One of my goals this year is to become more crafty. Yesterday while we were out running errands, we swung by the fabric store and I found some cute fabric on clearance for $4.99 a yard that I thought would look cute as pillows in the bonus room (it didn’t match that well once I got it home but I figured it looked okay for practice pillows).

Previously, the only pillows we had in the room were the ones that came free with the couch on our main floor that I think are just okay. The husband has been nagging me about using the sewing machine I HAD to have back in October (and hand’t used on my own since). So, I got brave, took some good advice from my mom over the phone, and went at it.

Overall, I think the pillow turned out great for my first one (the hubs was very impressed). I guess it should have looked perfect since it took me nearly three hours to crank out start to finish. I am guessing I can finish the other two in half that time combined. In the end, it was pretty easy, and I am guessing we will soon have pillows in every room in our house 🙂 At least until I get brave enough to tackle another crafty project! If anyone is interested in trying to make similar pillows, let me know and I can post the directions – I promise, if I can make these, anyone can!
