New House?

Home Tour

Well, we made an offer last night, but the house is being sold by a relocation agency and they will not allow any offers contingent upon the buyers current home being sold.  Understandable, but we are not sure we are willing to proceed unless we know our house can not only sell, but at a price that we are willing to take.  The process is somewhat stalled now.  We are still going to plan to list ours on Monday, however, if the house we want goes under contract next week with someone else, we will likely pull ours {since we are now sold on the neighborhood, and the only other home available now is 50% higher in price and much larger than we are looking for}.

I’ll go ahead and show you the pictures I took last time we went through.  Fingers crossed everything works out and we sell ours within the first day 😉 Some of these are random and I didn’t get a picture of every room.  I asked to keep all five planters that are outside {the tall one on the porch and the four on the front thing you see below}. You’ll notice the home has a very mission style or arts & crafts feel.

Front room {office or den/TV room} – also has access to the courtyard:

This is from the kitchen/dining/living area looking back towards the front door {the front room above would be off to the left by the front door in this photo}.  The hallway has access to the courtyard on the left and the mudroom/powder room/garage to the right.  And I’m pretty sure that front door is like eight or nine feet tall – it’s huge!:

The kitchen {which is to the right on the photo above} – don’t mind the open drawers – they were demoing some of the organizational features. There’s also a shot of the pantry {which also has hookups for another washer/dryer set}:

Dining Room – overlooks the courtyard to the right and gives access to the covered patio to the left:

Living room:

Backyard – this home sits on the corner of a u-shaped street so it is shaped a lot like a house on a cul-de-sac.  The backyard is huge – you can see the lot line on the right where sod for the next door neighbors was just laid.  The two lots behind it are currently empty, but as you can see in the first photo, with the slope of the yard, you can only see the roof line of the homes behind.  The last pic shows access to the courtyard:

The powder room:

Mud room/garage access.  There is also a large coat closet in this room that is not pictured.

Garage – I love the windows but also love that they are high enough that you can’t see in from outside:

Staircase to second level and railing that overlooks the lower level hallway – they have their family photos taken with Laura and George W. Bush at Christmas for several years. I took two types of photos – one so you can seen the views – the other so you can see the interior.

Okay – so in the photo above, there is a bedroom to the left (you can see part of it) the staircase to come up is the bottom left, the overlook area is to the mid-right, there is a bedroom to the right, a bedroom through the opening in the center {I would LIKE to make this my closet but need to convince husband} and the master is the area you see in the back with the window.  All the bedrooms have walk-in closets and access to bathrooms {the two on the left share a Jack and Jill bath and the one on the right has its own}.  The three bedrooms are plain so no photos.

Master bedroom – we love the board & batten on the wall with the bed {as well as on the ceiling} along with the windows above the bed!

Master bath – I think the tile is way too dark so it would likely be replaced down the road.  It has a walk-in shower which we love.  The windows all have frosted squares in the middle which you can’t see but makes it much more private.

Laundry room on second floor {like I said, there is also a hookup in the kitchen pantry but not sure we would ever use it}.  We were going to write into the contract that it was contingent upon them hauling away their washer & dryer since we already had our own.

Basement.  The owners were not planning on moving but the husband got a promotion so they have to move to Kansas City.  They had been working on finishing their basement {which is an odd shape due to the courtyard above} but it would add a 5th bedroom, 5th bathroom, storage and what we would make a theater room down the road.

And that concludes the tour! If we got the house, we would paint inside before we moved – it is currently a flat paint and is a little too beige. Eventually I would swap out some of the lighting {the island pendants would be the first to go} and I think we could then easily make everything our style. Hoping it all works out!

It looks like a great house with lots of upgrades already. I saw that it has dark hardwood floors already so that is good! I really like the stair/hallway railing. Here is to hoping your house sells in the first day and this remains am option!
