Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

I’m trying to share more real-time updates over on my Instagram Stories. Last week I shared a handful of projects I’m considering in the near future.

First up, if anyone remembers my original design plans for this house I made well over a year ago before we moved in, I had originally thought of adding cane webbing behind the glass. I’ve lived with it with just the glass for a while, and still really love the warmth of some rattan. I ended up ordering this product and it arrived last night so I think I’m going to temporarily tape it in those upper cabinets to see if I like it. I’ll share more once I do!

In those same sets of original design plans, I had also mentioned I’d likely be wallpapering our dining room. Hence the reason everything in the space is currently all white. I’ll be talking more about this in tomorrow’s post, but I’ve been stalling on this one for a while (with good reason). I’ll expand on my thoughts tomorrow on this one! But let’s just say lots of paint samples were involved 😉 Please also note how cute my helper was on this project.

Where there’s a project and a ladder, magically Hawkeye appears to scale the ladder 😉

My cute little orange kumquat that I’ve been babying fell off the tree when I was watering last week. I only have one other that has started to change but hopefully I can keep them on the trees longer in the future! But this helps show the scale of just how small they are compared to limes.

Here’s a peek at my front porch planters. They’re growing quickly for how late into the season that I planted them! I’m using this footed bowl planter.

I finally got most of my office cleaned up. It still needs some work but at least it’s no longer as chaotic!

Around Town & For Fun

On Monday we celebrated our 19th anniversary. We went to Cuvee for dinner and really enjoyed it! I’m rarely a martini girl, but I’m a big fan of their pear flower martini! Ignore my chipped nail polish and hair tie in the pic below 😉

Tuesday night, the birthday celebrations continued for our friend Chris. The prior weekend he had the hibachi dinner and Tuesday was his actual birthday so we went to Amigos. Some of us go there more than he does and somehow he ends up with a free giant dessert platter every year and none of us ever have. Ha!

I’ve noticed my hair has gotten a lot more curly since moving to Florida. Not sure if it’s the humidity or my hair texture just changing as I age. I’ve always had a bit of wave but it definitely has more curl to it now. I’ve had a few people asking to let me air dry my hair so I did a day last week. Enjoy these makeup-free selfies of what ensued. It honestly just felt like a bad perm. Ha! Parts of my hair are definitely much curlier than the rest, and the top is just kind of a mess. I even used a curl cream but not sure I can handle what felt like a rat’s nest all day. Maybe some of you ladies with natural curls and waves can give me some tips!

Early Friday morning, Kurtis and I got up and rode our bikes to Raw & Juicy for breakfast. It was a great feeling to already have a few hours of work in, a 6 mile bike ride, breakfast, and to be back home all before 9 am!

Friday night, a bunch of guys got together and went to the new Deadpool movie. With about 10 minutes of planning, Rachel and Marissa (and baby H) planned on a pho dinner delivery and hung out for a few hours. Little H played with the dogs through the window. He was even trying to throw them tennis balls. So cute!

Sunday evening we went out for sushi and then took a long golf cart ride around the neighborhood. We spotted several sets of friends so it was fun to stop and chat for a bit!

It’s pretty crazy to me that we’ll be entering August this week (and that some kids are going back to school)! Where did this summer go?! We did both say last night how much we love summer and how much we loved that we moved somewhere we can enjoy the season for a much longer window!

    The curls are adorable!

I let my similar curls air dry and then select a few small sections where more curl or volume is needed and wrap it around the 3/4″ barrel Bed Head Curlipops curling iron. Blake Lively’s curls at Super Bowl earlier this year are what inspired me.
