Good morning! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! Ours was filled with lots of fun, work and rest, which always seems to be the best combo for us. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to this past week.

Home Projects & Updates
I know I don’t usually post on Sundays, so if you missed our spring home tour yesterday, you’ll want to be sure to check that out!
SPRING LOFT SOURCES: Sectional | Star Chandelier | Brushstroke Pillow Covers | Floral Pillow Covers | Lamps | Console Table | Faux Lilacs | Vase
These faux peonies arrived this past week and I couldn’t be happier with them! They’re definitely not packed the best, but once you remove them from the box, they pop right into shape. They’re so beautiful! I have the 20-count of white (not bright white) but only have 14 of them in this vase for reference.

We spent a few hours in our yard this week doing some maintenance. Weeds grow early in Florida, and they came back with a vengeance this year! Our lawn is just barely coming back from being dormant for the winter (our grass doesn’t stay green here like it does further south in Florida). And once it started growing, the weeds did too. We were shocked when we saw our side yard the other day! Here’s a little before and after.
I also cut back some of our shrubs out front to make them more uniform, since I know they’ll grow like crazy here shortly. I was probably a bit aggressive, but they had already grown out of control.
Our builder actually provided all of our landscaping prior to us moving in so we didn’t have a say in selecting anything. Which is great when you want your house done and move-in ready. But I’m definitely ready to start devoting more attention to our yard (and planters!) so we may end up moving things around a bit! Our HOA is rather strict on what can/can’t be planted in the ground, so I’ll have to adhere to that, but I’m ready to get going on it!
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past few weeks, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
Our niece Kate was with us most of the week on her spring break. She’s in vet school in Iowa so she was eager to head south for a few days of sunshine. We tried to squeeze in as much as possible while she was here. She and I had several coffee, lunch and shopping dates during the day while Kurtis worked. We also hit the beach on the sunny days.
Kurtis and his first goddaughter!
Pretty shell finds on our beach walks.
One of the most exciting things that happened all week was spotting a pod of dolphins one day at the beach! They were playing around like crazy and we were able to get fairly close to them on a sandbar. It was actually the first time Kurtis had seen a dolphin since we moved here! They were moving so quickly it was hard to photograph, but here’s a screengrab from a video where you can see three of them.
We also had some pool time, tourist time checking out the various towns, and a final dinner at Old Florida Fish House. She was such a joy to have visiting all week, and we already can’t wait until her next visit!
One night, I had a sourdough bread making class at my friend Ashley’s house with her sister as the instructor! Ashley is definitely the hostess with the mostess and it was such a fun time learning something I’ve wanted to know for some time! I’ve already made two loaves since the class and it’s been fun to modify and change things up. Just missing Marissa in the group photo since she had to leave early with her little babe.
Saturday morning, we took our first bike ride together in as long as I can remember. I honestly don’t think I had been on mine since we moved late last August! The one time we tried since then, our tires were flat and we had to go home. Ha! But it was great to get out and enjoy the fresh air! We made it nearly 7 miles and I’m really looking forward to more rides this spring.
Saturday night, our beach club hosted a free concert and the headliner was…. Thomas Rhett! The concert was on the driving range where I took golf lessons so it was fun to see it transformed for such a big star! Such a fun night with good friends – the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful for the event!
It may be odd to say, but Kurtis and I are both really looking forward to this week because it’s back to our routine (work included)! No visitors, no travel, no events – basically our first week like this since the first of the year. We’re excited to get back to our routine and our regular work (and hopefully eating and sleeping) schedules!
Kurtis has a few work trips on the agenda, and we have his big company trip at the end of April (overseas!), but other than that, our calendar is mostly empty looking forward. We’ll be ready for more guests soon, but we’re looking forward to some down time over the coming weeks! Hopefully that also means we can shed a few pounds not playing tour guides/tourists like we have the past two months!
