Today I’m sharing part one of my 2015 summer home tour. Not only will you get to see my home, but you can tour the other homes of 29 other bloggers this week, and even more next week! You know I’m a huge fan of home tours, and when it’s for summer? Even better! I’ll then be back next week with part two of the tour and whole other group of ladies whose homes you can tour.
If you’re stopping in from A Stroll Thru Life, welcome! Marty organized this tour and rounded up an incredible mix of homes to tour. If you’re new to my blog, welcome! My husband and I moved into our current home about two and a half years ago and are in the process of slowly making it “ours”, one DIY project at a time. You can read more about our DIY projects and room makeovers here. On to the tour!
Welcome to our home in Omaha, Nebraska. Summer is my absolute favorite time of year, and I love working on projects in our yard every bit as much as I love decorating the inside of our home.
This year, I changed things up from prior years. I opted to keep my usual blue, green and neutral color scheme, but rather than using the more muted colors I’ve used in the past, I went full on saturated. Deep blues and greens felt really fresh to me this year. Everything has a bit of a coastal/nautical feel, without being too themey.
Console Table / Homegoods bench, vase, orb, lamps, mirror / Chandelier / Doxology Canvas / DIY Anchor Canvas Art / Gold Urchin
I’ve shared little previews of my summer color scheme on Instagram, and the colors took center stage in the living room this year. I’ll be sharing a tutorial for the pineapple vases in the next week or so. They might be my favorite thing from the entire tour!
Throws / Lamps / Hobby Lobby Palm and Gold Spike / DIY Pillows (same paisley pillows here)/ Koi Fish Art / Art Frame / HomeGoods Glass Vases (similar)
I’m obsessed with these fresh pineapple vases that I made and filled with peonies, hydrangeas and other fresh blooms!
From the kitchen you can see some of the big changes I’ve made in the dining room. I’ll be sharing more on that later this week!
Bar cart / Art / Frame / HomeGoods White Ceramic Pineapple & Basket / White Pom Pillow Cover / Local boutique throw / DIY Fresh Pineapple Vase
Our mudroom, which is still a long ways from being completed (i.e. this is actually just primer on the planks), got a little summer refresh with a fun clearance print from HomeGoods:
HomeGoods Art, Throw and Vase / Copper Lantern Chandelier / Jacket (similar)
My office also got a dose of summer with a pineapple flower vase. I especially love this room in the summer because I can walk out into the courtyard and be outside within a few seconds.
DIY “Wood” Bead Chandelier / DIY Art & Frame / Desk Makeover / Linen Chairs / HomeGoods Blue Chair (similar)
Lastly, off the main hallway and my office is my favorite space on the planet: our courtyard.
DIY Outdoor Couch / Costco Firepit and Chair Set / Turquoise Pots / Lantern Lights / String Lights
I hope you enjoyed my summer home tour. I’ll be back next week with part two of the tour. But for now, you can tour the homes of of 29 other fabulous bloggers, whose tours will be going on all week. Hello I have come visiting via Marty’s blog. I absolutely had to pin the pineapple vase and will be featuring it on my blog tomorrow.
Thank you for a wonderful tour!
Love it all Sarah!!! (as always!) I went and bought that palm leaf after you shared it on your Wednesday watch list. xoxo
I’m seriously obsessed with your house! Ahh love love love!
Beautiful job, Sarah! I love your peaceful, serene style, and the gorgeous blues are so fitting! I wouldn’t have guessed the palm was from HL, I need that on my list! My parents have the same furniture and fire pit so I know how COZY it is!! Enjoy!
I love it! I do like the navy and white but not too theme-y on the coastal style. I especially love all the vases with palm leaves or ferns. I can’t wait to see the dining room reveal.
oh my Sarah! Your courtyard, your gorgeous pillows, that pineapple vase – I love it all! So happy it’s summer! 🙂
Congratulations on crafting such a beautiful home. My favourites are the kitchen and the outdoor area with the fireplace in the table. Amazing details! (Katherine)

Oh, I love all the deep blues mixed in Sarah 🙂 So soothing and lovely every inch! xo
Great house! I love your taste.
Everything looks so crisp and clean and your courtyard is perfect. Do you mind sharing were you purchased the biblical print, i.e., “praise God …”?
Thank you! The canvas is from Lindsay Letters online shop. I love it 🙂
Sarah – your home is gorgeous! So fresh and summery! I love your pineapple arrangement! How awesome that your office opens up to that lovely courtyard – I don’t know if I would get much work done!!! Thanks, too, for giving us the link updates – I really appreciate it!
So beautiful, as always!! So fresh and light and bright and airy – perfect for summer Sarah!! I wish I could come over and relax on that patio area in your courtyard?! What a lovely space to spend an evening!

Your home is simply gorgeous and that outdoor space looks so peaceful and relaxing. Thanks so much for sharing!
I would so love to know about your courtyard wall? What can you tell me???
Unfortunately I don’t know much because it was already here when we moved in. But, I do think I’ve seen something similar (or nearly identical) at Home Depot in their fencing section. I hope that helps!
Your home is lovely – I love the pops of colour and coastal touches that you’ve incorporated into your decor. And the dark wall in your office is fabulous!
Of course everything is beautiful!! Your entry has always been one of my favorites!
I followed the link from one of my favorites: Thrifty Decor Chick and was so surprised to see you were “reporting” from our hometown, Omaha, NE! You have a beautiful home and I absolutely love all the light fixtures – right down to the string lights in your courtyard!
Thank you so much! 🙂
I loved your pictures but you have so many ads that it was too irritating to look through them. I want to see pictures, not advertisements. Sorry!
Thank you for letting me know! Honestly, this is the first complaint I’ve ever received and they shouldn’t be showing on every picture. I’ll contact my ad network. I appreciate you stopping in and letting me know!
Your house is beautiful, well done! Can I ask what the paint color is? I love it!
Thank you so much! Most of our wall are Behr Castle Path. If there was a specific room you were wondering about, I have this page that lists all colors and samples if that helps 🙂 https://lifeonvirginiastreet.com/source-lists/paint-colors/
