In early September, I shared our early fall home tour with you. Now, today, I want to share how that has slightly evolved as the weather has turned colder. Admittedly, it’s a bit hard to get in the fall spirit the first week of September, when temperatures can easily be in the 80’s or 90’s still.
But, now that we’ve started to see nights below freezing and most of our trees have lost their leaves, I think it’s much easier to want that cozy, warm feeling in your home. Today I’m going to share the additional fall updates I’ve made to our home since September and will share sources along the way (you can also check my early fall home tour for additional sources listing). Thanks to Gordmans sponsoring our fall home tour (along with 12 other bloggers), I’ve added a few fun pieces since my last tour – and I’m offering a discount at the end of the post for you to pick up some of your own favorites!
I am still loving the throw pillows I made for our living room. I’m usually a blue, green and neutrals girl so it was fun to add in some plum and wine tones for fall. The texture from the navy velvet and the woven navy and ivory Betwixt fabric help to add texture that creates a bit of dimension and warmth.
In the later fall months, I like to add pieces that can easily transition over to the Christmas season with little or no effort.
I picked up one of these large round metal baskets because I love how versatile they are. I used mine to hold some birch logs I also picked up at Gordmans. Which brings up another point: Gordmans has by far the best price I’ve seen on birch log bundles (18″, 42″ and 48″ lengths available). I bought some a few years back (after a lot of searching) and maybe almost triple for mine. Needless to say, I stocked up 😉 The long lengths look great in outdoor planters and I love my little collection of “fire wood” with the shorter length.
I also picked up a linen botanical banner and I felt like it was a total steal at $14.99!
One of my favorite finds was this galvanized planter with rope handles. I filled it with three preserved cypress trees that I also found at Gordmans and I love that they work now but will also carry me through all of my winter decor!
The final touch for fall was to add a cute little customizable chalkboard pennant over the fireplace. I simply used my favorite chalk paint markers to add the “Thankful” saying and it was good to go. I love that I can change the sayings out seasonally and easily move it from room to room. You’ll also see an appearance by Hawkeye and Henley in the photos below.
The room just feels so cozy now!In the dining room, things are also cozier with the addition of layers with some cable knit throws over the backs of the head chairs. I’ve made a few changes since my last home tour, and created a DIY Thanksgiving Menu board that I shared a few weeks back and I love it more every day I see it!

Thank you! I got it from HomeGoods last year and it was only intended to stay up through Christmas. Let’s just say it’s going on one year on the wall 😉

Haha! I’ve got a wreath like that – put it up in the living room last Christmas and it’s still there. Thanks for the info!

I saw the round metal baskets at Home Goods yesterday but didn’t get one because I didn’t know where to find the birch logs. Totally love that look of birch logs for winter. Now I bet if I order the birch logs the metal baskets will be gone by the time I make it back to Home Goods. 🙁

Can you please tell me where I can find the Botanical Print on Gordmans site? You didn’t have that highlighted to take me to their site. I just love it!!
PS – I love your house! You have done a great job decorating and it reflects comfort

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I don’t think they sell it online. My store had five or six though, and some had different patterns/looks. I believe it may be an in store item only. Sorry!

So pretty, Sarah! We don’t have Gordmans here but I’ll have to take a look online.
