able to snag was to Carbone on Wednesday night. I’m still in full-blown summer mode over here (and Vegas was still pushing 100 degrees) so I went with linen and white cotton. Yes, it’s after Labor Day 😉 I got this crisp, boxy top on Labor Day sale and love it. It makes for a great popped collar and looks so cute with high-waisted pants! It runs large (I’m in a Large with plenty of room).

Carbone lived up to the hype! Kurtis loved it so much he said he’d be fine if we went back the next night! We loved every single thing we ordered (mostly went with what the waiter recommended).

Kurtis had one other food request and that was to get a Cuban sandwich at the food truck at Park MGM. Unbeknownst to us, we found it difficult to find true lunch spots on the Strip. We showed up eager and hungry for our sandwiches only to find it didn’t open until 4 pm. So sadly we had to pivot. Since it was at the opposite end of the Strip, we never made it back (we also weren’t really craving Cubans for dinner ever). 😉

We explored Eataly, but after having just had a big Italian meal at Carbone the night before, we were wanting something different than Italian.

It was probably two hours later after lots of wandering with no options, we ended up at Sadelle’s at Bellagio. We were so hungry at that point we took the first place we could find. This happened another day too! Long story short, Vegas seems to love breakfast/brunch but not so much lunch. Which makes sense given it’s more of a nightlife city, and we’re the opposite 😉
We were, however, able to get into SW Steakhouse that evening by walking in. We had to eat in the bar area, but it was worth it. The food was so delicious!
We also did a lot of shopping (or I should say window shopping). This is super random, but I really loved this wallpaper at the Lucky Brand store. It was chunkier than a typical grasscloth and had a much larger weave. It was so pretty!

By Friday, it was pretty clear the population in every hotel had more than doubled. With that, we couldn’t get in anywhere for dinner in a reasonable time. So, we ordered room service before the concert and it worked out great. Kurtis could watch the Chiefs game and I could work!
That night was the main event and reason we went to Vegas – the Eagles at the Sphere! We decided to attend well after tickets had gone on sale, so we had to buy them on the secondary market and probably paid way more than we should have. But it was worth every single penny. My very first time seeing the Eagles was in Vegas for their millenium concert in 1999 and I certainly hope my last time wasn’t this concert in Vegas. But if it were, I would still be incredibly happy. It was such a special and incredible show!!

Tired after a busy week and late night, but so so happy, and the perfect end to a birthday weekend!

We spent most of Saturday traveling (across four time zones which is never fun) but I received so many sweet birthday messages and videos and calls and texts. It was such a great 45th birthday! We arrived home close to midnight Saturday night and I had flowers waiting for me from our sweet cat sitter. Her gift could literally be the great job she does watching our cats (which gives me so much peace of mind) so this was a really sweet surprise.

I’m headed to Dallas today for the LTK Conference , so I spent yesterday catching up on sleep (and adjusting to the four time zones we went through Saturday), checking things out at the new house, giving the cats extra love, laundry, and re-packing. I have a few regrets about doing these two trips back-to-back, but I know it should be a great week in Dallas too! I’m reusing this dress, this dress, and this dress that I bought earlier this year for other events so I’m glad to get more wears out of them! Kurtis actually has to go to Omaha on Tuesday, so I won’t see him again until the weekend. But then thankfully it will be quiet for a bit around here!

Happy belated birthday! Which section did you sit in for the Eagles concert? Were there any obstacles?
Thank you! We sat in the front row of Section 307 and didn’t have any obstacles. There were speakers in front of us, but as longer as you’re not super short, I don’t think it would be an issue. My parents and brother and sister-in-law had been and they had recommended closer to the front of 205-207 or 305-307 were ideal for a concert. With Wizard of Oz I had read 305-307 or 405-407 have better visuals. We had seen the Eagles front row in the past so we wanted more of the Sphere experience rather than up close with them. We felt like it was excellent in 307 and acoustics were amazing! I hope that helps!
I have to go to Vegas for work several times a year but it is definitely not my thing. But I make the most of it because it has great restaurants! The house looks fabulous! Great progress and can’t wait for the fun decorating to start!
Yes! I think we both realized we could make a trip out of it more often just for the restaurants alone!
