Well, it turns out vacation mode has officially turned off and I am back to completing projects all weekend long.  However, this weekend I was finally able to wrap up several projects that been unfinished for some time {in addition to all the photo prints I hung on Friday} so it is a huge weight off my shoulders.

First up, the island!  FINALLY done {okay not entirely, but enough so that it is presentable and I no longer have to see green frog tape everywhere}.  I LOVE how it looks {as will be evidenced by the number of photos you are forced to see}.  The white doors now look perfect with the beadboard that the husband and my dad installed over Easter!  The painting actually went much smoother than anticipated {the hardest part was hanging the new handles on the drawers}.  I was impressed with my mad painting skills.  Granted, there are still flaws, but this was SO much easier than painting the oak cabinets in the laundry room.  I will spare you all the step-by-step details, but if anyone is interested in a tutorial, I can post that later.  I will definitely be painting the bathroom cabinets in the future!

Secondly, I finished another roman shade for our back door.  This one has been made for a few weeks but I needed to get wider ribbon to match the Pottery Barn version over our kitchen sink.  Honestly, I am almost as happy with mine {which cost $8.50 to make} as I am the PB version that retails for $100+ {but I got on eBay for $35}.  Mine has a lot more folds {it is so long it will hang to the floor} so I may shorten it in the future.  But for now, I love it!

And just because I love before and after shots, here is the house right when we moved in compared to now.  I am still contemplating painting the off-white portion of our table and chairs black.

We also hung the frame the husband had made in our main bath.  It is going to look great, but right now the glue is curing so here is a little sneak peak:
And because I loved the photos so much, I got the 5×7 made for the guest bedroom {the previously empty frame on the nightstand} and hung new prints above my computer in the bonus room.
And don’t worry, even through all this work, we managed to have fun and go out for sushi with the husband’s sister and brother-in-law.
I love productive weekends!

Looks like you’ve been busy. Your kitchen looks great — I am a sucker for white cabinets. 🙂
