Summer Home Tour: Part I

Home Tour

Today I’m sharing part one of my 2015 summer home tour. Not only will you get to see my home, but you can tour the other homes of 29 other bloggers this week, and even more next week! You know I’m a huge fan of home tours, and when it’s for summer? Even better! I’ll then be back next week with part two of the tour and whole other group of ladies whose homes you can tour.

If you’re stopping in from A Stroll Thru Life, welcome! Marty organized this tour and rounded up an incredible mix of homes to tour. If you’re new to my blog, welcome! My husband and I moved into our current home about two and a half years ago and are in the process of slowly making it “ours”, one DIY project at a time. You can read more about our DIY projects and room makeovers here.  On to the tour!

Welcome to our home in Omaha, Nebraska. Summer is my absolute favorite time of year, and I love working on projects in our yard every bit as much as I love decorating the inside of our home.

This year, I changed things up from prior years. I opted to keep my usual blue, green and neutral color scheme, but rather than using the more muted colors I’ve used in the past, I went full on saturated. Deep blues and greens felt really fresh to me this year. Everything has a bit of a coastal/nautical feel, without being too themey.

I’ve shared little previews of my summer color scheme on Instagram, and the colors took center stage in the living room this year. I’ll be sharing a tutorial for the pineapple vases in the next week or so. They might be my favorite thing from the entire tour!

I’m obsessed with these fresh pineapple vases that I made and filled with peonies, hydrangeas and other fresh blooms!

Loving this fresh pineapple vase in this summer living room!

From the kitchen you can see some of the big changes I’ve made in the dining room. I’ll be sharing more on that later this week!

Loving this summer bar cart in this gorgeous home tour. That fresh pineapple vase with peonies and hydrangeas is on my list to make! Striped throw with pom pom pillow are also cute.

Our mudroom, which is still a long ways from being completed (i.e. this is actually just primer on the planks), got a little summer refresh with a fun clearance print from HomeGoods:

My office also got a dose of summer with a pineapple flower vase. I especially love this room in the summer because I  can walk out into the courtyard and be outside within a few seconds.

Lastly, off the main hallway and my office is my favorite space on the planet: our courtyard.

Unfortunately I don’t know much because it was already here when we moved in. But, I do think I’ve seen something similar (or nearly identical) at Home Depot in their fencing section. I hope that helps!
