navy blue and brown?

For my bonus room I am deciding on navy, blue and brown, as the main colors.

What are all of your thoughts on navy blue, brown & white for colors in a room?  I am really struggling in the bonus room thanks to the brown couch {I always lean more towards black accents/patterns}.  So I am not entirely sure that navy and brown go together but found these photos as inspiration.  I am going for a more preppy/glam vibe than nautical, etc.  Thoughts?
A round dining room table with navy and white chairs, a large mirror and fireplace in the dining room.
A brown headboard with white sheets and blue pillows.
Navy blue and brown bed.
Striped blue and white walls with two single beds in front of it.
A master bedroom bed with a wavy striped blue and white rug.
A sectional couch in the living room with a blue and white rug.
White and blue couches in the living room with touches wood.
A wooden dresser with an octopus drawing above it.
A white four poster bed with a blue and striped rug by it.

I originally had planned to make drapes like those in the first photo but after some killer Cyber Monday deals on fabric I think I may go for ones made of this beautiful Dwell Studio fabric {Bella Porte in Twilight}:

Blue and white patterned fabric.

I love the brown and navy (dark blue) color scheme. As a matter of fact, I will be using the same color scheme in my Master bedroom. I will also be using pop of gold ex: lamps, vases, photo frames, etc.

My bedding is “cracked ice” from the J Queen Street collection. I would love to add a third color to add a bit of pop and interest. Any ideas or suggestions? Or just too much?

I am planning on adding a 8×10 area rug underneath my queen bed. Should I be looking at dark blues or more of a mixture of ivories and browns with blue. Or would a rug be a good starting place to add a third color? I have cherrywood hardwoods on my floor.
