Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! Here’s what we’ve been up to for the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
On Monday, I had a new rug delivered for my office. I had been needing to replace it for quite some time but I was dreading the process. Since the rug is 11’x14′, we had to empty my office nearly entirely, which is not a fun feat! It was weird to see it so empty after it having been so full of crap the last few months. Ha! But, I’m so in love with the new rug and can’t wait to share it soon! Here’s the old rug for those interested. It was beautiful, but had seen a few too many hairballs (and sickness near the end of Bailey’s life). I’m loving the more neutral vibe of the one I picked!
I know many of you have been waiting for my home tour pics (including my mom)! But, here’s how the week of photographing it went. I’d start, see a corner that bothered me, and then spend hours on side projects that literally have nothing to do with the home tour. The funny thing is, several of the projects were ones I had been procrastinating for months already. Case in point: rather than just straighten up our bar counter in our laundry/pantry, I spent an hour washing bottles that had been packed away for a year, and decanting some. Then I had to style it and fancify it. Then I didn’t photograph it for another day because the other side projects wore me out. But dang – it sure does look cute now, and I finally got some pics! 😉
CHRISTMAS BAR SOURCES: Plaid Tea Towels | Gold Cabinet Knobs | Silver Bar Tray | Wine Bottle Bow Collar | String of Fairy Lights | Wicker Wine Coaster: Old from Serena & Lily (full size here) | Plaid Decanter | Wood Ring Decanter | Similar Faux Cedar Stems | Seashell Bottle Opener: Old from Amanda Lindroth
You know that roll of rattan I’ve had for months and months and hadn’t tried yet in our kitchen? “Maybe I should do that now before I take pictures.” Ha! Well I loved how it turned out, but after getting it all cut, and then applying one with packing tape behind the glass to test it out, I realized I’d need to enlist Kurtis’ help to take the doors off if I wanted to properly install it. So, then I peeled the one panel out, and have it saved for another day. But it’s cut, and ready to go, and I love it so far! It will be a fun little makeover, and all four cabinet doors will cost less than $35 total!
CHRISTMAS KITCHEN SOURCES: Rattan Sheet | Faux Cedar Wreath | Blue Plaid Ribbon | Blue Satin Ribbon | Skinny Red Velvet Ribbon | Cabinet Knobs | Appliance Pull | Pot Filler
Then I’d continue decorating spaces that were basically done. I added this $17 Walmart wreath to the long mirror in our bedroom with some additional bows my mom had tied. It’s a great wreath for the price! It’s rather substantial and has a good mix of different greenery types.
CHRISTMAS BEDROOM SOURCES: Upholstered Bed (look-for-less option here) | Nightstands | Rug | Wreath | Striped Sheets | Stewart Plaid Duvet Cover & Euro Shams | Waffle Knit Blanket | Mixed Greens Wreath | Plaid Ribbon | Blue Satin Ribbon | Thin Red Velvet Ribbon | Coral Style Mirror
I’ve now taken 938 photos (literally) and am working through them all to post! Don’t worry, I’ll spare you from about 918 of them 😉
Long story short, I apologize for thinking I’d have the tour wrapped up sooner, but tomorrow is the official day and there’s no going back! Can’t wait to share it with you!
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
One of the ladies in our neighborhood hosted a gathering for a few of us mid-week and it was a lot of fun! Nearly everyone is a transplant to the area so I always really enjoy hearing about where everyone is from and their whole life story. Our street has several second-home owners, so we don’t always see each other that often, so the get-togethers are always a fun time. And my motto this time of year, add a velvet or satin bow to anything and it makes it festive. Haha! I used this ribbon.
This was definitely the week of magical sunsets, skies and stars! Friday night we had dinner at the beach club and even upon our arrival, I could tell the sunset was going to be amazing. Look at that warm glow through the entrance. Wow!
It was one of those evenings where the sunset kept getting more and more beautiful. But it is always so hard to capture in photos. It really never does it justice!
Afterwards, we went to the Acton Academy Children’s Business Market. This is the school that our friends started a 30A branch of and they rent the first floor of our commercial building. Each year, the kids all have to come up with a business plan and decide what they want to make/offer/sell for the event. They invite other entrepreneurial kids in the community, as well, and it’s always such a fun event. If a kid can give me a good pitch, they can take all my money. Ha! Needless to say, we came home with several bags of items including oyster shell ornaments, seashell necklaces, handmade body lotion, candles, and too many baked goods to count.
We saw lots of friends at the event including my favorite littlest guy, Hudson! He came right to me when I asked him if he wanted me to hold him – and then I realized he really just wanted my earrings 😉 We also saw Jane, who apparently bought most of what I donated to the boys. I had some new home decor with tags I hadn’t used and gave them. She was so excited to support her grandsons – and get my stuff!
I wore this sweater that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer. It comes in four colors and is 50% off right now! It runs true to size (I’m in the large).
I had to laugh at our little friend Alma’s booth. She was selling hot chocolate (but had run away to play when we came up). She does not like messes, so she wanted to make sure everyone knew not to spill it. I couldn’t stop laughing at her sign! We also bought some “sparkly” macarons from her cute sister.
The local wildlife is loving the fall temps! Kurtis sees a whole host of animals each day on his walks. He captured a great video of an alligator this week and then saw these beauties shortly after!
With the Children’s Business Market on Friday, we moved our standing Amigos date to Saturday. I loved the watercolor effect of the sky when we arrived! For the locals, Amigos just released a new menu with tons more food options. We were all so excited for the update!
Our friends recently bought an investment property on Lake Powell, and we ventured out to see it after dinner. My iPhone captured much more light than we actually had as we walked down to the dock. It basically felt like we were in the Blair Witch Project. Walking over an unkempt dock and lake in the pitch black (in high heels) was a bit scary!
But it was so beautiful and once our eyes adjusted it was so, so pretty and so peaceful! Again, the night mode on iPhone tends to overexpose so it definitely wasn’t this bright out, but the moon was so crazy bright and the stars were out and showing off!
We had been missing golf cart rides with the odd weather lately and more specifically with the sun setting so early now. So Kurtis and I made a point of taking a few rides over the weekend. It’s definitely sweatshirt weather now though when you’re in motion! I had to snap a pic of some of the “fall colors” we saw. It’s hard to see, but that maple on the left was just starting to turn and a few others were losing or had lost their leaves. It’s definitely a different experience down here than the Midwest or Utah!
Kurtis has a really quick trip to Omaha this week for work and then we fly out to Salt Lake next week for Thanksgiving and my mom’s 70th birthday! Once we’re back we then fly to Omaha/Iowa about a week later for an early Christmas celebration. I can’t believe how quickly the holidays are already upon us!

Your detour in your pantry cracked me up, I do this all the time. My son in law calls it the “did you see something shiny”syndrome.
