Sharing some coastal inspired home decor for less, along with a few fresh updates we made in our pool house kitchen!

Coastal Inspired Home Decor for Less

Now that we’re in that awkward decorating phase between the holidays and spring, I’ve been searching for a few ways to update the pool house and other areas of our home. Since the pool house was specifically built for summer, we’ll typically keep the decor pretty sparse. But with so many windows and the outdoors not looking so great this time of year, I wanted to bring in a few items to warm it up for the next few months! I still wanted to keep things beachy and coastal, but not feeling completely bare. I also wanted to keep it neutral enough it didn’t feel too summery and my goal was to keep all of my updates well under $200.

I’ve found so many cute items on tjmaxx.com lately, and I knew several would be perfect for the space. They’ve recently added an incredible selection of coastal inspired home decor, and I love that their site is constantly refreshed with new items! Here’s a few of the updates I made to the pool house. I’m also sharing several more coastal inspired pieces I found with designer vibes, for much less, further down in the post!

One of the first things I knew we needed for the space in these dull winter months is some more ambient lighting. I love the look of layered lighting at different levels in a space, especially this time of year. It is still getting dark so early here, and by adding this navy blue table lamp (we also have and love this one that’s still in stock) to the countertop, it adds so much warmth in the evenings and early mornings! The navy helps add some contrast to this space for the winter months, and the texture on this lamp is so beautiful! We have the lamp on a timer and dimmer so it automatically turns on around sunset and then turns off around bedtime. It creates a much needed warm glow out here in the evenings! I also added this indoor/outdoor runner to add a fun pattern to the space for winter. For some reason, this pattern reminded me of a cozy fair isle sweater, so I went for it. The blues tie in perfectly with the island!

But, you know I couldn’t stop there! I found this Shell Art that reminds me of a piece in our Florida home. In fact, this may actually end up down there, but I love it out here for now! I simply replaced the Christmas art I had on the easel with this shell art. The neutral colors work so well this time of year without feeling too “summery”. I also love the added texture of the linen mat and real shells!

The decorative bowl has a plaster-like feel, and I love it filled with faux limes to add a bit of green to the space! I didn’t have quite enough limes, so I actually layered another bowl inside and it works perfectly! If these were real limes, this would also be a great way to ensure the surface of the decorative bowl is protected!

I’m loving these simple, easy and affordable updates for the winter months!

And this is super random and not really decor related, but I have slowly been adding fun games out in the space. It started with an acrylic tic tac toe set, and when I saw this huge four-in-a-row wood game, I knew it was meant to be! It’s on major clearance right now after the holidays.

The wood legs slide off easily, so you can store it flat. I obviously won’t be leaving it out on the countertop, but thought it would be helpful to see here so you can really see the scale! It’s ridiculous how excited I am to use this both indoors and outdoors in the summer months!
