Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! With some recent travel to Omaha and Iowa, it’s been a few weeks since I shared a Weekend Recap. So here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to the past few weeks.

Home Projects & Updates
If you missed it, we recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of living in this home! You can see the home tour I shared with all the recent progress.

I also recently shared my fall design boards if you missed those. I had also mentioned that I started my Christmas boards prior to that, but I think they’re actually 100% finished now too. Just waiting a bit longer to share those since I’m guessing you’re not ready for Christmas content in early September 😉
With our one-year anniversary, the builder also did a one-year walk through with us to have any warranty type items repaired. Our list was fairly short, but all day Friday (and we will again today) we had someone working on the list. It has been a bit of a mini construction zone, but I’m excited to have it all wrapped up today!
Over the holiday weekend, I officially ordered the three wallpapers we’ll be using in various bathrooms! I’m on the installers calendar for 10/19 and 20th. But, they said once the paper arrives, I can be added to the cancellation list and very likely it could be done much sooner. I think the paper all arrives late this week or early next week, so I’ll be sure to share more once I know an install date! I can’t wait!

In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past few weeks, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Kurtis is in the midst of his stretch of being in Omaha every week for a four week stretch. It’s his busy season for work and we had a personal trip mixed in, so he’s been racking up those SkyMiles!
We were in this really crazy pattern of intense thunderstorms every afternoon for a few hours. Now the past several days have just been rainy or overcast. With Kurtis gone so much, it gave me the perfect opportunity to work on the home tour and wrap up other little projects around the house.
The Friday before Labor Day weekend, we flew into Omaha and then made the 2+ hour drive to Kurtis’ hometown in Auburn, IA. We had dinner with his parents, and then the next day was our niece’s baby shower! It definitely felt like fall in Iowa with the mornings in the 50s! Here’s a peek at my sister-in-law’s garden (her tomatoes were so good) and some of the in-progress shower decor. I think our brother-in-law really loved the girly touches we added to his garage 😉
For some reason this photo is posting really blurry, but here’s a family pic with Kurtis’ parents, his two sisters and their families and us. It was such a great time and so fun to see so many people! Baby girl is already so loved!
Sunday we drove back to Omaha for the second part of our trip. We stopped by Janine & Pat’s new home in Gretna and got the grand tour. So beautiful! Then we had lunch at Lazlo’s together just like old times.
From there, we headed to our friends Jill and Nick’s house to stay with them and our goddaughters! Sunday was Jill’s birthday so it was the perfect day to visit!
They also hosted a little party that night with so many of our old neighbors, and even the cute family that bought our Omaha home! It was such a fun night with so many laughs and lots of reminiscing!
The girls were so excited to give mom her birthday cake!
We went to a few of our favorite restaurants (Dante, Roja, and Blatt!), played hair salon, and the girls filmed their own workout video while I was watching them one morning. How cute are they?!?
Before we had to fly out Tuesday afternoon, we had a fun lunch at Blatt on the patio with just the adults. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect while we were there! The mosquitos thought so too 😉
It’s definitely easier to say “see you later” to our friends and family when we know we’ll see them all again soon!
The cats hate when we’re gone, but love their cat sitters (and we do too) which makes it easier to leave them. But they always appreciate a rainy week once we get home! They also love football season because it means dad is camped out on the sofa for several hours each day games are on. With the rainy weather we’ve had the past several days, it was the perfect time to hang out with them!
Friday was my 44th(!) birthday. We really didn’t have much planned since the builder was at our house all day and I had several meetings. But, we threw together a last-minute dinner at Amigos with some of our favorites.
We had a little after-party at our house following dinner, and it somehow turned into me cutting hair for two people. Do I have experience? Not unless you count Kurtis’ pandemic hair cuts 😉 But Rachel was leaving for Italy the next morning and really wanted a trim, so I caved.
It was touch and go at first (some of you were freaking out on Instagram with the videos) but it turned out fairly decent, especially considering the terrible scissors I had to work with! Marissa liked Rachel’s hair so much she had me trim hers next! I made it clear this was a one-time thing. Funny enough, I had a hair appointment with the hairdresser that does all three of our hair. I think I’ll leave the pro to future trims for them 😉
After a four-month-plus-ish break, I made sourdough bread again this weekend! When we went to Monaco and France early spring for Kurtis’ work trip, I feel like my starter never recovered and I eventually dumped it. But with our friends headed to Italy for his mom’s 80th birthday, I volunteered to “babysit” Rachel’s starter. I think all the rain made me do it 😉 But, Kurtis and I agreed it was probably my best loaf yet. Maybe because we had gone without for so long. But, long story semi-short, I’m going to pull some starter off of this and start making bread weekly again!
We still have a busy few weeks ahead of us! I have a friend from Omaha that’s supposed to fly in tomorrow night, but we’re keeping an eye on the weather to potentially reschedule. We’re planning some photos that require it to not be 100% rainy every day. Kurtis is also headed back to Omaha for a few days. I then head to Dallas Sunday for the LTK conference. Then, shortly after, our friends and goddaughters from Omaha will also be visiting for their annual trip, followed by my mom visiting a few weeks later. This fall is going to fly by!
