I can hardly believe it, but tomorrow marks the three year anniversary of us moving into our current home! You can read the one year anniversary and two year anniversary posts if you want to see progress over the years.
To say I love our home is probably one of the biggest understatements I could ever make. At this point in time, we consider it our “forever” until retirement home. But who knows, we may even hang onto it into retirement. Be sure to tour our first home and second home if you’re interested.
I know when we first bought this home, my husband was nervous. Nervous about the new payment, but also nervous about the fact he thought I would tire of the new home quickly and want to move fairly soon like I did in our prior two homes. Wrong! (I love being right) 😉 Now that we know we’re here for the long-haul, we’ve obviously decided to make it everything we want it to be for our enjoyment, and not worry about the resell (obviously not being completely stupid either). But it will mean some changes down the road, including our plans for the pool and outdoor space.
Today I thought it would be fun to do a quick before and after of the space, because I know it’s easy to forget just how far we’ve come when it feels like we’re always working on a project. It’s always fun to go back and see the impact we’ve all made in our homes – and I encourage you do that as well!
Here we are the day we moved in. Little did we know a blizzard was on it’s way, ready to take over our move!
There’s nothing like having to blow snow on the day after you move into your new house that has a much bigger driveway! Although, I say all this in theory, given that I didn’t actually have to help… On to the tour!
Welcome to our three-year before and after tour! And yes, I’m totally picking my favorite ‘after’ pics, even if they aren’t all from the same season 😉 We know our home was already beautiful before we made any changes, but it has been so fun to make it a space that is truly ‘ours’! We still have lots of work to do but it is fun to see just how far we’ve already come!

There’s nothing better than going back and looking at how far a home has come since move in day 🙂 It’s such a mix of “hell yeah we did that!” and “oh God, did it really look like that?!” (at least for me that’s how it goes). I absolutely adore your home, and your style, and can’t wait to see what all you do with it next year!!

Loved your post! This is such a good reminder that all good things come w. time & patience. My husband and I just moved into our “forever” home about 2 months ago and even though we’ve already made some big changes, I always am fighting the urge to “finish” it all now! I’ll come back to this post when I begin feeling that itch again 😉

Funny how we all loved the earthtones for so long and now we’re back to more traditional colors again, but with a lighter, softer look — and much more serene! Everything looks beautiful 🙂
